We have tried pretty much all of the meal kits out there, but Marley Spoon has the best recipes and the largest menu to choose from every week. The meals do require some cooking skills as the timing is sometimes off, so you have to play it by ear. There a lot of reviews about missing boxes, which has happened in the past for us too. They use UDS which sucks, but they have always reimbursed us for the missing boxes and the customer service was beyond helpful. There hasn't been a meal that we haven't loved, and we are pretty picky. Give it a chance!
Beware these guys are cunning and relentless! Firstly to see their menus you need to put your credit card in. I was shopping around for this type of service, and although I promptly exited the site after reviewing the recipes, it automatically signed me up to a reoccurring order. Now here is the catch…. Once you receive your first order, by the time this is delivered your second order is locked in! So if you receive it and decide to cancel you still have an other order on its way, even if you haven't selected the items it will have preselected it for you! 6 days before my second order (the first one went to the wrong address) I asked for a refund and they refused. It went towards my next order of items I had never selected. We went back and forth all week. I was so shocked by their inability to assist an unhappy customer, I eventually threatened to go to the media. They didn't back down instead sending me the fine print that I signed up for before I had even laid eyes on their product. This company should be ashamed at their lack of integrity and willingness to accept or admit that their service is borderline predatory and filled with trickery. Lastly, when you finally do go in to cancel your account it says that doing so will remove any existing discounts, therefore incurring additional costs on your already committed order. How rude!

Do not subscribe to this service! On multiple occasions we had issues with ingredients and/or delivery - damaged box, delivery over 24 hours late, spoiled ingredients which made the meal incomplete or unable to prepare. Customer Service is terrible.

Food arrived WARM, (ice packs completely melted and warm), making seafood, meats, dairy, and 1/2 the produce trash. Customer service was terrible! After providing photos, they finally promised a refund, but now they're refusing to credit my card for the $51.21 they owe. I've had good luck with 4 other companies I've tried. Marley Spoon sucks!

Some produce, dry goods and sauce. Everything else was ruined.
I decided to order because of Martha Stewart and I like her recipe also.
It seems obvious that money is being cut by using old produce. Most of the produce in the box I would not buy at a grocery store. Ever. It isn't ok to give refunds as an alternative to providing a fresh, quality product and experience. I decided to try because of "Martha Stewart" name, which I guess comes at such a high cost there isn't any left for the actual food. I know that she loves fresh organic foods but this company is not like her.
My first order- old vegetables like showing brown color.
Second order- smashed sour cream on the old vegetables.
Third order- it was ok
Forth order- old vegetables and bloody stain on the bottom of box.
Do you really want to try this?
Terrible. I expected excellent quality and service from a Martha Stewart endeavor. One package was missing the steak. All packages were late. Most were missing the recipe cards. The beef was cheap - poor flavor, not tender and difficult to chew. The meals were definitely not worth the money we paid.
Customer service is non-existent. We sent emails regarding the missing meat and got back form letter responses - "we're busy - we'll get back to you". They never did.

We did not have any problem getting our order. Our problem was that every thing we got was very bland. The pictures and descriptions did not match the foods taste. If you like food that has robust flavor then I recommend going elsewhere. These chefs know nothing about using spices.

Received only 2 shipments and both had issues. First one the box was opened and barely taped shut. The second shipment was missing the steak for a steak dish. You cannot get through to customer service because they are "all busy helping other customers"... all the time. They do not respond to chat box or email as you are directed to do by the outgoing message when you call in. The only time you get a response is when you unsubscribe. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because the one meal I was able to make was pretty good. Extremely disappointed with the lack of quality control and unavailable customer service. I excepted more from a product Martha Stewart puts her name on.

Meal that had all of the ingredients
When I complained that I received steaks that were inedible, so full of gristle that couldn't even cut with a knife, I got a hilarious response from customer service after asked for refund of that whole meal rather than just the $8 they said they would credit.
" Thanks for your reply.
I'm afraid we don't usually compensate for the expectation of the product. For this reason, we are not able to provide more compensation.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused."
Tip for consumers:
They apologized after I said to cancel account.
I recently spent a whole month trying different meal boxes, and Marley Spoon was SO BAD that I had to do my civil duty and attempt to warn anyone who will listen.
The box itself only shipped later in the week (first problem) making it difficult for people who meal plan like myself. Additionally, the photo cards (while pretty) gave the most vague and difficult to follow instructions. In my opinion, these cards should be fool proof and assume that the home chef knows nothing. These were just poorly written all together. Now onto the food - it was not good. Back to the cards, one of the recipes didn't clarify how much garlic was needed and sent a WHOLE HEAD when really only a clove or two was needed. The waste is a problem.
Overall, don't waste your time no matter the deal they offer. If you're curious, the two boxes we enjoyed most were Hellofresh and HomeChef (our personal fav)!
I have been a Sun Basket user for a year. I tired Marley Spoon because of the initial price. Let me sum this up: Bland boring fatty generic awful meals. Don't do it. You will be sorry. Try Another service instead.
Service gives no notice of reviewing the menus or when something is coming off pause & if you reach out, they're response is basically, "too bad, your fault", not even logging the issue as something to work on. Plenty other services provide notice, so I will continue to use those instead.

