Lumosity

I had signed up for a two year subscription to Lumosity on March of 2015. Unknowingly the account was set up on auto-renewal for every two years so I was a little shocked when there was a charge on bank statement for the two year price. After very little digging I came up with a page www.lumosity.com/charge where I was able to ask for a refund of this charge. Literally by the time I had filled out the form the refund was back in my account. I'd never seen any company handle refunds that fast. Not only that but while I did have the account open I found great benefits from the training. The games were fun to play yet challenging enough that I could tell they were beneficial. Thanks for the great experience, I will be a customer again!

Last year I found out that Lumosity had renewed my account without notifying me. I went into the site & set it to NOT auto renew. This year they went in an auto renewed again without my permission & charged my credit card. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company. I just want all to know that is company is dishonest I feel that you should avoid them. There are so many other companies that offer this service with better games for functions than Lumosity.

I really notice when I've gone a week without doing my lumosity training... I'm slower with my reaction time and less able to formulate solutions to problems. I don't compare my Brain Performance Index (BPI) to others and I try not to marathon-train or cheat. I notice that meeting participation improves (maybe that's due to confidence, because the night prior I was able to memorize so many names I am still in shock) and I'm able to recommend creative solutions to systemic problems in the organization. Love this site!

I love the games and agree they are fun and well designed. What I have found very frustrating is the constant technical problems. For example: I play a game and then when I want to play the game a second time, the game won't load. Or, on many occasions you can't even log into the site.

On the numerous times that I have reported technical problems and error codes, I get a "cookie cutter" response on how to solve the problem. I keep telling them that I have already followed all their suggestions and the problems still exist.

The technical problems cause a huge waste of time (and money). Yes - the games are terrific. But at this point to much of a hassle. I am going to cancel my subscription and look elsewhere.

Can anyone suggest some other brain game sites?

I love this site. I can really tell that my brain has improved. My memory is much better and I think I respond to everything much faster. Everyone should try this - well worth the few minutes a day I spend. I've been doing this for more than 13 months now and look forward to the daily games.

I love this site. I've been using it now for about a month. You can set up a daily reminder so that it sends you an email to let you know to do your daily exercises. I think it's fascinating to see your progress and how you rank with others your age. It has a nice selection of games and I have my favorites that I look forward to playing. If you get on their email list, you can get emails about promos for discounts to subscribe. They have a nice variety of games as well. I had to reach out to their customer service about something via email and they got back to me within 24 hours which I was very pleased to see. Nothing to not like about this site in my opinion! :)

Customer service is terrible. Don't pay for a full year by credit card as I did. You might be very sorry. I cannot login to my site. I'm routed to FaceBook for a sign in and cannot do this as I have no intention of belonging to FB.

I really enjoyed the games and saw good results from playing them.

Trouble started when I signed on one day to find I was locked out of all games.
Tried through their Help department and got very strange responses such as your profile shows you are under 13 years of age so we cannot help you. I clarified my age. Days later another request for credit card information etc. and still no access to games. I have been trying to make contact again but now no response.

Lumosity is spending a great deal of money on TV ads, banner ads etc. with virtually NO CUSTMER SUPPORT. If you want an exercise in frustration sign up to this sight.

I signed up in October/17 for family plan so my wife & I could compete with one another. She became sick & unable to play so when I had the time (wasn't playing as was at hospital) I contacted them about some relief or refund. James responded by saying ( I paraphrase) "Tough Luck we are going to stick it to you" so No Refund. We are seniors on pension but this outfit won't compromise 1 little bit. Wasn't looking for full refund just some consideration for our circumstances. Don't get sucked in... their games are repetitive & support is minimal.

I purchased from an online promotion. I am an iPad user and not tech savvy. Luminosity not compatible with Apple IPads because you need Adobe flash. When I inquired there's a whole bunch of steps you need to take to make it iPad friendly. Like use google chrome etc. Don't think you click a button to purchase and away we go. Can't get refund because my claim is past 30 day expire. There are other choices out there, less complicated and other more effective options for brain health.

I recently subscribed to a year's subscription believing that they would only take out the $3-4 each month as was stated on their subscription page. I was unpleasantly surprised the next morning when I discovered that it was not a recurring monthly payment as was advertised. I immediately attempted to cancel my subscription... made a "request" 4 times before finally threatening to call my bank and dispute the charge. The funds were finally credited to my account but now I am wondering if they will make further attempts in the future to withdraw funds from my account, now that they have my banking info. According to many previous posts here, there are more people who have been scammed by them than I thought there would be. Regardless, I don't think their business practices are ethical and will never make the mistake of subscribing again. There are plenty of FREE brain training exercises online without having to worry about getting ripped off!

