There are lots of reviews on here that have one or two stars but those are just kids who hate learning and don't know the Insufferable pain that is I-Ready. IXL has helped me a lot through middle school and to put how helpful IXL is into perspective I learned imaginary numbers in 7th grade. Please do not listen to all these whiny kids who don't like learning.
IXL would have been great but, it makes no effort to actually improve the students that are using it. Unlike Khan Academy it does not have real time help options and a lot of time the explanations do not make sense. It has an extremely harsh points system that only gives about 3-4 points for correctness but takes close to 6 for a question input wrong. I have seen students have nearly 200 questions answered 2+ hours of time trying to pass and still give up at an 80. IXL causes more harm than good and has negative effects on the mental health of students. The image shown shows how long it took for a student to get to a 100 on their IXL through all 6 sessions
IXL gives you these horribly repetitive questions, mixed with impossible numbers that you will never use, and calls it a day. On multiple occasions, this 'learning' application has bumped me down 6 or 10 points, just for a minor mistake. The corrections whenever you get a question wrong never help, and they solely just show what you did wrong. Getting to a score of 90 is almost impossible in some cases, and I've spent up to an hour or two on lessons, just because IXL continued to pull me up by 2 and tear me down by 8. And when you're in the 'challenge zone', the point only goes up by one and it will take you down by ten, there is no in between. I have lost over 30 minutes of work, only because the questions fail to explain why I got them wrong! I have no idea why people think this is a good site to allow your students to learn on, it only causes stress, and it makes my head hurt. In most cases, concerning math, they will give you unusual numbers, which makes it hard to calculate the correct answer. And don't even get me started on the way they want you to execute things. To do an exponent, you cannot use this (^) symbol to signify as an exponent. You cannot use commas in most cases, it makes putting answers in extremely tedious. I do not recommend this site, please try to avoid this site/app.
I'm usally a nice family friendly guy that's in middle school but the smart score is $#!# if you get one right at the beiginning it gives you 10 smartscore but if you get 1 wrong it decreases you by an estimated 25 dang point, the only subject that this website is good for is social studies other than that it's only good for stress, making kids break cromebooks and wasting kids time fix this website along with it's smartscore and lack of teaching kids how to learn
One day I was using my IXL. And then I got a question wrong and it sent me back to 69% and I got very angie. I threw my computer on my window and it ended up hitting Paul Minkshin (the ceo poopy of ixl) and he got really mad so when he took me to court, he ended up losing and took my family hostage. He said it was just for jokes, and that he was No Cap just kidding with me and just Joshing. Not only is he a kidnapper he also used to attack babies by selling them glizzies that were actually laced with cyanide, so I think he should be in jail! That is a racial attack by griddying and doing the renegade on their graves like he just git a victory royal :(

IXL is the worst freaking app ever. Whoever invented it should go crawl into a ditch and die. IXL does not help in learning because whenever you get a question right, it brings you up about 2-4 points, but if you get one wrong, IT BRINGS YOU DOWN 6-8 POINTS! This is especially annoying when you work really hard to get to the 90 and it just bumps you down back to 79! It's extremely unhelpful, annoyingly tedious, and makes me so aggravated that I just feel like chucking my computer across the room. I DESPISE IXL with all my heart. DO NOT BUY!
Personally i think that IXL is the worst app to learn on ever. My mom makes me do IXL every day and i literally stress and cry because sometimes it takes me forever and the iXL's are really hard. When i get a question right it only brings you up like 3 points but then when you get a question wrong it drops you down like 10 which is so annoying especially when your at 99 almost about to finsh. So personally I wouldnt use IXL because I think its the worst learning site EVER! And this is coming from an 11 year old.
This $#*! drops you down quickly, and gives around 2-3 score. I could rather kill myself than working on multiple IXL $#*!. This makes my mental health, even though it been already been done.
ANY CHILD WHO HAS EVER DONE THIS KNOWS HOW TERRIBLE IT IS! Any website you see with a positive response? Probably sponsored of IXL, and has never tried it. I have looked at almost every website on the internet about this, and no one has ever given a good review. My dad is a math teacher, and even he agrees that this is terrible. I have gotten bad grades on assignments because I was too worried about IXL. I have not eaten because of that stress. It pushes you to be perfect, even when you know that you did it right, and all you did wrong was accidentally click submit before you were finished, and have to do 10 more questions to get back to where you were. The photo I have below? Those 57 questions took me about 3 hours. I didn't know the material, and once I was done, I still didn't know the material. This is just useless for anything except inducing panic.
As a fifth grader IXL have caused me stress, hours of work and going to bed late everyday. As I did IXL for 2 years, I can see why IXL is so Rigged. It cost a lot, it is stressful, and it is also very mind breakingly terrible as you fall from 99 20
Do knowledgehook instead. I just don't like it. It's basically calling you dumb. And you will maybe say... Hey how is ixl calling you dumb! Well here is proof. Do you know the smartscore? Lets just say you have 89 smartscore and if you get 1 question wrong you lose smartscore. It's basically saying that if your smartscore is decreasing your smartness is decreasing. And if your smartscore decreases to zero... Than ixl is calling you dumb. I hope they remove the smartscore...

