Automatic updates caused HOA site to error-out on forum. Hostgator support was quick to isolate problem, resolve issue, and reset as needed.

In using a cost/benefit analysis, it does what it needs to do for me. Also, I have used them in the (distant) past.

Dedicated server configuration is slow- there is no Standard initial setups that gets most things ready like Reverse DNS IP and related Email functionality.
The speed initially was slow but i think it was due to MYSQL not Imported the sql file properly (100-150MB sql files)
Even now, its difficult to upload a 100MB sql file and most of the time does not completel the imports.
Long process and uncertain waiting times.
Hostgator are friendly with invoicing thus flexible payments and Once their system is working there is reliability. My data is also safe.
