I looked over the reviews on this site about Lumosity and got to say. Please let me sale you a car. If you took 4 sec to read the billing statements before purchasing the product, you would have clearly seen what the billing cycles are, and the options if you choose not to enroll in the monthly or yearly subscriptions. Has for me, I like this product, I've tried other free apps and for the most part. They tent to be the same mathematical questions, no shapes... etc. I'm only four weeks into the service and seen improvements with my way of thinking. Now, I and hope no one expects these games to make you a genius, but should help improve daily thinking requires.
Lumosity has over 100 million members, a lot of them, like me, signed up for the long term. That's why they can afford to cancel popular games with no explanation. I played Word Bubbles (classic) and Word Bubbles Rising almost daily, but never saw a banner indicating they were to be chopped, and they were not on the original list in the company's news flash. I believe Lumosity has done this because some of these games cannot be run without Adobe Flash, which pulled their service, and they would rather disappoint the customers than come to an agreement with Adobe. I'm very disappointed in the company, which, with this move, has proven itself to be just another business. They should at least have launched a survey to see who would be interested in having any proposed cancelled games saved. I now realise that Lumosity can simply close up shop, and lifetime members would have no recourse at all. I feel so upset it'll be a while before I return to the site. Caveat emptor!

Caveat emptor!
Worked great until 30 day money back guarantee expired, then game stopped almost completely, contacted support many times, and they blame flash, even though i have tried several versions, several browsers, and 2 operating systems. No satisfaction with support at all.
Its been a couple of years since i last tried luminosity and nothing has changed only 50 games after these many years in business they should have hundreds of games. Their ratings as to how well you are doing is flawed and a marketing ploy. Not worth the monthly membership.
It has been proved by many research that Lumosity does not improve IQ and all those false claims it makes on their website. They should be sued for misrepresentation. They also try to scam you with auto renewals that are really difficult to get out of.
Lumosity customer service is pathetic! Some of the games are interesting, but forget it if you expect scoring that makes any sense. I don't think even they know how it works. When I ask they say scores are based on an algorithm and they cannot reveal the algorithm. Hmmm. I usually don't buy anything online from a site that does not have a customer service phone number or chat line. Made a mistake this time. Emails take days to respond to, and usually are unresponsive to the question asked. Training reminders work sometimes, sometimes not. They need to address their problems, but they will have to do it without me when my subscription runs out. Waste of time and money. I give it two stars only because I enjoy a limited number of their games.

Tip for consumers:
Read before you buy, if you want cheap apps, cheap apps is what you get. Life is not free, so pick wisely. But don't be upset if you're expectation are let down!
Lumosity, at first used to be fun but after it got more people join, they started slowly making games paid. Now they made every single game paid, u can only do test once a day and to play the game you should pay
The Lumosity games are great fun. Whether they actually help keep your brain intact is probably debatable. But their customer service has got to be the WORST in the industry! Terrible! Unresponsive! Unhelpful! There is no way to reach them except by email, and they take days to respond. I can't recommend them for that reason alone.
Tip for consumers:
Make sure you know what you are signing up for. Be prepared not to receive any help or assistance in any way regarding your account.
I liked the trial run, so I purchased the year membership of $80. The games stopped running properly, so I emailed them to get tech help to remedy the problem. Two emails with NO RESPONSE over a 3 week period of time. They do not provide any phone numbers to contact them. There is no refund available even though there is still 6 months left of my subscription. Stay away from this website. Very disappointed in there extremely poor service and web functionality.
Lumosity is a scam. Be warned. Step away now! I signed up and found the training makes no beneficial difference to my daily life - and stopped using it. However the company never stopped charging. They provide no notice or receipts and continue to charge your credit card and refuse to give a refund unless you catch them in the act within 60 days.
Don't just take my word for it. It seriously doesn't work. http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/apr/21/brain-training-online-neuroscience-elizabeth-day
The site seemed like a good way to help improve my memory and attentiveness, but after 6 weeks my scores on "the brain test" dropped by over 10 points. Why? Because the applications are so erratic that it was impossible to navigate through them so the clock ticked away while waiting for something (anything) to happen. When I requested a refund due to this poor performance, I was told it's beyond 30 days and we don't give you anything after that. Poor applications, poor service. Stay far away.
I have been doing Lumosity for over 5 years. When I started, I could FEEL my brain working. It is an enjoyable way to start my morning! There are over 60 different games available. [I counted the other day and I only do 27.] I'll branch out when I get bored. Try their FREE program to see if it is something YOU will enjoy!

