The ONLY reason I came to hostgator was for a catchall email account. I was assured that I could do that by at least 4 different employees. They lied to me over and over again just to get my business.

I have been trying to transfer my domains away from the platform and you are deliberately slowing down the process by witholding my transfer key. I was then told (after wasting time on chat) that you would email me the key three days later, only to never receive the key. I am going to report your company to the BBB because I believe other customers are likely having this same issue. I used to be able to move my domains with no problem, which I had to do because you kept getting them hacked (which I have no idea how this was happening, since I only host vanity urls on this platform), and once I transfered a few of them, you put this artificial three day hold in place.
I have been a hostgator customer for 15 years and I am very disappointed. Very.

When I signed in, my user name was not accepted. I tried typing it manually and not a saved version. I tried the portal and the website builder. Nothing worked, but I used the same user name, my email, every time. Your customer service rep, Sushma, could not understand that the user name was the issue and reset the password unnecessarily, causing me more issues. This has not been an acceptable start.

Initially it took over 24hrs to get my domain and hosting up and running. It took two calls to customer service to be resolved. It was just a propagation issue but needed something to be done on your back end. Also took a further 24hrs for the SSL certificate to become live.
Live chat was very slow, it would take up to 10 minutes for replies. Phone support was better and more responsive.

I am going to start moving away from HostGator since this last major facelift. It's horrible. I was previously able to login to my account super quick and easy. Now, it won't remember my password. When logging in, and I get to the password screen, it acts like it's a new password and fills it in with a random password. I then have to tell it to not create a new password and it won't allow me to fill it in from my password book. This is not acceptable. Also, you have hidden access to the cPanel, I have to hunt for it. The layout of all of my sites to edit each one, this is garbage. I can't believe that you ruined such an amazing GUI. I will absolutely be taking my business elsewhere. This frustration is too much for me.

I migrated three sites to you last spring - and they disappeared. I have spent hours trying to figure out what the problem is. I finally learned that I needed to change the nameservers - which I finally was able to do two days ago - and they're still not working. Obviously should have never migrated over the sites

Super bad service. No proper instructions and guide. The email reset password had a link which point to localhost in plesk. No instruction or user name password provided for pleask. The site has 503 error every hour. Some of the faq page doesn't open at all.

Because it was referred to me by someone I saw on youtube who said it was a good platform but I find the domain cost to be very high so I gave you 3 start you need to work on the domain cost if 1&1.com can sell domain for $1 and still make a profit you can do better on your cost and then charging $29 to restore my site when the earlier rep told me it would be restored free of cost when I called back to see why it wasn't done I was hit with the $29 cost to restore my site to an earlier time. And then charging $8 to port in a domain these are the reason I gave 3 stars

This is very bad... my client's website has been down for days. Since Jan 3rd 2024 to be exact. I contact support via telephone and I can't understand them... I contact support via chat and they are always telling me to wait 24-48 hours... I designed a website on my account...I then transferred over a domain name and hosting and nobody can tell me what is going on with the website. I was told that the agent deleted or removed the sub domain name where I designed the website. I was also told that an agent took a redirection off when they shouldn't have. This is absolutely ridiculous! I spent weeks designing that website and Now it is gone and I have a server issue and I am unable to email any hostgator support and nobody understands what the problem is. TERRIBLE!

Having a problem with https :// <domain>/autodiscover/autodiscover. Xml returning results (when it shouldn't). As a result we can't configure newer versions of Outlook for multiple users. It took Microsoft to find the issue being caused by the site. We found a HostGator tech article which said the solution was easy - just set MX Entry to "Remote". When nothing was fixed, we found posting saying it takes HostGator up to 48 hours to implement. We waited 48 hours... nothing. So we started chat sessions over 4 days and keep being told "we're very busy - please wait for a 'few' more hours. We're now at day 6 with hours and hours wasted trying to get this fixed... still nothing.
If you own a business - do yourself a favor, go elsewhere. HostGator is the BIGGEST mistake we have made with our site, and are users email is still down (with Microsoft saying - nothing can be done till this is fixed.

Awful, this individual was a bully. Made me pay my invoice almost one month early (due 12-11-2022) when my account is on auto pay with cc on file. I said if I paid the bill now before auto pay then the bill payment on the due date would probably duplicate. He/she said I'd need to remove my cc from the auto pay! I don't want to do that as I want to auto pay each year. He/She wouldn't assist me until I paid it. I paid the bill and then she/he said I didn't need to pay. Now the bill payment will likely duplicate because this nasty individual was such a bully. Hostgator you need to fix this issue with your tech support reps. This is the 2nd time I've had a rude arrogant tech rep. No one deserves treatment like this.

Good overall experience. I feel that their customer support team in the Asian region needs more support training, and could develop more synchronizing on how to approach various issues. For example, I upgraded from a small package to their largest package on the same day and was informed that I would obtain a full refund from the old program. I was told several times that I would be refunded for a program that I never would use again. When I asked for the fourth time about the refund, several days later, I was informed that they do not issue refunds for renewals. I felt I was lied to by HostGator.
They need to better train their customer service staff on lot of issues. I can't say, at this point, that I would recommend HostGator to anyone.
GoDaddy's customer service was becoming poor, and they stole money from my credit car without my permission. This happened more than once. So, I decided to look for other providers.

Terrible company and support staff. Paid over $150 to get my website running and it never worked because they couldn't verify my email. No support and no refund was given for a product that never worked.

I have been a hostgator customer for a few years. Website performance is quite good and uptime is great, but what I like most is the chat support.: always available, willing to help, knowledg, and most of the time my problems are solved in the first interaction. The only thing I would criticize is that after a few moments of inactivity session is closed and you have to start allmover again.

Mike was friendly and willing to get his hands dirty with a site that had some outdated files and discovered that then Elementor Pro was the main culprit for the site failure. He managed to get the site back up and running (though without the Elementor Pro Plugin activated). I will have to talk to Elementor but, that is their issue.
