Scam job posting -- High Liner Foods in Edmonton, AB for a Merchandiser Position. Stay away!
Two over the phone interviews & one face to face with HR on speaker phone. The job interview was held in a Hotel Room.(Not a Board room). A day later an email is sent, wanting me to join the team and stating that I needed to fill out a back check & send in references. All paper work needed to be printed off, signed and emailed back (long distance). The HR Rep was completely incompetent. She emailed and called repeatedly stating that she never received the faxes. All the paper work was sent and a fax confirmation slip was issued and somehow she didn't receive it until a day later.? Then when she finally found the faxes, she couldn't see one of the documents clearly enough and she demanded a color photocopy be sent. It was a never ending stream of demands, calls and emails. Several days later, on the Friday, the HR Rep calls to offer the job stating that She didn't want to leave me dangling over the weekend and that the District manager will call me again on Monday to offer me the job. AGAIN? When the Manager calls, he offers me the position and then he reads off a bunch of information about pay structure, bonuses, holidays etc. He states that he will be flying in to train me on Monday. He wanted the name of a Hotel near my Home because he was bringing another person with him that will stay and train me for the other two days and that I would have to pick up and drive this individual. He then states that the HR Department will send me an email of the offer documents. Print, read, sign and fax back another 30 pages. Then all of a sudden the job offer is conditional upon references and they expected me to hound my references and firm up an exact time and day to speak with them. One of the references had called back but never was contacted again. References are individuals that are offering their time on your behalf and pushing and pushing was completely unprofessional and embarrassing. The browbeating never stopped. After acceptance of job offer, they expect you to contact your references and book times for the calls. The HR Rep calls & emails 3-4 times a day demanding something new every day. Then an email is sent out stating that tomorrow they will be making me a firm offer and expected a head shot photo to send to them to put in a company newsletter introducing me to the team. Then I was sent an email to set up my email and a Health Benefits package. All this needed to be done immediately. Hounding me day and night. This HR Department is the most incompetent and unprofessional. Then, after all the hoops I had to jump through, all of a sudden... out of left field the HR Rep makes up some story & pulls the job opportunity off the table. Stay away from this company. If this isn't a scam then be double aware... a company that treats people this way in the beginning... can't imagine how an individual could work for such an incompetent, unprofessional company. Shame Shame
