I used hostgator for about 5 years, no real trouble with them and the prices seem to be quite a bit cheaper than anyone else. I would recommend them to anyone with a small business site

The "upgrade" of burying the cPanel is HORRIBLE, you have made managing my sites FAR more laborious with too many things taking too many clicks to get to. Secondly, did you not test this "upgrade" on a Mac and see what it does every single time you want to login and it's time to enter the password?

I think it was the worst decision to use hostgator, it's almost 30 hours from now when i purchased a domain and hosting plan and i still didn't get my domain domain name, it says pending.

Easy to set up, I've used Hostgator in the past so was familiar with the process. When i. Doubt, follow the directions in the helpful email, or reach out to tech support on chat or phone.
Solid product and service, the tech support is free and very nice, and there is also a huge knowledge base that is searchable.
Price is good for what I need.

I went back to Hostgator after I tried some of their competitors. I usually operate on a shoestring budget and "yes" there are hosting companies that are a wee bit cheaper - but once every year or two a problem will arise that I require help and/or action, super quickly and without dramatic head-banging and hair-pulling etc.
Hostgator is there, instantly, and I don't have to "draw them a picture" to explain the problem - they intuitevely get right to the point and quickly fix it or otherwise advise me how to quickly fix it.
Resolving any issue seems painless with HostGator. With other companies I have been very frustrated just trying to explain the entire problem at hand - and often realize I am communicating with someone who is less knowledgeable than myself (and I'm just a weekend warrior). Then about 3 days later I will finally get to communicate with a proficient problem-solver.
But with HostGator, I immediately can communicate with a proficient problem solver that listens to my entire problem (doesn't cut me off half-way and start assuming they understand the problem fully...).
Thank you, HostGator, for being a great Hosting Company for my small portfolio of "weekend-warrior" websites.

I chose HostGator to give my efforts visibility. But they secretly tried upselling me without my permission from $100/year to $800 for 3 years WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! I'm done. I'm going to cancel and never go back again, AND tell people to stay away!

I am trying to do a migration, but my ticket got closed and when I reached support they said that would reopen it and continue the process there, which didn't happen... The whole issue was with namecheap, and due to this delays (caused by inode number of files in trash) I now have to pay them another month fee, while my ideia was to terminate it as soon as I hired in here, but can't untill the migration is done, so the lack of feedback on the ticket, and the Request Migration form not working as it should (fails on give feedback on error, and checking the network tab it shows a CORS error), I am unable to make the migration happen... So I'm paying for 2 hosting providers, and frustrated at both =/

From time to time, I have issues with my VPS website, which I've had for the past year. While its implementation hasn't been smooth, with many more outages than I would have expected, about half the time I can get decent help. Recently, I've learned about how to reset my server. While I couldn't do that on my own today, I set out for help from Host Gator -- in the early hours of Christmas Day. Not the way I wanted to spend my morning. However, Sherry was there quickly, and she was very fast to respond to my issue, providing me with quick questions and quick guidance that taught me a new path for resetting my server and ultimately fixing the problem that brought my server down. I'm not 100% certain the issue is fixed, but Sherry's help led to restoring my sites in about 10 total minutes. Past times sometimes take lengthy periods waiting for a reply from the support person, sometimes with our getting disconnected from timing out. Not this time. I'm really relieved I'm not spending all morning on this issue. Thank you, Sherry!

I had the great pleasure or working with a representative named Angel, and she just might have been just that! I had called 30 minutes earlier to have my issue of being locked out of my account resolved, but the 1st person I spoke with could not fix nor explain to me why the screen said "failed security test" when I tried to log in.
I am so glad I took the time to call back. Angel was the person I got on the line this time. She was extremely knowledgeable, calm, and engaging—being sure to explain what she was doing each step of the way.
My situation was urgent since a whole chapter of people would be coming to the site for the first time this afternoon. Angel easily resolved my issue and explained what had happened, while the first individual gave me a number to MOJO she said provides 24/7 support but was not open when I called after hanging up.
Angel is EXCELLENT and Host Gator would have the top rated customer support of all time if every representative was like her in both knowledge and demeanor.

I have tried to cancel the domain transfer that I started, but was told that I could not. Other competitors are able to do this so I don't see why it is not the same with HostGator.
