I am in the 6th grade and hate Ixl. It is terrible and everyone in my school hates it the system is rigged and they use fake reviews to lure people into their torture they need to delete the app I have decided to make a ton of bad reviews on their own website to try and save people teacher assign up to 8 Ixls and cause depression and anxiety in most students we spend soo many hours every day on Ixl this has led me & other classmates to be sleep deprived of so many IXL's we NEED to delete this app it is making the world a worse place and abusing the future generations If I was A teacher I would try and ban it. My friend goes to a private school and she knows from me showing her gust ONE that the system is rigged and for teachers who get paid to do practically nothing but torture students and just give students IXL. BTW IXL= stress, anxiety, and depression.

I am in 8th grade and have been using this app since 6th. IXL is beyond frustrating and I think we should not be using it (especially with these types of reviews). There have been too many times where I have cried over an IXL. I hate how when you get one right you only go up anywhere from 2-5 points, but when you get it wrong your score goes down like twice of how much you went up. Once my friend broke their computer from throwing it on the floor because of IXL. It has cause too many problems and I hope that my school will eventually stop using this app.

I find that people over exaggerate how bad IXL is. I feel like IXL is where you would go to review topics you already know and practice working on them instead of learning new topics. One downside about IXL is their Smartscore. It is a score system that changes every time you answer a question. The score will either go up after answering a question correctly or go down if you answered incorrectly. Once you reach a 100 Smartscore you finish that topic that you were working on. Problem is, after you get past 90 Smartscore, the amount your score decreases by after you get an answer wrong is too high. An example would be having a Smartscore of 94 but then answering a question wrong making the score drop to 85. This can get quite frustrating since some questions may take up to 20-40 minutes each. I can see how this might not be a bad thing ( so they can study the topic more and get less questions wrong) but I feel like it drops way to low. All I would say is, if you're going to get IXL, you better have the patience it takes to get a question wrong and work yourself all the way back up to where your previous Smartscore was. If you want to learn something though, I'd recommend Khan Academy.

They pick on silly things. And it has a smart score like seriously. And plus they got a math question wrong I do not recommend if you want a fun game to lear with use prodigy.

IXL Is a very unfair and extremely time-wasting app for kids/teens because if they were at, let's say 96 and they get one wrong *BOOM* have fun being at 72 kid and i legit broke about 3 mouses from using the IXL program so I personally don't recommend. Another problem with it is that it will never tell you what went wrong with your answer and will proceed to take almost 17 points from you no matter where you were. I could write a novel on how terrible and raging IXL makes me, but I don't want to waste your time the way IXL does so take it from me guys go burn your device if it has IXL on it.

IXL is a waste of your time. My mom has forced me to do IXL since i was in first grade! I had to complete all of the skills in the summer for the grade im going to the next year. If i could, I would give IXL a negative infinity rating. It has made me cry millions of times and Im going to sixth grade now. It gives me stress and makes me angry. One time I was so angry i almost broke the ipad. Normally, if you get a question right it glitches and says "Sorry Incorrect". THAT ANNOYS ME SO MUCH. What do you mean sorry incorrect! Ur making my life living hell! I tried explaining to my mom how i hate ixl and even showed her the reviews which are 1 star ratings, but she keeps on saying "So what? That's the other people's opinion about IXL! IXL is good so keep on doing it". I cant believe she doesnt understand its hows i feel too! Normally, I wouldn't hate IXL this much but because my mom makes me do 20-40 skills a day, I want to punch the person who made IXL in the face. I still do. Why do you think Im pouring all my anger and tears out into trying to calmly write this long comment? I so wish the person who created IXL never existed. Im sorry for being so aggressive but me and my brother really feel this way. Please, if you're a parent please understand how your child feels about IXL. I've tried to reach IXL for 2 days to get a refund and they have not reached back sense, I wasted $24 on this website. I got a 2 account membership reduced it to 1 that same day and the next day they said my member ship expired and I didn't even get my money back. LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS IS A DEFINITE NO FOR ME.

The ixl skill that I was doing was grade 7 X. 14 similar and Congruent figures. I woke up at 6:00 am in the moring to finish the ixl. I tried my best to do the ixl but sorry incorrect. I am very confused and stressed. Takes away so many points away. I wish it didn't take my points away and it sould explain to me what I did wrond, and what subject I am doing.

Its absolute bull. This is ok for reviewing maybe, but for learning or anything else it sucks. It plays into the super Mario effect, theres videos of that on YT but its a Shiite app

Just no, confusing, and its as if its a confused teacher not even knowing what they are teaching themselves nonetheless giving out good instructions and confusing generations worth of classes.

So, I am a 10 year old, and my dad makes me do IXL. He says that cartoons will waste my time, but I don't think that's true. But this thing is $30.00 a month! SCAMMERS!

Let me just say this app is great for TORTURING PEOPLE! HATE IXL I DOSEN'T HELP ME LEARN AT ALL SOMETIMES I WANT TO FALL ON MY BED AND CRY! I HATE IT SO MUCH! WHEN YOU GET A QUESTION RIGHT, 2 POINTS GAINED. WHEN YOU GET A QUESTION WRONG, 20 POINTS LOST! AND IXL MEANS "I excel" BUT YOU DON'T EXCEL AT ALL! God made a HUGE mistake on creating Paul Mishkin.

