I've been traumatized by customer service with providers like Bluehost, but the customer service is leagues ahead. With Bluehost I would ask for something and be lied to, gaslit and taken advantage of. That has not happened once with Hostgator.

We chose HostGator years ago because we heard that their support was unmatched. Fortunately, we've only had to make use of it a few times, but every support staffer has been quick, efficient, and skillful.

I am a light user. I have a blog where I post two or three times a week. It is not a blog that I advertise. Half a dozen (or less) friends know that it exists. For my uses, I have only one complaint: supposedly my blog should be accessed by my_blog.com (fictitious name), but it only works with my_blog.com/home. I tried all the tricks in the book to remove /home, that I could find, without success.
Had good reviews and the alligator looked friendly (for an alligator, that is).

The price is great. A substantial saving from my previous host. There was a problem with how they communicated the use of a form though. They repeatedly sent me a form related to site migration and I repeatedly filled it out. However, there was no send button or link. I ultimately contact service and found out they wanted the desired information sent to them via email reply. This begs the question, why send a form with spaces for answers when the form can't be submitted? This was unclear and bothersome.

I was checking an email in the webmail client as I don't have the email set up on my phone and only need to check it on occasion.
Price, and allowed content, my last host changed their EULA mid contract and restricted my site.

I was disappointed to learn that the SiteLock subscription I purchased did not cover fixing the security issues which it found. Instead, it suggested I hire someone else to do it, which I did. Very disappointed.
The technician, whose English was difficult to understand, wasn't very helpful and suggested I contact SiteLock directly which I did. See above.

The PHP need to be updated for my site. I called the help desk and they updated everything. They were very curious and helpful.
