Customer service is very, very poor. Extremely long wait times and with how difficult your tools are to use, the poor customer service makes this a real waste of money. Your service is for folks with expert skills in web development. Not regular folks like my mom and me. If your customer service were better, it may have worked. I hope you guys can do better.

Hostgator became quite expensive compared with other top hosting providers. Reduced max site number to 3 for business when others have 15 and 25.
And the last week it has issues all over and I cant finish the rollover of the sites.

Non-existent customer support. Waited over an hour for a rep in online chat. They require you to pay for hosting just to be able to modify your DNS records. I have never heard of that before in all my years reserving domains! - David Shapiro (I always put my name as I stand behind any review I would post)

UPDATE
In my second interaction with their support, they were amazingly helpful, very responsive and knowledgeable. I spoke to a colleague who also uses their service and she raves about them so I will attribute my first bad experience as an anomaly and change my review from 1 star to 5 stars.

I have several websites for each specialty that I offer and for some reason when I built this one there was something wrong with a plugin that kept locking me out. The tech support was very patient and got me back into the website which had locked me out. It kept happening, so I eventually had to start the entire website over from scratch, after literally reaching out for support four times. This was the first time I needed extensive tech support in the several years that I have been working with this hosting company. Also, I love that they keep adding new features. I appreciate the SSL certificates. I was a total novice when I first started with hostgator and I remember having a lot of questions in the very beginning even though I had read the website information because the concepts were still new to me and they were very patient then as well.

Tip for consumers:
This hosting company has been around for years. They make it very easy to build a wordpress website. I have something like twenty websites with them.

I have had a number of issues with email that was set up by hostgator, and have had very mixed results getting those issue resolved. It's been really frustrating - "We made a mistake... it will take a few days to fix. No you won't know what emails you missed and no compensation unless the system is down..." for example. I have a sense of uneasiness about whether things will work properly.

When attempting to renew using a credit card, after clicking the submit button, it indicates that the payment hasn't been made, despite the amount being deducted from my credit card. This process is not ideal for accepting payments from customers. Your payment submit button should be responsive, indicating that the payment is proceeding or completed once the customer clicks to submit the payment. However, the submit button shows no response, despite the amount already being deducted from the customer's credit card.

The chat support team provides misleading information regularly, Have been a victim of applying for server migration, was provided with misleading information by both chat support and migration department, until the old server fell due for renewal, the quickly demanded that i needed to renew the old server in order to do the migration, yet it was all there fault. The price has gone up dramatically over the past couple of years. I've paid the full amount every year, but this year it went up even more, and it's getting out of hand. New customers get 75-80% off, while long term customers get nothing.

I contact customer support and they offered me the "best deal" they could, which was insignificant, and still nowhere near what a new customer gets it for. I've been with Hostgator for over a decade, but plan on leaving as soon as possible.
