I found this site while looking for a movie called Summer Lovers. After the experience I had, I wouldn't go near these guys again if they paid me to. I got an email saying that my movie was out of stock, and when I tried calling the "customer service" line (what a joke!), all I got were automated menus telling me to go here and there. I finally hung up in disgust and went online to cancel my membership, which was ALSO through another site, BestBrandValues.com. If people are smart, they'll avoid this site like a bad case of the plague.
The "hotmoviesale.com" crooks nailed me and I never visited there website. Never heard of them until I noticed the monthly charges. They must have friends in government because authorities seem to be protecting them to keep them in business. Why don't we focus on getting the name and location of the individual(s) behind this government approved scam and exposing them? Makes sense to me as we stop 1 crook and expose our crooked government at the same time.
I tried to cancel an order since 2 out of 3 items were backordered. I followed their instructions and sent a "support ticket" on 12/30/09. Then I received an email indicating my order was still active, so I sent another ticket on 1/4/10, so I called their number (that is one good thing - they have a number even if it was in India or the likes) and canceled. I also found out that I was charged a $9.95 membership fee that was never openly disclosed. They said they would refund it. Then today I received an email saying my one item had shipped and they would notify me when my other items become available! What a hassle.
The website itself is easy to navigate, but the company tries to slip in a membership to BestBrandValues.com in the terms of the sale. I bought two movies and had no problems, only later to find they continued to charge my credit card $9.95 each month for a membership to another website I didn't even know I had. I did NOT authorize HotMovieSale.com to allow BestBrandValues.com to use my credit card information. Once I investigated the charges and discovered the membership, I quickly cancelled it and they gave me a list of reasons why I cancelled. The top reasons on the list were something like "I didn't know I had a membership" and "I didn't want a membership". They are clearly trying to trick people out of money. CUSTOMERS BEWARE. The cheaper movie prices are not worth the hassle and no one should support companies with business practices like these.
I thought I was buying a video game, and after I purchased it, it suddenly wasn't available. Don't buy from this website, I think it's a scam. I can't reach anyone on the phone either.
After going through my bank statements, I realized that hotmoviesale.com has been making withdraws from my bank account:
08/28/2009: $19.95
09/29/2009: $19.95
10/29/2010: $19.95
12/28/2009: $19.95
01/19/2010: $19.95
03/17/2010: $9.95
04/9/2010: $9.95
05/17/2010: $9.95
TOTAL: $129.60
I called the *******437 and spoke with a very rude representative. She told me that last year I purchased three movies over the Internet, and that in the shipping and handling page, in fine print, I agreed to pay for a "membership".
I am totally disappointed, and I feel that I got robbed $129.60 under the name of "membership in fine print".
I feel that this is not correct, to deceive people that usually don't read the fine print, and that trusts companies that sale over the Internet.
Please, don't buy from this company, I was a victim of hotmoviesale.com because I blindly agreed to the terms of the "membership". I was not aware of what I was signing for, and I acted in good faith.
Hotmoviesale.com is a scam, they rip off your bank account and laugh at you when you call them!
They also go by the name Bbvhotmoviesale.com, and to get money out of your bank account, they use different names. Other name they use is HMS.
This site is a TOTAL SCAM! They are putting cookies on your computer for tracking, and they are getting all your personal info by offering false movies sales! Oh, I caught the bogus 19.95 month thing and canceled in time so I didnt get hit with the charges, but get this, after a month of them saying my movie is convienently NOT AVAILABLE, they cancelled my order! So I got NOTHING and they got my info for free!
DO NOT TOUCH THIS SITE!
Ever wonder if a deal is too good to be true? They give you a great deal on a movie and then bill you 20 Bucks a month for "joning their club". Rippoff artists!
