“Keen Does Stand Behind Their Boots”

Mark R.
1/8/24

In 2010, I had bought my first Keens. Had been a Merrill guy before. I really liked the fit and the wear of everything Keen except a nylon eye went bad. I contacted them, and they offered to help me replace the boots four years later--not the entire amount but enough to say, "We stand behind our boots when you stand in them." I have now just bought two more pair, in 2024, after the penultimate 2019 purchase. I wear them a lot--and hike a lot. Some serious miles in NY, VT, NH, and ME. Thanks, Keen!

“Poor quality, and useless customer service.”

Steven S.

Off shore quality is poor, over molding on soles delaminates, and customer service is useless, runs you in circles, and does not honor warranty, if you did not buy from them. Just another company that sold there customers down the river!

They will rip you! Like they did me. Buy footwear in person! My new/old mantra. Outside of that they steal from you and me.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid this site bc problems will arise more often than not.

Keen used to be a good brand but now they begin to fall apart in days. I wish they would go back to the way they were

I purchased a pair of their NXIS Evo Waterproof boots at a 25% discount on Keen's website. Shortly after the warranty period of 1 year, I noticed that the waterproof coating was cracking in multiple places. They are light summer boots, so I may have worn them 4-5 months over those 13 months. I was grateful that they were willing to still consider a warranty claim, which they did and approved. So far so good. But here's the kicker. I expected that they would replace the shoe or allow me to replace it, but no. They provided a store credit for the REGULAR price value of the shoe (before taxes - oh how wonderful it must be to live without having to consider HST) but with the stipulation that anything bought with this store credit had to be bought at REGULAR PRICE ('cannot be combined with other offers, sales, etc... OTHER OFFER? This is not a voucher, this is a warranty case!). So, now if I were to purchase that same shoe, I would have to shell out another $30. Quite frankly, I am not throwing good money after bad and purchase a shoe that already failed me once and I will not do them the favour of buying anything at their hugely inflated prices.

And just as a side note: This shoe now sells at $128, instead of the $158 that I paid.
And that I don't really mind. I bought them at $158 because that's what they were worth to me.
Shame on them for wanting force me to pay $185 for this crap!

And honestly, I hate to say all this. I loved Keens - wore Koven and also Uneek for years (although the first pair also fell apart after a year - thanks to Mountain Equipment Coop and their reliable store warranty, it wasn't a problem). I am done with Keens. Bye, bye.

Tip for consumers:
Just don't use it.
If you still want to buy Keen's despite their dubious business practices, go to a retailer with reliable store warranty (Mountain Equipment Coop comes to mind, but their warranty has changed in recent years too).