He was never the same after IXL. He couldn't talk, only recite ixl questions. We tried to hep him but it was no use. It was far to late. We tried to sue ixl but they said to read to read the terms of service. It said their website causes mental and phcical harm to users.

My experience with IXL is horrrible is coming from someone who is made to use IXL almost daily and more than helping it degrades them with me and my friends spending more time studying. Kahn academy is 100 times better.

HORRIBLE WITH A CAPITAL H
Just when you are at 98, BOOM, you get one wrong and go down 8-10 points. The rewards are also junk, i mean, nothing is more rewarding than a digital picture, right? So do not waste your money on this junk.
It always makes me feel bad and whenever i finally get to like 82 points after 30 minutes and I get one question wrong I loose 8 points and I got back down to 76 and then I only gain like 2 this entire thing is rigged and stupid and just going on the ixl website makes me feel bad every time and feel just genuinely dumb so I hope nobody has to get ixl this app sucks and they should be ashamed of themself
As a student, I have never knew that IXL was so expensive until my parents told me. Also, I believe that IXL is just a platform for doing questions, not learning anything. Although IXL gives explanations, it is just not enough. I personally experienced how IXL makes you MAD! Every single time you get to 99 points and you get it wrong, you just loose SO MUCH POINTS! DO NOT TRY IXL! Khan is 100 percent better and more awesome.

Listen the idea of education is great but this IS HORRIBLE! You can put the right answer and it will say wrong and the instruction are explained TERRIBLY. The app lags every minute tutorials help not at all an d they dont have common since. # BAN IXL
Ixl is the aboloute worst i am convinced that ixl is run by the ccp and neo nazis and the vatican whoever made ixl is more stupid than adolf hitler makes me want to shoot up an airport (exaggerating) ixl has killed my brother he commited suiside because of ixl after he got to 90 on his smart score and got one wrong and went back down to 70 after that i saw him looing depressed and he went down to the basement and put the.90 in his mouth and pulled the trigger. I am crying while I am writing this review.
IXL is extreme garbage. You pay for a student (like me) to be only practiced. When you get a question wrong, it gives little explanation. And when you get over a 90 on the smart score, getting only one question wrong will drop your score by like 15, and on other modes getting two wrong will make you do the ENTRIE STAGE, and its so tedious it makes me want to punch my chromebook. The most unfair part is that people get graded off the garbage smart score, meaning you can get a B because of the garbage point system. So in conclusion: User friendly? Yes. Is the point system good? No. Is it worth my money? No. Paying to be practiced is super dumb. Just use quizziz or kahoot. Both are free, and neither have such a garbage point system.

Only use it for practice. And teachers, DONT GRADE STUDENTS OFF OF THIS SITE! Once again, the point system is garbage and one question wrong will give your child from a A- to a B. If you use IXL for grades, your entire class's grades will be lowered, as its time consuming and tidious. All it does is PlSSES ALL OF US OFF! hope this helps.

As a student at a middle school,i can confirm that this program is terrible. Its a waste of money and the "smart score" system promotes stress to young children
This does not help students learn in anyway and if you are a teacher or parent reading this, please, if you dont want your students/child/children to hate you; Stop making them use this website/app. As many others have complained, this website mostly penalizes for your "bad" work/wrong anwsers and it brings many of the students frustriation also excuse my bad english its not my first language. I suggest mobymax^^

The point system is screwed up, If you get 1 Question wrong you get set back a whole 15 points, it doesn't help that some teachers grade by these points. Please fix this.
It's terrible. The math questions are wrong like they say 500 is the right answer but it's 479. Don't use it unless you want to fail your exams and grade. I wish i can give it 0 stars
IXL sucks and has caused me multiple mental breakdowns especially when your parents are in favor of it and are making you not use a calculator when you very clearly need an effing calculator. Also, my teacher assigned ELEVEN FREAKING IXLS THE WEEK I LEFT FOR KYA THAT THURSDAY. And my mom wont agree with me that ixls suck and are causing me soo much stress and she is nagging me bc I can't remember what the heck they are and is threatening to ground me bc I don't have half of them done from last week (the week I left for Kya) and have a B in math.
