This company's webmail is still considered the largest per amount of accounts worldwide. They've been around for years, 15 years, now. Though the company has been under the business media's scope for months, this e-mail application is very well tested and has ease of use with neat practicalities. The free accounts allow many folks to have multiple accounts, as needed. They do have some degree of spam filtering, and one can further set-up greater filtering, if chosen. Also, they have an ID authentication, and one can sign-on from Facebook and Google. Also, they have a classic version of the webmail for individuals that prefer the old-school style, especially the dinosaurs with accounts over 10 years. The present version is about a year old – I've used their webmail service for years.
I have a email with yahoo, I sent from my son telephone pictures and yahoo say is spam I loss all my pictures because yahoo does not allow me to download, I'm very unhappy with this email

I would have given four stars in Dec of 2023. However, political emails coming in from many places is spamming up my account. It needs to step up like Google mail to get rid of political spam that is coming from multiple places. Interestingly, it is spam that says horrible things about the current president when I am a dem, I just don't want it clogging up my inbox and it does not help to report it as spam or unsubscribe.
Guys try to transit to other e mails as soon as possible. Yahoo will lock you out of your account even if you know your password and pretend to send you OTP s on your registered number which you ll never receive. Then they will ask you for money to help you recover it. STAY AWAY!
I have used Yahoo mail for many many years, this latest change (update) is stupid. After reading "unread" email I hit the back button like always and the email disappears, it's gone to points unknown. When the app opens it takes you to priority mail, Why? Stupid is stupid! Yahoo mail has become an inconvenient app to use for a basic function. Thinking about changing my primary email app, will most likely jump ship this week.
What's the use of a mail app/website that can't even receive an email. I am waiting for my facebook confirmation email and I waited for 10 minutes. I kept refreshing my mail, and surprise! Nothing. Thank you, Yahoo. Just shut it down, please. You're old. Rest.
Yahoo Mail used to be great. I have had my account for over 20 years, but this company and their e-mail service has gone downhill so much I am seriously considering switching to Gmail. There is not one day go by where I don't get at least five spam e-mails wanting me to take a survey or claim a gift card. It doesn't matter how many times I send the messages to the Spam folder, I get more anyways. The "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the message doesn't work, it just takes you to their website.
I have a feeling they turned down spam filtering on their basic accounts so people will be forced to sign up for Yahoo Mail Plus, which is a premium subscription that costs about $20/month. Luckily I am too smart to fall for their corporate games. I will not pay a premium subscription so I can fatten someone's golden parachute! Nice try, Yahoo!
Tip for consumers:
Would not recommend signing up.

Certainly not worth 1 star. System continues locking me out when I'm sure all is well AMY at the premier rate recovery team is beyond useless. Second worst employee after her manager who had obviously been promoted way way beyond his abilities.
Since they "upgraded" their mail program, yahoo has been buggy, and always crashes when I try to log out... sometimes it takes 5 or 6 tries to log off... Very annoying. Long load times are just plain frustrating too: P
On the up side... the spam filter is still working great!
I see a lot of Yahoo reviewers just like me, we've had Yahoo mail for over 20 years, since back when they were good. Now they are doing everything they can to make people with free email accounts either pay up or leave. That is why Yahoo email breaks in a different way every other week, it's just part of the plan. My account has become nearly useless in the last 6 months. Too bad I can't give Yahoo a rating of zero stars.

I've been a Yahoo subscriber for almost 20 years, I was happy until they went to the dark side.
Among the worst customer service you'll EVER experience.
Very intrusive advertising.
Yahoo no longer has email as its primary purpose, it's more like a bulletin board of cluttered garbage.
Spam protection is very poor.
Looking for decent, free email? I've found a few out there, I'm going to gmail because I want simple, uncluttered, safe email with good quality service.
BooHoo yahoo - Good riddance!
Some emails from certain senders keep going to junk folder for no apparent reason. And I can't figure out how to make it stop from the email app on my iphone. Overall Yahoo Mail is hard to use and not user friendly.
I just got my annual bill for Yahoo Mail Pro (frankly, I had forgotten that I even had it set to automatically renew). The price jumped $15, and I got no notice prior to the charge. Once charged, the support person said, "Yahoo Mail Pro is an automated service that renews automatically at the end of its paid term. Unfortunately, based on Yahoo terms and conditions there is no refund. I'm very sorry I won't be able to issue you any refund."
I have plenty of subscriptions that automatically renew. I generally get notification before my credit card (in this case PayPal account) gets charged. I definitely get notification before prices change. What's up with this?
So scandalous. Long story short, I have the password and cell phone for second authorization, I was waiting on the second authorization code to be sent to my phone but it never did. I called customer service they pretty much blackmail me by saying "yeah we can help you out right now and get you into your account but pay us first... sign up for premium service. I feel robbed and kicked while I was down. Everyone is broke, but Yahoo is thriving. I'm still locked out w dire emails to respond to
I've been using Yahoo mail for free for years. Decades. But since the inception of Yahoo+, they have been pulling back features and pushing users to start paying for the extra benefits of the Plus service even though most of those features were previously in their free service. And just to make sure that you are suitably enticed...in one day my SPAM folder went from 10-15 emails a day to over 80-100. Something happened. I contacted Yahoo and they dismissed it as the nature of the beast. BUT, if I switched to Yahoo+... Yeah, you know how it went from there. So, no thanks Yahoo. And now I'm out to find a better solution.

