Since Kayak offers discounts from other websites, I appreciate it. The fact that they don't provide discounts for Southwest Airlines—which often have cheaper prices if you don't mind delayed flights—is noteworthy. When comparing prices on several booking websites, such Expedia and Priceline, I usually use Kayak.
I recently booked a hotel room at the Hyatt House Charlotte, N.C. Using Kayak / Traveluro using the Kayak app. I selected the 2 queen bed room but they changed it to a king room and could not get them to admit their mistake or any help what so ever, terrible customer service,
Why anyone would want to walk into a travel agents or use other sites for flights only is beyond me. Kayak filters everything down and is far easier to use and quicker than Skyscanner. You can also adjust to your own preferences if you have a favourite airline, or just browse with approximate calendar dates. The site makes it clear what are the cheapest seats available at any one moment.
Indispensable tool when you are traveling to get the best prices for plane tickets. Although it doesn't carry every airline, like regional stuff in south america, it does a pretty good job for US travels. I always use the search then link directly to the airline's own website. I've never seen a better price displayed on Travelocity or any of the other travel sites, and they always charge a commission and make cancellations are complete nightmare.

I work as a concierge and marketer at Hotel Maison De Ville. This review is from a business perspective- They are the best, if not one of the best to deal with.
I have had nothing but headaches dealing with other hotel search engines, whether it was incorrect information or having to wait 2 months just to claim our Hotel as OUR hotel in their business listing.
Through Kayak.com not only were we able to claim our hotel through a quick (but secure) sign up process, but the management screen is so simplistic that I was able to update the outdated information and have it approved with new photos in less than a week. That's a ridiculous turnaround considering that for other sites I have to wait weeks if not months for approval.
There was also an error when people were trying to book us, it didn't give our phone number and incorrectly stated we had no rooms. I sent kayak.com an email and they had it fixed in mere HOURS. I can't recommend their site highly enough.
There's no reason to search the other travel sites because Kayak already does that. This is the one stop shop for putting together travel ideas. Although the prices might not reflect the best deals out there, it's a good starting place for finding out what actual flights will get you to where you want to go. In terms of prices, there's a lot of strategies out there and Kayak does a good job of quantifying price fluctuations and trends, but sometimes once you know the flight you want it's just better to buy directly from the airline. I've been using this site for years and plan to continue until Google comes up with something clever and makes it obsolete ;)
This is my favorite travel site! It's so easy to use and you really do get the best deals! I have probably booked 10 or so trips through them. One time my flight was cheaper buy renting a car at the same time, so check out their deals.
Tip for consumers:
Make sure you check out surround flights and different days to get the best deal.
This site brings together all of the travel deals from expedia to hotwire and all in one quick simple search. You can easily find the best deal on hotels or airfare without searching all of the largest travel sites. I usually go here first when booking a trip
I was searching for last-minute flights over Easter weekend to attend a funeral. Of course, flights were hard to find and expensive. Two or three times I found reasonable prices on kayak.com and worked out schedules with another person travelling, only to find out when I came back to buy that the prices were obsolete. So disheartening and frustrating. I guess now that I understand that their prices are possibly obsolete I would handle my decisions differently, but this was such a discouraging process for me, under already emotional circumstances.
Low fares are us! - This site gives an extensive overview of flight, hotels, vacation packages, etc... It combines all of the major players as well as the smaller airlines. You can also compare it against Priceline, Expedia, Travelocity, etc... all in one site. We have found it an invaluable tool when booking domestic or international flights.
Give it a try!
Great travel site - Kayak's one of my favorite travel sites. It's very useful for searching for flights, hotels, cars, cruises, deals, and so forth... With flights, for example, it searches all of the airline sites themselves as well as the "discount" sites -- Expedia, Travelocity, Hotwire, Priceline, and Expedia. There are of course some other sites that are good too, but one that's worth checking out in conjunction with kayak is http://www.yapta.com. Book the flights at the best fare with Kayak, and then register your flights with Yapta; if the fare drops even further, they refund you the difference! It's great.
I just love their service. The website is very user friendly and got so many filters. I took me less than 10 min to find out the best flight and finish the booking. I am gonna use Kayak for all my future flight bookings.
The first place I go when I'm planning a trip is Kayak so I can see the full range of prices and options on my flights. Kayak is not quite as good at hotels, particularly in non-mainstream locations, but for flights it's the best.
My husband bought a flight ticket from Kayak.com. We waited till the next day without receiving a confirmation, receipt, itinerary, anything etc... nothing. I found two methods to contact them. Both were useless without having the information we needed from the confirmation. The bank showed two tickets were booked, but did not show by whom because the ticket(s?) were pending till the day before the flight. I finally called the airline and they were able to provide us with my husbands itinerary, receipt, etc. that Kayak.com should have provided us to begin with. Never! Ever! Again, will I waste my time with this search site.
Book a room for the same day and was transferred to Easy Click Travel when I wanted to make the reservation. Was charged $95.20 for one room at Super 8. Super 8 accidently also charged my account since they didn't realize I had booked through a travel site. Super 8's charge...$71.40! It would've been cheaper for me to book directly through Super 8. Will never use Kayak again! What a rip off... Tried calling Easy Click Travel to get an explanation and they said Super 8 must've made a mistake. Super 8 debited my account with no questions asked.
Tip for consumers:
Stay away from Kayak and Easy Click Travel
I like Kayak because it provides deals from multiple sites. It is important to note that they don't provide deals for Southwest Airlines (which tend to have lower rates if you are okay with delayed flights). I generally use Kayak to compare to deals on other booking sites such as Expedia and Priceline.
I never heard of this site until I saw it here on sitejabber. I used it to book a vegas trip and it was much better than searching on expedia or other travel sites as it figured out the best rock bottom price.
I was unable to find their phone number to inquire about my extensive and complicated travel plans including a lot of car rentals. Isn't this DUMB to hide your phone number? Will never consider Kayak.
Beware! They are fraudulent and would try to 'steal' your money if you're not careful. I booked flights around midnight with both BA and Kayak and cancelled both within half an hour. The funds were pending at the time but the next day kayak went ahead to take over £3000 while BA cancelled the pending transaction. Kayak are telling me I need to wait for a refund for 2-3 weeks!
Buyer beware. This was my first and last booking with kayak. I booked a car through this third-party and thought I had a deal and when I went to the car rental agency in this case Europa car after they attempted to upsell me On mandatory insurance(they would not except the insurance on my credit card) The price of the insurance was double the price of the car rental. I had no recourse and left the car rental agency and I'm seeking redress and it's my impression at this stage that my $2000 is lost.
I've talked to other individuals regarding third-party involvement and there is always a horror story. Numerous vacations have been ruined by booking through a third-party. This will be the last time. I would advise others to avoid third-party bookings in this particular case kayak. If the deal appears too good to be true it is.

