Since Kayak offers discounts from other websites, I appreciate it. The fact that they don't provide discounts for Southwest Airlines—which often have cheaper prices if you don't mind delayed flights—is noteworthy. When comparing prices on several booking websites, such Expedia and Priceline, I usually use Kayak.
I recently booked a hotel room at the Hyatt House Charlotte, N.C. Using Kayak / Traveluro using the Kayak app. I selected the 2 queen bed room but they changed it to a king room and could not get them to admit their mistake or any help what so ever, terrible customer service,
I have never found a good deal on here... when I go straight to the hotel or airline sites... they are offering the same deals! So, why give them a chance to screw up my reservations?!
Had to cancel a flight but got the runaround. Claimed they needed to get refund amount from the airline via an email correspondence. After 1 week waiting for the refund, I called the airline & they still haven't received an email from Kayak. Still waiting to get my refund from kayak. STAY AWAY FROM KAYAK!
If you want to be shocked that your reservation has been cancelled when you are getting ready to go to the airport, you may want to use kayak.com. I gave then one star because there is no option of giving a ZERO stars. I booked a flight to Orlando, Florida through kayak, was supposed to go to JFK then to Orlando. I received the confirmation for the booking and I even called the airline to choose my seats. On the day of travel, I was about to print the booking ( 4 hours before departure) when i realized that the booking was cancelled. I called Kayak and the so called "customer service" agent told me that they could not verify my payment with the bank!. I told him but why did not you send me an email informing me that, as you did with the booking confirmation. He said we tried to call you and no answer! He told me that they have nothing to do with the reservation anymore!
I have not received any calls from them. The funny part is that the tickets amount was charged from my credit cards as reflected on my bank statement, which was later refunded. We ended up buying an expensive ticket at the airport to Chicago instead of New York and bought expensive domestic US flight because we wanted it on the next day and booked an hotel for the night in Chicago. We lost one night from our hotel reservation. Will ask for compensation, or will take legal action.
I have used kayak.com to look for tickets for my two last vacations. Very competitive prices and very easy to do the search. I gave only 4 stars... well no one is perfect, right?! :)
I booked flights for my son to Vegas and for my wife & I to Puerto Vallarta. Both trips had canceled flights and we didn't get any kind of refund. This is the first time I had ever booked with Kayak and it will be the last! Buyer BEWARE!

I always use kayak to book my airline tickets. Although not all airline companies appear in the search, i usually find the best deals on their website.

I made a hotel reservation on Tuesday, 2/18/2014 and on Thursday, 2/10/2014 tried to make a change and was told that no changes were allowed. I would be charged 100% penalty. Outrageous... stay way.
You do nothing when we had troubles like you promise, I want to sue your company, why you just do the business like that? Lie and the lady customer service is not professional, no any star for kayak
I've used Kayak a few times to get me somewhere. Although not all airline companies appear in the search, i usually find the best deals on their website.
Kayak gets a 4/5 from me.
Booked 3 flights this year. Best price always on this site. Booking Prognose really helpful and correct most of the time.
Would definitely recommend it!
Improved travel site for cheap airfare/vacation/car rental/cruise deals - Started by the founders of Expedia, Orbitz, and Travelocity a few years ago, the ever-evolving Kayak is still the most efficient, comprehensive, and user-friendly travel site I've come across. It scours a ton of travel sites to deliver optimal combinations of itineraries and low prices in an easy-to-use display. Better yet, it sends you directly to the source, including low-cost carriers such as JetBlue and Virgin America (I was so excited when they added these!), to make your purchase. Booking directly with the travel provider allows you to bypass service fees typically charged by other travel sites and take advantage of benefits such as upgrades and bonus miles. One can filter to narrow results by number of stops, airline, airline alliances, takeoff/landing times, flight quality, aircraft type, layover/flight duration, sites searched, and price. Among its many useful features are buzz (shows the cheapest deals that other Kayak users uncovered in their searches) and fare alert (email notification when a trip route of interest meets or beats your specified price).