First of all, their little "fun" way of learning is just adding a timer, a SmartScore, and how many total questions you've earned. They want to make it sound like a "race" to get to first place (just like the average YouTube comment section kid) when they're going to shove the same damn question in your $#*! over 186 times. Their explanation system either yapps about nonsense jack$#*! or just says "LoOk At ThE iMaGe" over. And over. And over again.

The way IXL is designed is basically IXL saying "Hey! Parents! Come fly over to my website and suck my blood for the low cost of $100 USD!" and absolutely crashes your great and adorable child's mind. I remember using this a LOT during summer break (because back then my mom watched Lankybox /srs) and I couldn't tell you HOW hard I laughed when I read those IXL reviews back then.

Because THOSE reviews were true!

Their "award" system is so jackass along with it. I spent mere days and hours to- what did I get? A whole.PNG of a video game controller. Like if you're going to spend mere days coming up with a different way to impress the people who built torture devices back then at least award them with SOMETHING like a $15 VISA gift card or a $25 Roblox Gift Card bro...

They also give no mercy $#*!less to the person using IXL. If an assignment is about decimals and you accidentally add on a.0 to it, you go down to square one. I once heard that a kid threw his iPad on the wall because he got one wrong at the challenge zone, and how many points did he drop down?

THIRTY!

So don't expect your child to come out of school like an emo after doing thirteen seconds of IXL, because that right there's going to make you wish you never gave IXL.

IXL is a math "learning" website that only frustrates anybody who tries to use it as a helpful tool. You start off with 0% and every time you get a question right, your % goes up a little. As the questions are answered, the amount of points you get for a correct answer goes down. The bad part is that whenever you get a question wrong, your % goes down by 5-15% and you get even less % whenever you get the following questions correct. It takes every such a long time to complete only 1 lesson and by that time, I would be surprised that they even like it anymore. DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYBODY! VERY POORLY MADE. Please save your sanity and DON'T try IXL out...

As a student myself I can just say how horrible this program is. My teachers have me stressing until midnight on a Thursday night trying to get a Geometry IXL done. By the way I'm only in middle school, so that's hard enough. I'm currently doing it now and have almost smashed my computer 10 times. Also not to mention the program only brings you up 2 then takes you down 10-15 points. I've done this since first grade and I hate it. Btw I just smacked my computer again and now my handprint is stuck on it. Anyway they even force little 6 and 7 year olds to get it done in 5 days. I don't know how helpful but for all you teachers I can't name one kid in my class who hasn't had at least 5 mental breakdowns about this, so please stop assigning this to your students. If the school forces you please explain to them that this is stressing out kids every single night. I also know kids that have over 20 missing assignments. At least 15 of those are IXL's. So thank you for reading this if anyone does.

IXL made me have mental breakdowns. I've always thought i was stupid because i could never get any of the lessons to 100 EXCEPT some I've learned in 2nd grade which was FOUR YEARS AGO, plus the fact that I have ANGER ISSUES. This review is to tell teachers, any grade, that IXL isn't worth it, some kid is in a mental hospital because of this. IXL brings me back to 60 OR 50 when I'm close to 80, it's too stressful. Overall, this website is a 0.2/10 and its THE WORST.

My 3rd grade son loves math, but doing IXL -- required by his school during the quarantine -- has just about killed him (and us).

The point system is AWFUL for motivation; according to online reviews, I'm not the only person who's discovered this. My son will fly through a lesson until he gets to the "challenge zone." Then, he is overwhelmed with anxiety, because a correct answer gives +1 points, but an incorrect answer results in -9 points. As a result, he has to do 9 more questions to get back to the same level he was at before the ONE wrong answer. It feels like the myth of Sisyphus come to life.

Instead of working independently and reinforcing concepts in a healthy way (as is the case with Prodigy, which he loves), when he's doing IXL he wants an adult to double-check all of his answers before he submits, so that he can get to 100 and just finish the lesson. (I guess 100 is the required level set by his teacher? It doesn't set him free to move on until he's achieved 100 points.) He's gone from being a kid who's intrinsically motivated to love learning math, to being a kid who cries when he gets a question wrong. This can't be good, from a psych / pedagogical perspective.

My name is Chloe i am 14 years old using ixl im in grade 9 to keep it short whenever you are using ixl half of your grade isnt even your grade for an example 7th grade has 8-9 grade in their work? And whenver you answer somethng wrong you lose half of your points, and you have to answer the same questions over and over. Half of the work isnt even teached in school? And its so tiring so any parent seeing this please dont use ixl its so bad and tiring! Have a good day.

IXL is horrible you go up 3 points then if you get a question wrong it go's down like 15 and as a student that's really annoying it has taken me more then an hour to finish one before it makes me want to rage a lot and give up plus there's no fun part about IXL after you finish one its just an website that makes you want to never look at it again.
