“I downloaded the latest free version 2 with no trouble...”

duncan l.
7/17/14

I downloaded the latest free version 2 with no trouble. It required a re-boot and did a scan when re-booted. I have been using this program along with my paid for program for years and it is very reliable. I use the add-on Chameleon for this to work safely without being hacked it must be put into the same folder as Malwarebytes. I dont have any trouble with it or other protection programs as apart from my paid one none are run in real time but only on demand. Its the one hackers fear as a high tech. Hacker tried to disable it but couldnt so caused my PC to switch off. I wouldnt be without it.

“Malwarebytes Update Damaged or Disabled All Appa”

Judy L.
5/18/24

Early yesterday May 18,2024 notified to update. Updated, then scanned. All apps damaged or disabled. Cleared browsing data and restarted. No improvement. 3 times. Support ticket via email. No response. Contact on Facebook Messenger. Jerked me around. Provided support ticket number. Promised an agent would contact me. None did. Can't even get into Google Play to uninstall. No support. Try to log in to my Malwarebytes account with password. They email me verification code, enter, says Invalid Code. Starting to look like a scam.

I was using the free version which allows you to scan your Mac on command. I decided buy for $40 annual fee the full automatic scanning version. Don't do it! A process called RTProtectionDaemon will suck up your machine. Many folks have this problem. Hard to imagine the even tested this. I took me a while but I finally got it uninstalled. (You have to download the install package - inside you have an uninstall choice. Bad product.

Whatever you do, do not pay for premium service from Malwarebytes.
Accounts are auto-renewed with this auto-renew being frustratingly hard to turn off.
I have not used this product for years, yet have been continually charged. Again today I have made many attempts to cancel the auto-renewal to no avail. I have written to them to ask for assistance, so far I have been met with silence.
This is deceptive and deceitful behaviour.
As for the product itself? Any good antivirus product will work just as well.
From my experience I cannot stress enough. DO NOT PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION FOR THIS PRODUCT... I am disgusted and would give Malwarebytes a lot less than a one star rating if the option was available.

The only customer service that Malwarebytes has is through emails. So when you get instructions, which can take days to get, they left out important details. So you have to email them again, and again you might have to wait days. They lose information they request, and you sent, and they ask for the same info again. Again more time lost waiting for emails. When you start with a problem, they give you a ticket number. After 3-10 days, they give you a new ticket number. Lots of the information that they ask for, you send them, but it gets lost with the old ticket number. When you refer them to the old ticket number, they say it is lost, and you have to start over, often with a new person responding to your emails. I understand from other reviews, that you cant get your money back. Find an antivirus or antimalware that has REAL customer service.

I experienced problems and eventually they got more serious. Malwarebytes tech requested access to my PC and said I needed help from a specialist and transferred me to a person with a strong mid eastern accent who claimed he was in Canada. He screened my PC and told me I had a baaad virus and he could fix it for $100. I bid adieu and noticed I now had a missing MSVPC100. Dll; it could only have happened when he downloaded his virus checker "clean my pc." This is just about impossible to fix. These folks are unscrupulous, do not load even the free trial in your pc. I tried to rate it a quarter star and the system would not let me, thus a star.

I was playing minecraft and running around at night and a malwarebytes popup caused a creeper to blow up my house. Hey Malwarebytes, how about you leave me ALONE. I swear I have turned off notifications for it like a lot of times and it keeps coming back? I trust it as a tool to search for viruses but until now I have never gotten like a single one so? Not that useful! I appreciate that it is free but maybe stop pestering us little guys, girls and others to purchase premium thanks, because I have NO MONEY and WILL NOT BUY IT.

I used to like Malwarebytes Anti-malware and recommended it to clients. After finding out that they removed Iobit Advanced Systemcare 10.2 from my computer since they seem to think that it is a PUP. I removed MBAM from my pc and am not going to recommend their product to my clients anymore unless they fix their mistake. I trust Iobit and use several of their products. Malwarebytes is no-longer trustworthy. It piss's me off that their software which I still have a Premier membership for at least 140 something days is now useless. Buyer Beware!

I have pre-paid Premium version for a two year period.
What I dislike (read - HATE) is the fact that when I end up on a website that they deemed "unsafe", I have to jump through loops and hoops to give myself access to that site since I know for a fact that is safe!
All we need is button that after a warning, allows us to continue to that website because that what we want not prevent us regardless because that what you think needs to happen!
Overall the paid version is ok. Would I renew my subscription? NO WAY IN HELL!

If this company can rewrite the software for an update, why can't they write the program to remove the old software at the same time? You can't download the new unless you remove the old. When you remove the old how do you get to the site to upload the new/? It sucks!

Had this for year, not one bloody virus for detected, used other malware scanners such as hitmanpro and avast which detected several virus's... When the came time to pay for a new year, I cancelled, thought that to be it, nope. Couple months after I cancelled they charge me 60$ and say I didnt cancel, what a load of bs. I get them to respond after 5 $#*!ing days and they say'll give me a refund which will be in my account within 5-7 business days, alright, can deal with that. Soon as I get bloody paid, another 60$ is taken out of my account... Looked on malwarebyte account, they charged me 60$ straight after they refunded. Now Im down 120$ with no a penny insight so far. Will never use them again.

Tip for consumers:
don't buy them.

I have been using Malwarebytes for years. Used the free version for quite a few years, always with either Norton or MacFee. Put the free version on over 50 different laptops and desktops in my clients compters. Woried just fine for us.
I am running Norton Security Deluxe 2017 with Latest Malware bytes. Work great together. My Malware was just like Norton, both upgraded the older to the newer with no interaction from me.
I highly recommend this product.