This site allows you to play brain games that target mental weaknesses and exercise these weaknesses via games allegedly designed to promote neural growth in areas of cognitive weakness. They have specials and gift packages as promotions, but I simply play the 15 minutes of free games everyday. It uses a game format that tracks your score over a period of time, which adds a dimension of analysis that I find viscerally satisfying, to the experience. I especially like the Rain Drops (math multiplication and division fast paced exercise) and the game where you are a waiter at a restaurant and must remember guest names over multiple visits to the site, and their orders. It has help me to remember names :)

Why do you continue to let the review from Kate M. To stay on your page? She uses a derogatory word ($#*!) in her title and inflammatory remarks while insulting legions of possible customers. It was the inclusion of this obviously moronic user that dissuaded me from signing on, rather than the negative remarks from those who had trouble with billing. If "Kate" is an example of the people you have helped with your product meant to test and increase brain function, then she is a poor rep. She couldn't sound more stupid if she tried.

Total scam, another webpage to steal your money, starts with a so called free trial, then they just charge you forever until you realize you are getting robbed, games are trash, and not helpful at all.

I took a yearly subscription, thinking i would get access to 60+ games (that's a bait). After paying subscription, I found out there were 4-5 games (under each main section). Where all the 60+ games are hidden, I couldn't know?. So I regretted paying 59 $ for those similar type of games, i had been playing before on free access, hence claimed my money back.
Overall, some games are really fun but for a daily mental exercise (at that hefty amount), not a good deal!. Only if they enhance the numbers of games or reduce the charges!

I used Lumosity for a year and had no trouble canceling when subscription period came to an end. I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews about auto-renewal. It seems like these people didn't read the terms when they signed up. I really enjoyed the games and found them challenging and Lumosity added new ones frequently. I'm planning to start my subscription again, but while I was doing price research, I stumbled upon these reviews and just thought I'd chime in with a different perspective.

I have been using Lumosity for several years, but have recently developed a hand and head tremor which deem it next to impossible to play most the games on the site. I wrote to the company to ask for suggestions, and NEVER heard back. They are quick to take our money, but not to offer service. I tried calling the company today, and of course got a recording which said to write them an email which I have done twice already. I wish I could talk to a person. The company has already had legal action for automatically charging credit cards for renewals. You think the company would improve its policies.

Games were challenging, but got a little boring after awhile. When you sign up, there is a clause that your membership will renew automaticallly in a year. I circled the date on my calendar and before my renewal date, decided to give it a rest, cancel my enrolment online.
Months later, when looking over my charge bills, there was a renewal charge for Lumosity! I had not used the site since my cancellation. They will not reimburse me because of a six month limit for renewals. Shocked and disappointed! Shady response from what I had thought was a respected company.

Website easy to navigate, I used an iPad mini to sign up for an account. After signing up by supplying my birthdate and an email address rather than using my FB login (doing so gives them access to your friends list and google activity). I then answered a few more questions. After being redirected to the home page, I tried to access the "limited" games that are free. All of the games, tests, and other account items are all locked. It appears that if you are an iPad user the only thing free is the ability to sign up for a lumosity account, you must pay to access and use everything as an iPad or iPad mini user.

They have a promising product.
Top down non listening management
No contact between customers and staff.
Deceitful business practices.
What a pity. Frustrating
They need to make it easy to be in touch with customer experience. The do the opposit.

I also have been getting an enormous amount of spam since I signed up for the trial, I can't justify paying for a full membership to someone who sells my info to spammers. Even though I enjoy the games and was looking forward to getting a membership. You've said you don't sell to spammers but this was the only site I gave my email to in the last year and I was enjoying a spam free inbox until now. I'm very disappointed. My username is one word, the name of the country above America followed by *******@hotmail. I am careful about putting my email on the web, so it was easy to figure which company betrayed me. Well the second site is this one here jabber to complain about luminosity. Overall the site was good and the memory games seemed promising. I would gladly pay to see how much improvement I really find, if it was not for the way they handle the email address you give them. That destroys trust, especially since it goes against their very own privacy policy.

I have tried this service in order to exercise my brain. Nowadays, we are so busy with various things that we often forget about our brain, it also requires some attention. It's the very first reason of your degradation actually. People have to pay more attention to their brains in order not to get matured too fast. I tried here trial version and I liked it a lot. There are lots of levels and games which develop your brain. I decided to buy a full version of this application and actually nowadays I'm really happy that I have unlimited access to all the pdculiarities of this service.

When I initially started with Lumosity about 5 months ago, I routinely received my games before 8:30 AM each day. I prefer to play my games earlier in the day, but take today for example, it's almost noon and no games yet. The fact that if I miss playing the games that day, I lose that opportunity completely, does not seem fair particularly when the company doesn't seem to be execute on a routine basis. The company also left a really bad taste in my mouth when they sent out an email after Trump was elected, asking all members to contribute money to help overturn the election. I didn't pay for political commentary, just a few enjoyable games that may or may not make my brain work better. I doubt that I will renew next year. The games aren't worth the aggravation.
