They don't even deserve one star! A few years ago, my wife and I discovered mold growing under our stairway storage closet. We called Liberty Mutual to come an assess the situation. They sent someone over and they told us that they would not cover any costs because the mold was there for more than 14 days. This is totally ridiculous as who checks every nook and cranny of their entire house for damages every week! No one does this. Liberty Mutual collected our premiums for 20+ years with no problem, but when we needed them to cover the damage to our house, they turned their backs on us and refused to pay out. What good is an insurance company for, if they won't cover your damages in your most desperate time of need? This company is basically comprised of crooks who take your premiums month after month but have no intention of coming to your rescue when you need them. Shame on you Liberty Mutual! I expected you to be there for my family but you turned your backs on us! I am wary of all insurance companies at this point. You can bet I'll spread the word out on your company and try to save other people from giving you their business. You don't deserve people's business PERIOD! You take people's premiums with no intentions of insuring them when they need you! Believe me, stay far away from this company! You will regret your decision to go with them.
LIBERTY MUTUAL IS TRASH! There is nothing stable about them. Your rates will go up often. My premium went from $7000 to $9,476, mind you I had no accidents and paid my bill. They do not value their customers at all. I been a customer since 2021 and my bill went up 3 times since. They lack customer service skills, all they want to do is rob you. Their system would automatically take my card off of autopay without my acknowledgment and they would charged me more because of it. My bills went up due to inflation, now it's due to medical coverages that went on their end. Everything may seem sweet in the beginning but trust me liberty mutual will raise your prices and then they will tell you they can readjust your rate like they are doing you a favor. Mind you they only deduct it by $100 but they charge you so much more that you still getting ripped off. Do not join liberty mutual, they will kill your pockets. They also don't have agents who are knowledgeable of the product and lack customer service skills. Just run
Asked for a quotation on auto insurance and refused their safe driving big brother app., I made it very well known there is way too much looking at my personal business in today`s world. It was not a matter of poor driving as I drove many miles for a utility in all sorts of inclement weather and have not had a ticket in over 35 years. The agent agreed on the spy app. I paid for a year of insurance as I do not care to be bothered with 6 mos. Renewals. Bottom line 1 month after paying in full I am being billed for over $70 for denying their safe driving app. Tried to call the agent, texted, and left voice mail and was totally ignored. Mailbox is full and does not respond. Finally I spoke to a clerk and she said everyone is calling with the same complaint and I asked her my agent? Oh no, all of them do the same and people are angry. Wrote to the BBB and the customer rating for Liberty Mutual is 1.11 out of 5-you can`t get much lower than that and a decent sample size of 722 customers. I turned in a complaint and the home office wanted me to write which I did and there was no response. Certainly a company to avoid. Plain unethical.

Imagine having your financed vehicle insurance or at least you thought so, to find out they dropped you because you filed a claim in 2020 on a different vehicle then you currently have insured with them, when you accidentally backed into a concrete pole that was in my blind spot, admitted to the accident no one was hurt just the rear panels on the drivers side of my new car at the time and you don't even own the vehicle anymore and it two years after that fact and to top it off you've been with the company for 15 plus years and recently moved your homeowners insurance to them to find out after filing one claim in almost 15 years to be dropped because of a claim I filed to have my brand new car repaired. I thought that's what insurance was for! NOT VERY TRUSTWORTHLY LIKE THEY CLAIM I will not recommend them to anyone I know or if I am asked about them, they've lost my business.
Liberty Mutual, 1 year ago my family was involved in a car accident. Bear in mind they did nothing wrong, leaving work. Next thing you know a car is in the driver side, crossing a two way road. The driver "did not see the car" they were ticketed, there was no dispute about whose fault it was. Had to fight every step, the car seat was finally reimbursed the expense out of pocket was 200. It was inconceivable the insurance co was not aware the car seat was cut out of the car by the officers. And that it could not be reused after being in an accident by law. There has not been one ounce of humanity, two children in the back seat, one got a neck burn where the seatbelt hit. Very easily could have done some serious damage to this child. I know it is about numbers, but this is insane. The medical bills are not being fully covered and no offer for pain, suffering, inconvenience, anxiety or stress. It is almost like the accident is insignificant, completely disrupting a family. It has actually cost this young family money out of their own pocket. They are going into the second year! I have always been of the opinion, in this situation the injured party suffers no loss... What a joke..
IF you ever have a CLAIM, get a LAWYER, because without a lawyer, you will be dealing with a Liberty Mutual person who is very young and are instructed to continue to do everything in their power to delay, deny, re-propose a settlement.
Our vehicle was rear-ended, their CLAIMS staff (all very young and unbelievably ignorant) will absolutely stick to a company policy that is directed to save the company money, instead of providing a fair settlement. Example: Allowing your vehicle to be in a comparison pool with same make/model/year but that have twice that mileage and are in a different condition. You will loose thousands in your claim. Then, your injured partner will get to sit in front of a Liberty Mutual provided doctor who is arrogant and very unprofessional ( obviously a patron of Liberty Mutual) - as opposed to serving the injured!
