Like all classified ad sites, and especially the free ones, Gumtree does indeed suffer from scam ads. That said, they seem pretty good at taking down scam ads when reported and there are active forum moderators who aid in that cause. The site itself carries a growing selection of ads and it's free. I think the site is a good choice for items that you can buy locally and transact face to face (which was, I beleive, the original concept behind the site). But don't use it to buy things remotely from people you haven't met.
A woman bought a puppy from me I am the breeder a couple days later she put it up for re sale breaking lucys law that prohibits the resale of any animal under 6 months the puppy has to come back to the breeder she has not come back to me and is therfore breaking the law

I bought a new phone and it was a fake I lost £600 and told them and they are still adivising on the app
Within 24 hours Gumtree scammed me of £9 removing my advert for using different emails. This site needs closing down. 22 carat foreign scammers
HI, i am new to Gumtree and i try to post my flat for rent on gumtree. First i post the ad without pictures and they removed my ad for that reason. I edited my ad, add photos, landlord reg and they told me they blocked my account for no reasons. I asked to provide me with details and info if i break any rules or terms and they don't comply with they own ToS.

Removed means that your ad has been removed from Gumtree for a violation of our site policies.