I just got locked out of one of my accounts because Yahoo thought it would be a good idea to randomly ask their users with their mandatory security questions if they think that "it's not you" who's signing in your email. I forgot the answer to the security question, so I can't access my account anymore. Now, I'm furious with the stupidity induced by the dumb***** who work at Yahoo.
Oh, and one of my accounts were compromised according to Yahoo's automated system emails when I opened it. According to the automated messages, it was sending russian emails to russian websites.
And when you sign in, they keep asking you for information like your mobile number or some random crap involving account security. Well, they're just doing those so you will think that they're secure and they work with effort on that field, but it's not and they fall flat on their faces instead.
Was booted offline and was not able to reset password without contacting customer support which is now a paid service. Had to spend an hour online with "Ed" who kept trying to sell me the upgraded version of Yahoo. I've had this account for over twenty years and never had an issue doing a password reset (that I didn't forget in the first place). Got a "deal" of $8.99 to buy their stupid subscription so I can get access and get everything transferred to another service. Ed gave me a "warning" when I called bull$#*! so I almost got sent to Yahoo jail, but also made sure to tell me to 'have a great day!" at the end of our conversation. So long Yahoo!
Their system used to work well however their new system is quite poor. They have gone from an efficient system that worked to one that is buggy and continually shows pops ups asking if you'd like to accept their advertising - it never goes away and you can't click no. I suspect this is an illegal practice in Europe. Sending emails to help support is time wasted as nothing ever comes back. Avoid.
Yahoo is locking me out of my own email address. I have the right password and access to my recovery email but the code is not showing up. I even called their "premium" support and they said there was nothing that they can do. Scam!
I have tried to get help for days now. I have been told to delete drafts, wait 2 hours. Then told to not send an email and wait 12-24 hours. No one can tell me the reason for my issues NOR can they tell me how to fix. Worst of all the english is awful to understand. Just absolutely horrible service. The 4.99 i paid was supposed to give 24/7 tech support, however when I called yesterday they said they could only put me thru to someone on monday! What a sham!
1. How many times do I have to tell them that I want basic mail and not their new advertisement setup? Every time I click an email, there it is! I can't read the email until I answer the stupid question again.
2. I will NEVER give Yahoo! Permission to read my emails! What an obnoxious and creepy recurring request!
3. Could the political bias in the news stories I have to look at to see my emails be any more obvious? How many people are they trying to alienate?
4. It is time for me to get a new email service. Yahoo! Failed in the end. It was a great service for a long time, but it is terrible now. I seriously question whether they are trying to go out of business.
Long story short, I was trying to gain access to a childhood account because it was how I would recover so much nostalgic memories from old social media accounts. The man said the account isn't accessible and hung up. No explanation or anything.
Yahoo! Used to have customer service and quality until it sold out sometime after 2009 to me. Now, the mail is terrible if you want security from hackers and spies. Also, it benefits the rich people who can afford a nice phone instead of the poor people when registering for an account. Another greedy business that is the opposite of compassionate. The customer support desk is nonexistent, so it is unreliable. After what I said, you might realize this is not an email provider that cares about you enough that it will not protect you from hackers and it requires you to waste phone money. This is a scam, not user friendly service.
Yahoo Mail used to be great, but that is no longer the case, mostly because of all the horrible changes they made in recent years. I still like Yahoo Mail's format better than the rest, but they should have left things as they were a long time ago. Yahoo Mail makes improvements in the same manner that eBay makes improvements all the time. Their so called improvements often make things worse.
Yahoo mail has changed a lot by time with so many positive changes.
And I being the user of Yahoo is a long journey to share here and I felt that many things are quite good from email settings to email reading.
But one thing that I don't like is the advertisements placement on top of our email inbox. Many times while opening the top most email, the advertisement gets clicked and sometimes it annoying, as it distracts while reading an email.
FYI theirs a lot of space in yahoo site where the ads can be put or visible to users. And it also questions the safety and security of a user who's part of yahoo mail.