On a scale from 0 to 10, and zero being the worst, then this company rates a minus zero for customer service. Last Friday Patrick: if you don't pay your premium by the 10th even though your policy is good though the 24th I will cancel you for non payment? NJDOBI thinks NOT. Don extremely unprofessional. For new auto the woman who basically told me to be quiet and raised her voice to the point I had to hang up. Tells you how important you will be as a customer. Gets worse. Amanda " weeeellll if yo had given e your name and information so I could pull you up in the system I would have transferred you to manager. That is who Ismael said he would transfer me directly to a Manager. SHE DID NOT TRANSFER ME. Then comes Sofia oh dear God. She was in escalations! After listening to this litany of horrible rudeness she asks" WHAT IS IT I CAN DO FOR YOU? Really. She was colder than an iceberg. I hope anyone reading this and observing the whopping 2 star rating knows this is not a company you want to give your money to.
I was not even calling with a claim or complain and I went through this nightmare. God forbid calling in a claim.
Overall I would pay more and lose the verbal abuse, incompetence and unprofessional conduct.

I called LIberty Mutual to change my Snowmobile coverage to off season coverage since the snowmobiles will be in storage for the summer. All I need is comprehensive, and asked to drop the liability, and collision while in storage. I called in March for the coverage change. They sent me a form to fill out, which I promptly filled out and sent to LM. I assumed it was taken care of, but the next month they automatically withdraw the full coverage premium from my checking account. I called again in early May, the phone representative said the coverage had not changed, and to resubmit the storage form, which I immediately emailed to them. Now it's late May, and I called again to make sure it was taken care of. The representative told me they can't change coverage in the middle of a policy period. That explanation makes no sense, people make coverage changes to their policy's all the time. 1)LM is telling me I'm required to carry, and pay for full coverage for insurance I don't need. 2) LM has poor customer service, they should have contacted me if there was a problem with my request. 3) I'll be filing a complaint with my states insurance commissioner. If that doesn't give me results, I'll cancel all coverage with LM. This is a good example why people have low opinions of insurance companies.
This has to be the most disgusting insurance company (Liberty Mutual) I've ever dealt with I (Geico) got into a car accident back in May of this year which I was not at fault for and their driver (Liberty Mutual) was at fault for 100% and was told I would only be covered for 85% I had to come out of pocket for rental fee of almost $900 I explained to Liberty that I had renters insurance through my insurance (Geico) and that it would only cover me for 31 days and they would have to cover the rest I returned my rental back on June 20th they (Liberty Mutual) were suppose to reimburse me back the out of pocket expense of what I paid 100% once I sent in my receipt here it is October and I'm only reimbursed 85% I was robbed by Liberty Mutual 15% of my money and they refuse to give me the rest talking about they only reliable for 85% when their driver was in the wrong 100% I don't believe that was fair to me at all I'm a single mom who works hard like any other citizen in America only to be robbed of my funds this is definitely not an insurance company I'd recommend to anyone thank God for Geico who always have my back 100% whether I'm right or wrong I've never dealt with nonsense like this before ever I'm furious at how I'm being treated by Liberty Mutual you just don't do things like this to people it's not right it's not right at all especially when you're not the one at fault I wish I can give it 0 stars for this instead of 1 I wish I had my receipt in front of me to upload with this review this is insane
The Liberty Mutual claims adjuster will tell you what a beautiful home you have, admire your artwork, tell you what great decorating style you have... but they will NOT accept your claim! On top of that, their premiums are outrageous compared to their competitors. When my water bill suddenly increased, I detected a leak in my foundation - literally several hundred gallons of water PER DAY were pouring out somewhere below the house. I immediately contacted Liberty; when the claims adjuster arrived, I was told they were denying the claim because "there was no visible damage to the structure". And sure enough, there was a tiny clause in the 45-page contract that said they don't pay if damage isn't visible. So instead I was stuck with $4500 in plumber expenses, when I thought I had good insurance.
Foundation leaks are a common thing in Texas, due to our crappy clay soil that constantly shifts. I have at least five friends or family members who had a similar leak - with NO VISIBLE DAMAGE - and their claims were accepted and paid in full. Lucky for them, they weren't with Liberty Mutual.
Stay away from this insurer. Perhaps if they didn't spend untold millions on their ridiculous ad campaign with the emu and dorky 70's guy, they could lower premiums and actually pay out on some legitimate claims!
