“Sophisticated Scam located in Cyprus, Greece”

Suzie L.
11/6/24

Mad Muscle is a sophisticated Scam! Headquartered In Cyprus, Greece. The website is visually intriguing and appear to offer simple effective work out plans. The payment options are vague. They start with a questionnaire about your health goals that includes some personal information. Now comes required payment information. Once entered you are automatically charged a fee before seeing the total charges and what you actually paid for. I wrote their customer service immediately to contest the charges and corresponded with them for 4 days. They refused any refund. In their last correspondence they stated they are not doing anything illegal. Clearly a SCAM.

Don't use this company, they will screw you and refuse to refund their auto pay feature after you've stopped using the product. Single father of two who needed the money they stole out of my account and refuse to refund. Shame on your company.

Hello,
I paid for the trial and used it once and then never again as I didn't like it. I forgot to cancel as o just got busy. I was billed for 70 bucks and immediately with in mins contacted them asking for a refund. I was told they can not based on their policy. I then said I understand that but can we make an exception as you can see I have kit used the app or website in months since the initial day and they said there was nothing they can do. I can not afford to just lose 70 dollars and I have voiced that to them and they did not care. All they want is your money they don't care about the consumer. They can very easily make an exception just like any well run business does ie. Dept stores, Credit card companies, banks, most companies can and will make a one time exception but not them. Beware they will take your money and don't care about you! I am not the only one who this has happened to read the reviews! They do this a lot! Hope I can save others from the same pain in financial issues this is causing me.

There was no statement anywhere in the sign-up process BEFORE they take your credit card info, that you must have 16os capability to receive/download a fitness plan. I cancelled within seconds (immediately after the card was entered) when finding this out as I do not have 16 os. Then they informed the "refund policy" requires you must use the fitness plan for 14 days to qualify for any consideration of a refund. How can I use the fitness plan if I cannot even download the app? This is a predatory business practice. The company expresses zero interest in creating a positive customer experience.

The get you in cheap...then after 3 months charge the full price. Read the fine print. Don't do it. Find another app. Not worth the hassle

Terrible! This company does not stand behind their products! The most restrictive "satisfaction guarantee" even when requesting a refund within minutes of viewing their "personalized" workout plan from their so called team of "experts". You answer their survey/interview questions and indicate physical medical limitations that do NOT allow you to perform certain exercises and the recommended those very movements at advanced levels. Joke!

Tip for consumers:
Company refuses to refund

I unsubscribed several months ago and only just found out that it was still being charged to my account. They refused to offer me any kind of refund. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Don't get scammed like I did.

Please save your money. I purchased this program and realized that this program was not appropriate for me due to my age and health concerns. I asked for a refund within 24 hours of purchasing program and was denied three weeks later because I did not use the app for two weeks and then ask for a refund. At this point there is not enough time to use the program for two weeks, and ask for a refund within 30 days of my purchase.

Thought I was signing up for a different workout service (it has a very generic name, so I thought this was the company that owned it) but it was simply an AD that took up the entire screen. They refused to refund me, because their refund policy requires you to USE their product for 14 days, and requires "video proof"... Even though I had requested to cancel and refund only minutes after realizing my mistake. What an absolute scam.

Responded to a popup ad, they tout all sorts of features and benefits, and an inexpensive deal for ~3 months of service for $25 dollars.

What they don't make clear is that to actually receive all the services initially advertised requires purchasing add-on services. Screen after screen of added costs.

Attempted to cancel online - and couldn't. Messaged them and they canceled my auto-renewing plan, but refused to refund my initial payment because they "have specific rules and policies in place that guide our decision-making" and my "situation does not need the criteria for an approved refund" instead of a refund they offered me three months free for an app I have never used and never will use.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

When making the purchase, I was unexpectedly charged $100 instead of the advertised $25, with no prior notification. Nowhere was it disclosed that I would be charged four times more than the stated price.

Naturally, I sought a refund as per the refund policy, which clearly states my entitlement as an EU resident to request a refund within 14 days without providing a specific reason, with all payments being reimbursed.

To my surprise, I was informed that a refund would not be possible if the reason pertained to personal or financial issues.

Not only did the company fail to notify me of the substantial overcharge, but they also denied my right to a full refund as outlined in their policy. I strongly advise against using this deceptive app to others.

I made the mistake of purchasing the online programs from Madmuscles, only to realize very quickly that I did not actually want them. Within a day, I contacted their customer support team to request a refund since it only took a look from me to realize it wasn't meant for me. However, Madmuscles flat out refused to process any refund for me.