No accountability or responsbility of the websites they have listed. Booked a fare through the site they listed "airfare.com" which has No customer service, you need to communciate everything with email plus very rude and unprofessonal. I had a change request for my travel date, their website said " 350 + difference in fair", sounds fair enough! But when you get the quote its "350 + whatever they want to charge" as the new quote was more than the ticket available on their own website. When I asked fro explanation of "differrence in fair" I did not got any response, just a plain blunt "take this or u will lose all your money". Reached out to Kayak, but they simpley said "its not their business" and have nothing to do "Even though they acknowledged they had recived complaints and they should explain what is the difference in fair"

Absolute nightmare. Booked a flight from Singapore to Dubai via Emirates. Knew I was in trouble when I then got an email that said I "should" receive a confirmation within 1 business day. Most on-line confirmations are in minutes or hours now that it is 2013 and not 1999 anymore... Well 27 hours later, no confirmation, call or email from them... actually it is farmed off to a bunch of jokers called Vayama. I called them and they said, "Oh your flight has been cancelled by the airline, you have to call them" Huh, didn't I book via an online travel agent (you!) and you should call them? Oh and yes, he confirmed my credit card had been charged, but offered no discussion about crediting it back! This is for a flight a few days away, so I am freaking out of course at their complete disinterest in what is happening.
So, I called Emirates and they said that Vayama made a booking, but they never ticketed it (i. E. gave them the money within 24 hours) so it was cancelled. So I booked a new ticket with her immediately, paid a bit more but got the flights I had to be on for my meetings.
Called back Kayak/Vayama and told them to issue the credit. Still waiting to confirm I have this credit.
Will NEVER use Kayak again, needless to say. Do not risk it, book directly!
I made and paid (pre paid) for a reservation on Rentalcars.com.(confirmation # *******083COUNT) on 28 August 2015. The booking was given to Alamo at CDG Airport.
When I went to collect the vehicle on august 29th at CDG Terminal 1, they asked for a fraudulent amount of EURO 750 as a deposit guarantee for only a 3-day rental! So I decided to cancel the reservation but of course the merchant didn't accept to proceed with the cancellation so I was forced to pay the rental even though i didn't use the car. (Booking Reference Number: *******).
Rentalcars.com are still refusing to refund me or even attempt to investigate my complaint (online or by phone).
Seriously poor service - NEVER AGAIN.
My email: *******@gmail.com
DON'T BOOK THOUGH THIS DISGUSTING AGENT, THEY ARE DODGY, I BOOKED TWO TICKETS FROM SHANGHAI BACK TO HONG KONG IN JAN FOR MAY, WE GOT TO THE AIRPORT AND OUR TICKETS HAD BEEN CANCELLED, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY WERE NEVER PAID FOR! I PRODUCED THE BANK STATEMENTS SHOWING THE MONEY HAD COME OUT OF MY ACCOUNT THE SAME DAY OF THE BOOKING! STILL CAN'T GET OUR MONEY BACK FROM EITHER THE TRAVEL INSURANCE COMPANY OR TRAVELGENIO. WE HAD TO BUY NEW TICKETS WHICH COST $1200AUD - DON'T USE THEM
It appears the quality on Kayak has plummeted in the passed year.
They don't seem to verify their sources and I have landed on third party scammer sites. The first time it was a hotel booking, and this time it is a return flight.
Kayak sent me to a "hacker fare" site called kiwi. Having trusted Kayak before, I didn't investigate kiwi. My mistake!
Kiwi is a the worst choice to book with. This booking was for a family member who had to travel across the ocean after her mom suddenly passed away... Now, in the most distressed situation, already at her destination, this family member has to deal with some sort of fishy process that was not required for the purchase of the ticket to get there. Kiwi is holding her money, but not issuing a tixk we t under the guise of a verification process, which cannot be completed because the site freezes. When attempting to call, she had to wait 50 minutes, and on minute 48 the connection dropped...
So, at this point, Kayak cannot be trusted for its recommendations.
I will no longer be using Kayak.
Stay away from Kiwi! ( That will be a separate review.)
One of the worst website/app I could say to book flights internationally. I had worst experience with the customer care executives. Never book your tickets via Kayak, better go for other options.