Stay away from Liberty Mutual, they have people like Michael F Kotas, a micky mouse claim rep, working for them, his job is to try to rip off people for liberty mutual, they left a totaled out vehicle in our shop for a month, then Michael F Kotas emails us to try to rip us off on our charges, because of liberty mutual horrible claim services the insured has to make a extra payment on a totaled out vehicle and pay insurance on a vehicle he could not use, we told Michael F Katos we were going to put a complaint in with the insurance department, his bad attitude was do what you got to do, this is what liberty mutual hires, real trash customer service.
They keep telling me I all the money all the way back from December until now when I have proof inside of my bank account that I paid these payments they keep saying that they don't have it and they keep doubling the price of the payment every other week I went from only on them 362 to $643 in less than 7 days and instead of helping me file a dispute and helping me to understand what's going on they're just talking in circles and just pretty much just throwing me to the wolves I feel really bad about this company at first I really loved it I didn't have any issues with it but now it's just like they don't want to accept your payments when you send them to them right away they want to wait three four days after the actual day that they're supposed to take the payment and they want to jack it out and then they try to return it back to your account but then when your account actually does show proof that it sent they will tell you that they never got that money and that's what I'm going through right now so if you're thinking about going to Liberty mutual save yourself the time in the hassle and do not go it's just a waste of your time in just a stress especially if you're single and you're just trying to do your best to live life Liberty mutual is just not for the people false advertisement.
I hired someone to power wash my house. The solution he used must have been far too strong because I could not only smell it in my house with the windows closed, it damaged the acrylic finish on my brand-new slab and destroyed plants that became spotted like they were sprayed with a chemical. They died off. I found out who his insurance company was and submitted a claim. No adjuster came out. They took all of the pictures that I submitted where it showed the tread marks of his power washing machine etched into the finish of the slab. I provided before and after photos. The power washing guy told Liberty Mutual that he didn't cause any damage and that the finish was defective and therefore he was not responsible. The finish was acrylic, and a strong bleach solution would cause damage. That does not deem it defective. In fact, if what they claim is true, then the grill I had sitting on the slab would have caused the same damage, but it didn't cause any. Liberty Mutual denied the claim and took his side. Their position was "we will uphold the policy holder's position because they are the one that pays us". So, it doesn't matter if the policy holder caused the damage if they have a "reason" not to pay the claim. My past personal experience with Liberty Mutual was horrible and it's the reason I would never use them nor would ever recommend them. They denied the majority of my homeowner's claim from a burst pipe in my home. They proceeded to ask the contractor to hand chisel the mud flooring to save the mud walls in the bathroom so they wouldn't have to pay to have a complete renovation. The adjuster priced that work being paid out 2 cents per square foot. Manual labor at 2 cents a square foot! Liberty Mutual is in business to make money and not pay out claims. That much is clear. They will do whatever it takes to avoid playing out a claim no matter the amount of evidence you have that they should. State Farm is the exact opposite. They are very accommodating. NEVER GO WITH LIBERTY MUTUAL. You've been warned that they are thieves.
Customer service had no concern for my issue or had any time to reply or try to resolve the problem.
My family got bad mold (which we documented in our claim including photos) in the kitchen at our house. We discovered it on Saturday since a family member has severe asthma and I have bad allergies and we were having trouble breathing. We never had this breathing issue in our kitchen before. We were lucky to have a friend who pulled up tiles on the floor and after a few tiles he said the floor was wet and soft with mold. The source was the area of the refrigerator. Prior to this we recently accidentally dropped a large package of frozen hamburger meat on the granite tile which caused cracks we were hoping to fix and not have to deal with an insurance claim. Perhaps the refrigerator malfunctioned or something else was happening in the floor. First they had me dealing with one person. He said I needed to have a mold remediation place come over but he didn't have any recommendations for me. I called and had a mold remediation place come. When I got off the phone and set up the visit from the mold remediation company, they had me dealing with another person. Two days ago, the other person said he would have everything taken care of in my claim after he spoke with the mold remediation company. Yesterday he said he needs to know the source of the problem to see if I even have coverage for it. He said we need to hire a plumber at our expense (after repeatedly telling him there is no waterline connected to the fridge or in the area) and someone to move the fridge to see the source of the problem. Liberty Mutual doesn't want to address my claim and instead is simply sending a letter summarizing my conversation with them today via mail. When I called the adjusted today to discuss, he was as nasty as always and refused to honor the coverage for the cracked floor which insurance companies cover on homeowners insurance or the water/mold damage. On top of this, I can tell you from personal experience their auto insurance rates are always at least double what I currently pay. I found out how high their auto rates were when I switched. Every so often a Liberty Mutual salesperson offers to quote our auto coverage and they don't know what to say when I mention how high their rates are. Liberty Mutual will probably send a canned answer they are addressing my claim which won't be true.
Answer: Terrible. I had 3 representatives within a two month period because they kept leaving the company. And it forced me to have to redo all conversations and added additional weeks to my claim time. When one of the reps would leave, I would get no contact and I had to call only to find out they were gone and they had to assign me a new rep. This process continued 3 times.