I had a really unpleasant experience with Kayak.com. Booked a FLY ticket, NEED to reschedule and... there was nobody to help me. It is useless to talk with their agents at all. They do not care about anything. When I asked to connect me with the Manager - here is the same story - I was waiting the manager for more than 15 minutes and finally was told that he is busy and he would give me a call back later. Guess what! Nobody called. I call myself a stubborn person. I honestly tried for two weeks! But the Manager is always busy and NEVER called back! I do not trust KAYAK.COM at all. And you will also loose your time and money with them. I checked it personally! I strongly recommend Never Deal with them.
Misguided booking made the beginning of our Puerto Rico trip a bad experience. Don't rent from "Nextcar" in Puerto Rico. Don't buy the insurance Kayak offers you. And don't bother with their customer service. Because there isn't any.
They get the job done finding a low rate for what you are after, but the customer service was a bit on the rude side. Still I am getting the refund for their error of booking three adults for the hotel, when it was just me, my husband and my child who is ten. Be sure you are getting what you paid for, and try to avoid customer service at all costs.
I searched a fare from Kayak.com and found the best one on eDreams. I made the purchase from eDreams, but when the airline issued the ticket, part of it was in a different booking class than the original one. This was due to error from eDreams. Their customer service was miserable. I finally reached out to Kayak. They helped me and eDreams refunded the fare difference. Thank you Kayak and thank you eDreams for resolving this issue.
Tip for consumers:
Kayak customer service may be able to help with issue on other vendors one accesses from Kayak's website.

I love this place. Used several sites trying to do what Kayak does, but they are mostly so bogged down with ads and fake prices it makes me sick. I haven't seen anything listed on here that I couldn't pick. That alone puts them at the head of the pack for me~
Recently booked an overseas flight with this web site. Had to make a change due to an unfortunate accident and I will NEVER call them again for the following
1) Kayak books thru airfare.com after over a dozen phone calls and folks who lied and tried to extort an additional 350 dollar change fee found out they had listed us as a no call no show, even tho we had emailed prior to the deadline after speaking to an agent who advised us to do so
2)airlines folks where rude, non truthful and most definitely trying to scam us wide range of stories and excuses.
3) you can not actually get to speak to a rep from kayak
4) still on going but legal action to be taken to get back well over 1500 dollars in scammed fees
Kayak is a large price comparison search engine for travel. It has prices for plane tickets, hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages. Kayak doesn't sell any of these services directly, but instead directs you to another site where you can make a purchase.