Their policy seems to be that all sales are completely final, even if the customer changes their mind immediately after purchasing. There is zero flexibility or understanding from this company. Despite my promptly expressing disinterest in the purchase I had just made by mistake, they did not care at all about making things right.

Although Madmuscles has ok customer service and policies (since they at least responded a few days later), they are unwilling to accommodate reasonable refund requests from buyers who acted in good faith. I regret giving them my money, as their practices are extremely anti-consumer. Save your money and purchase other programs elsewhere from a company that actually values their customers. I cannot recommend avoiding Madmuscles at ALL.

Wow, I wish I had read other reviews before. They did exactly the same to me as others. They charged Paypal for other services which I didn't agree to. As soon as I disputed those, they cancelled my account within 24 hours of starting and offered a 50% refund and never even gave that partial refund which was unacceptable as it was. This is a scam.

But I had to select at least one. Attempted to cancel subscription. Website set up in such fashion as to not allow this while instead sticking you with two free months and continued subscription. Canceling process takes you to option of clicking on one link that is not confirming subscription but tricking you into getting two free months instead of leaving. Stuck with $69.99 subscription I had no intention of keeping. Free Trial!? Beware!

Tip for consumers:
They will send instructions of how to cancel but will lead to same steps of accepting two free months with continued subscription.

Easy to sign up, but impossible to cancel. I tried to cancel yesterday. Hit the cancellation button which extended my subscription for an additional two months.

To add insult to injury, I was billed twice on the same day. Two charges to my credit card for two different amounts. Charges are currently being disputed with my credit card company.

Tip for consumers:
When you try to cancel, they extend your membership for two months.

Typically do not write reviews!
But they charged my CC for upcoming months, after several attempt to get them reverse the charge as I was not using the app & had not intended to use it beyond the initial terms. (was not aware that would be charged automatically)
Could not get them to credit my CC. They just trying to give more access to the app that I had not used!
Repeated attempts didn't go anywhere & finally had to dispute the charge.
Wasted so much time!
Can't believe how short sighted such a company can be!

I purchased the Mad Muscles app with an expectation that it would give me a good customized workout and meal plans. What I got was a generic slow, paced easy workout with meal plans that included fish despite me specifically stating in the set up that I don't eat fish. No customer service number to call so my refund request was done through email.

Customer service emails were professional and prompt. However, they denied my refund stating internal policies did not allow it.

According to Madmuscle's policy, the refund must be requested within 24 hours of registration, I did it after only 4 hours and they never gave me my money back. I do not recommend this garbage application, they scam and lie

I tried to cancel after signing up because
Medical issue.

The cancellation process is somewhat confusing and given my state at the time I attempted to cancel, I apparently did not do it correctly.

I asked for a refund for the month that I was charged but it was denied.

If the cancellation process didn't mislead you into withdrawing your cancellation request when you think you're finalizing the cancellation, I wouldn't be annoyed with them.

But here we are…

This company is a scam. Firstly, over charged me. They agreed to refund, but never sent back my money. They claim they did, but they didn't. I asked for proof, they sent me nothing to show it was sent back to my card, in my name. Anyone else suffering with this awful company, I recommend getting in touch with European Ombudsman to as they are very helpful. Avoid at all costs.

They lure you in with promises to buy a subscription for just 1 euro, but then they start deducting much larger amounts. Cancelling the plan in the app doesn't work, and other advertised features not functioning further prove that the app was designed to deceive and extort money fraudulently. Unfortunately, I didn't read reviews before entering my card details; many have been deceived, and I had to block my card. Support inquiries yielded no results, even though I have video evidence. Don't fall for it!

I download and purchased this app because showed up in a Starting Strength app search. It took me several days to actually open the app after I purchased it and it was nothing even close to a Starting Strength routine. I immediately asked for a refund, and after several days they told me they have certain rules that do not allow refunds. Typical scam app.

I had a highly negative experience with the Mad Muscles app. Multiple unauthorized charges were made, far exceeding the advertised amount, totaling over £60 for a 3-month service. Despite paying, there were no noticeable changes in the application. The promised personalized recipe program turned out to be disorganized and haphazardly distributed. Upon requesting cancellation and a refund, customer service denied my request, citing criteria I allegedly did not meet. Fortunately, my credit card company intervened, and I managed to recover my money. I strongly advise staying away from this app; it's a scam!