Yes, I made a mistake. Because of a foul up I paid for my lifetime service twice. I have been promised, over and over, a refund of most of the amount. For some reason they are withholding $50. I am promised a call back in 5 minutes then hear nothing at all. I have been promised a refund "with in 5 to 7 workdays at least 5 times. Still nothing. Beware of Malwarebytes - they are dishonest. This program is fantastic but it is for MALWARE only and NOT intended to be an anti virus program. It is reliable, works in conjunction with my antivirus program, and has saved me from many potentially malicious "Malware" attempts. You would be shocked at how many there actually are. It also detects "Adware" that is suspicious, informs you, and quarantines it. You can review this "Adware" in the Malwarebytes program and either keep it or discard it.
This program is user friendly and was recommended by a friend who works for Dell. Lastly, if you want something that it blocks, you can add whatever you want to the allow list. Read about it at Cnet.com. If you want real time protection, you need the Pro version which costs about $25-$30. The free version simply lets you scan for malware after the fact.

I have been using the FREE version for a while, so I decided to buy it to support it. BIG MISTAKE! 1st, I didn't like the fact they signed me up for "AUTO-RENEW" without my consent. I hunted for more than an hour trying to find where to disable that. I complained, so they sent me a "Refund letter" and disabled my license. I still wanted it for the year, I just wanted the Auto Renew off and told them I felt that I didn't consent to that. 3. I have gotten over 20 emails over the 2 weeks. SPAM. These people are worse than the ones I used them to protect me against. 4. Even though they "Said" I was being refunded, and they disabled the license, I have not actually received the refund from 2Checkout. I had recommended Malwarebytes in the past, and still do bit I tell them DO NOT PAY FOR IT! Not unless you want to be spammed.

Corrupt signature, constant lies, insulting emails and falsely claimed that RegCure Pro is "MALWARE". All of this is documented in multiple emails from Malwarebytes Mr. William Rowland. He even insulted my mother who has nothing to do with this disgusting personal attack. I will supply copies of these emails to RegCure Pro to anyone who wants to see them in or out of court.

Last week I wrote a review about Malwarebytes. I wrote that I was not able to download the protection for VPN, so what occurred the next day the VPN protection was downloaded by the Malwarebytes administration. So this afternoon, (19 July, 2023, at 4.30 p.m.) it has been uninstalled, by whoever is hacking into my computer. Some protection! So whatever protection they are offering, is quite useless. And I was charged in excess of AU$80.00. You would think that the ACCC could monitor the tactics of these so-called anitvirus protection companies. I do not have a scanner on my computer, so I cannot provide proof of purchase, I paid online with my credit card, the receipt was sent to my email address, I do not have a printer on my computer.

I purchased the Malwarebytes Lifetime edition couple of years ago, Malwarbytes deactivated the license and when I started asking questions and emailing them they are denying the existence of the key and the purchase at once. Now that I cant even locate the receipt for the purchase they even deactivated the already "activated" malware bytes on my computer.

Scam... I had on my pc and laptop for about a week and program stopped working, I called support on the phone he wanted to look into pc so I let him, when done he said I had issues and he could fix it right now, for a redicules amount of money, I refused he kept trying to talk me into it I literally had to boot him off my pc and he kept trying to invite back in, now today I get a charge from PayPal where they charged me another yr. It will be the last time because I called PayPal and they will be refused next yr. Can not find anywhere to contact them and try to get my money back... can you say SCAMMERS?

Had Malwarebytes Premium for many years on their auto-renew payment plan, but the past few months they have not fixed an issue wherein their real-time protection mode will not stay turned-on, causing the program to miss malware & virus attacks on my Windows 7 based desktop. Their tech-support was useless, would take an entire day to respond, and their email "solutions" would typically arrive at 3AM Eastern Time with no phone support capabilities whatsoever! My only solution was to completely uninstall their program and purchase another product (Norton). I have requested a refund as I had almost a year remaining on my subscription, but they refused saying it is against their policy. My recommendation: STAY AWAY!

This used to be good software, but it is outdated, ando they are more concerned about waging war with PCMATIC than they are with protecting their customers. Thus program will now Uninstaller PCMatic. After this happened, I suffered no less than 10 ransomware attacks, and my system became slower and slower. I contacted them. They offered no assistance. It has now been removed and PCMATIC reinstalled. Fast system again, and no ransomware attacks. Avoid this company like the plague.

I love Malwarebytes and would recommend it to anyone, with one caveat. This otherwise fine software has a chronic HORRIBLE problem with a BROKEN NOTIFICATION mechanism that causes popups to appear constantly, even when your version of the app is completely up-to-date. If, as I do, you need to do screen capture videos, this will ruin you work. Contrary to assurances on the Malwarebytes website IT CANNOT BE CONFIGURED. A very sad defect in an otherwise nice product. Buyer beware.

Having just got a MacBook Pro I was keen to prevent any issues so I had two options in mind for Malware/Adware detection and prevention plus if the software provided further protection that's a bonus. The options were Malwarebytes (£29.99 for a licence) and Sophos for Mac home (free). I have used Sophos in the past so this was a strong contender. I had a question regarding Malwarebytes so enquired via their online service and I was told to use different contact information, fair enough but in the meantime I decided to try the Sophos product for now as a complete solution.

I downloaded the free version and immediately ran it. It identified several POPs and removed them. So far no problem. Today I got a message saying that my free version expired tomorrow, and I would need to purchase the upgrade. I was undecided but thought I'd run the scan again in case I didn't purchase the upgrade. Before I could even run the scan, the program gave me a message that I had a malware file in the PaintShop Pro program that I have been using for years. Malwarebytes did not even give me the choice of whether to remove the identified file; the file was simply deleted, and I had to reinstall PaintShop Pro to get it to run again. For a freeware program to cause a problem like this is no way to sell an upgrade!