Their business model seems to automatically opt you in to an automatic renewal that you did not even realize you signed up for. They keep your credit card info and charge you again a year later, long after you stop playing the games! Then they refuse to refund your money if you don't notice it within 30 days. This practice may even be illegal in some states.
I just don't understand the negative reviews... Have been on lumosity for a couple years and have had no problems and found their customer service to be good... Asked them a functionality question one time. I find that the site has helped me increase my ability to focus and concentrate and really use it a lot. I suspect it's also helped me recover from an auto accident concussion i suffered. No complaints - I recommend it without reservation for those interested in optimizing concentration.
Stay away from this one.
Neat concept.
Problem is there is very little available on iPad.
They state more is coming but no action appears to be happening.
Instead of being Customer focused when I contested them they simply fell back on their "policy".
Avoid signing on with them. They are pretty lousy to deal with.
Not worth the trouble.
I started out with my problem solving ability at 99.8%, As I wondered where I could go from here, I've found myself now at 85%. So did I lose brain power?
My memory, though, which had been at 50% rose to the 92% once I gave it more attention and effort.
To sum it, I've learned the games and improved my performance of them to the top of my age group by learning them. After a while some of them became boring. I skip them all the time (hence losing points?) Some others I've reached as high as I can (e.g. Trains at level 12) and all my failed efforts only lower my scores, not improve my brain ability.
For me, Lumosity is fun.
Terrible company that doesn't give a hoot about customers. The single most reprehensible customer service I've ever experienced. I've been asking for a refund on the second year of my 2 year term because I don't have time to use their service and they just continue to refuse my request. I seriously hope that people stay away from this company and their bait and switch marketing. I'm actually shocked that their practices are in compliance with FTC rulings on direct marketing.
As a senior I was drawn to the idea that exercising my brain would help ward off issues in old age. I tried Lumosity but cancelled membership well within the thirty day cancellation period. One year later I received a charge for a new subscription. Upon looking into it I find that they did not return my earlier fee the year before and were now charging me for a new membership. Their excuse was they did not receive my cancellation notice. They refunded my new fee but refused to refund the fee for the previous year even though they admitted they checked my account and saw that it had not been used since within the cancellation period. Bad bad business particularly when you try to draw in seniors with your product. Be ware is all I can say. This company cares nothing about the good of individuals and only about profits.
Tip for consumers:
If you try it and cancel be sure you get something from them in writing that states they received your cancellation. If not you will never get your money refunded
Before signing up I checked the research to see whether I could expect some cognitive improvements or stave off decrements. It was clear there is no science to suggest any gains but I joined because the games are fun. There are lots of games of all types, but if you play any of them often you find the same puzzles and sequences cropping up - they definitely need more. Make sure you turn off the automatic renewal immediately after you join and pay your first subscription.
I joined Lumosity for a year under a promotion. The following year they charged my account even though I had selected no auto-renew on my profile. When I contacted them they said that their TERMS say that auto-renew is what they do. So you give them your credit card info once and they can charge it whenever they like? This company is crap. They have lost their mind and are teaching brain training? I don't think so. I'm working with American Express to handle this.
I love lumosity. My family have been using it for nearly 2 years and my mind has improved incredibly. My word recall is so much better. I've noticed dramatic improvement in my multitasking and problem solving in real life situations. I have also noticed significant improvements in my children's mental alertness (12 and 8) when they do it regularly. Only downside is that the games for mobile devices are too limited. We use the PC.
Tip for consumers:
Not worthwhile if you plan to use a mobile device.
I enjoy the site and I am pleased with how it works. I have had one technical problem in 6 months and it got fixed in about an hour. The help was very graceful and quick. Also - I have not been flooded with spam at all. The only reason for giving four stars instead of five is that I would like more games within each category.
Lumosity works. After multiple diverse games per day I can differently feel the effects. My brain is full of blood flow after every morning session. I can remember more things. I can feel myself more alert with decision making and attention to detail. For those who say Lumosity has no effect.. maybe you are not being challenged enough or not putting much time into studying Lumosity. Multiple games per day will differently keep you on track.
Good brain exercise; a bit expensive - The idea of creating an online mental exercise regime is a good one. However, I don't think science has quite caught up with the concept. That said, Lumosity has an interesting set of brain exercises that are fun and could well marginally help memory, awareness and mathematical processing. The games are fun, although there are not that many. The biggest drawback is the price--$49.99 for two years. But the site is definitely neat enough to try the 14 day free trial.
I found out several years ago that I have short term memory loss from a fractured skull when I was quite young. I worked hard all my life to improve my memory. I discovered these games about 5 years ago and they have helped tremendously. I enjoy the repetition as I try to exceed my scores each week. You can switch games if you need a different challenge also. There are still new games for me to play. I highly recommend Lumosity.