I HAVE BEEN USING KAYAK FOR FLIGHTS FOR YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY WITH THE WEBSITE. THIS TIME I GOT CAUGHT OUT WITH A NEW OPTION TO SAVE MONEY BY BOOKING FLIGHTS WITH ONE AIRLINE ONE WAY AND ANOTHER RETURN. THE FLIGHTS SHOWED AS BEING $99 EACH. I WENT AHEAD WITH THE FIRST FLIGHT WITH JET BLUE AND 30 SECONDS LATER WENT TO PAY FOR THE RETURN FLIGHT WITH DELTA ONLY TO DISCOVER THE RETURN FLIGHT WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE RESULTING IN HAVING NO OPTION BUT TO BOOK A FLIGHT 3 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE. VERY SAD AS I'VE USED KAYAK COUNTLESS TIMES BUT THIS TIME WILL BE THE LAST. I TRIED TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE FIRST OF ALL TO DISCUSS THIS COMPLAINT BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND A WAY TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE FIRST OF ALL. TOO BAD :(
In Nov 2014 I booked a room at a Palm Springs hotel for 1 night (Jan 17,2015) at a price of $88.18. KAYAK replied with a confirmation #.
I arrived at the hotel at 6:50pm on Jan 17, and was informed they had NO RECORD of my reservation and had NO VACANCY!
I phoned KAYAK and spent 90 minutes on the phone and was told at least 4 times it had been resolved and I would indeed spend the night at that hotel as planned.
After 90 minutes, I was then told it might be another hour and still may not get me in, so I hung up the phone and had to seek any available room for the night.
It was then past 8:30pm on a holiday weekend. I ended up spending $167.24 to stay at an absolute dump down the street.
They obviously have no follow up to live up to their end of the deal and should NEVER be trusted.
Anytime I need to book a business trip, kayak is the first place I go to compare rates. They've always delivered exactly what I booked/needed. I have no intentions of discontinuing my use of them.
Why even get this dot com if you don't have kayaks? It's as bad as the WWF no longer having wrestling. And don't even get me started on the dot com for the White House.
Kayak.com... your commercial with the teacher who shaved the back of his head stinks... my advice... find a new advertising company cause that commercial is a TURN-OFF!
Don't book hotels directly through Kayak.com -- they don't guarantee the reservations!
I found a great hotel deal in Paris (France) for my honeymoon through Kayak. I booked my reservation directly through them (and paid upfront for the hotel).
Turns out it is scam. I had a friend in Paris call the hotel to confirm the reservation. They refuse to honor the reservation, as they don't work with Kayak.
I've now spent three days on the phone with Kayak. First, all of their contact numbers transfer you to customer service in India. They will not let you talk directly to anyone that speaks clear english in the States.
At first, they wanted to book me into nearby hotels which were literally three times as expensive... and they wanted me to pay the difference.
Next, they started promising to book me into another hotel, put me on hold and then the phone disconnects. Or they never pick up the phone again.
They refuse to refund my reservation, as there is a 100% cancellation charge.
After three days, I have spent over 10 hours on the phone (and on hold) with them.
Absolutely horrible experience.
My honeymoon is in two weeks and now I'm stuck trying to find a place to stay... and the rates are ridiculous because it is so close.
Do NOT use Kayak to directly book a hotel. They do NOT guarantee the reservation and they refuse to refund my money. (I'm working with my bank to dispute the charge on my credit card.)
I would've given them 0 stars if I could
The worst experience EVER. I don't think anybody should be doing business with KAYAK, period. I am a frequent flyer, I used Kayak on most of my international trips. They used to be amazing and their prices were decent. Something ha penned lately (I guess they have merged with travelocity) and their service when down hill. I booked a flight, paid for it and only to find out, a day later, that they have cancelled it. I called their number (which by the way was hard to find since they don't publish it on their website) and spoke to more then ten people and got the same answer, sorry we can't help you. Tried to go back to their website and rebook my flight again and what a nightmare. I chose a booking, I fill out all the information only to get an error saying that the flight is no longer available. I tried more than 30 different flights and was getting the same error. (the only reason I went back to their site was because I had already paid for my first flight and didn't want to lose my money) What a shame. I work in the hospitality industry and will have a good word about them.
Kayak is a large price comparison search engine for travel. It has prices for plane tickets, hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages. Kayak doesn't sell any of these services directly, but instead directs you to another site where you can make a purchase.