Set up your own reminders as it isn't built into the site like other similar services

Meal delivery service
Tried it for a month. Every box had damaged or rotten produce, missing ingredients, or meat that was not fresh. Required more ingredients of your own than other meal kits: vinegars, sugars, flour, eggs, ketchup. Even recipes that were titled "... with balsamic glaze" required you to provide the balsamic vinegar for that glaze. So disappointing. HelloFresh has less variety, but was definitely fresher and more reliable.
Horrible customer service. Difficult to get ahold of anyone to actually resolve problems and they make you jump through hoops to even have something addressed. The shipping is horrendous with boxes almost ALWAYS arriving late despite what the tracking says. And customer service is not helpful at all when resolving those problems, and all they tell you is as long as the meat is still "cool to the touch" you'll be okay. The items always arrive damaged, dirty or close to being spoiled. The meal ideas are very creative and great, don't get me wrong, but the hassle of everything else is making this not worth it. I originally switched over from HelloFresh because I was getting tired of the recipes, but their customer service is stupendous in comparison. I will be going back to HelloFresh.
I was referred by a friend and in the short time that I was a customer, they did not deliver my food three times. It's so frustrating when you have a guest coming for dinner and are planning to make the meal you ordered and it never arrives. After the first incident, I thought I'd give them another chance only to have it happen two more times. Three strikes... you're out! I also found the produce, especially the herbs, to be wilted and yellow. The customer service reps seem to care less. I was told that my box would arrive a day or two late. Based on the tracking, this means the food sat on a truck for 3-4 days in 90-degree heat. No thank you. Don't waste your time with this food delivery service.
Horrible, just horrible. First few boxes were fine but since then EVERY single box is missing something! Not a single box has all required ingredients. Some also arrive with damaged goods. Steer clear! Very expensive and prices increased a few weeks ago. How can a company who can't pack the orders with all necessary ingredients increase their prices?! I have used 4 other companies who only missed ingredients once or twice in a much longer time frame!
This is such as huge disappointment. The recipes were good -- and, although it is an expensive (yes -- more than the other boxes plus they charge for the stinking unreliable delivery service) box I wanted to keep it. BUT, damn, this is the second time the delivery has been over a day late and the food is not even cool to the touch. I cannot even think about eating it! Disgusting to say the least. In addition they have made some really crummy substitutions for the main ingredients. Martha has a recording when you call customer service -- she should take her name and her voice and run to the hills because this is not what anyone expects from her! They will be chanting "Lock her up!" soon if she doesn't get out of this horrible business.
I found the website to be very confusing and had difficulty selecting the dishes for the weeks delivery.
Their payments system swipes money from you bank account without notice.
The quality of the food delivered is below par, especially the vegetables which are not fresh when delivered and wont keep in a refrigerator for more than 1 -2 days

Attracted to the price but can see why it is so inexpensive. The food is incredibly blah, without any seasonings, not very creative recipes. This is just one step above eating take-out from McDonald's, which might be attractive to some people.
The proteins are horrible, the beef- swimming in stinky blood, so is the chicken and pork. The only good dishes we have had out of 12! Were three fish dinners. I got slimy green beans, half of the potato was black, when I cut it in chunks, missing ingredients. We ended up feeding every single piece of beef to our dog. I contacted the company by email and by leaving the reviews of the dishes. I never heard a word. When I finally called to cancel the subscription the woman told me they were too busy to answer. I guess everybody has been experiencing the same problems. I

This service is fine for people who love to cook. For us, we found it to be very stressful and time consuming. Then the food was terrible. Worse steak we have ever eaten. Then there is no way to cancel the next shipment because it is set up for delivery before you receive the first shipment. That is how they screw people over. Plus all the reviews above are staged by their people. So many that most of you will never get this far down the list. Allan

The worst delivery food service ever. My vegetables were always spoiled or I never received them. Delivery dates are never accurate. And the recipes call for things I don't normally have on hand like vinegar which is in every recipe. All the other boxes I tried includes a small sample of vinegar to use in these recipes. Don't waste your money!
If I could give negative stars I would. Ice packs do not cover the entire surface area of the box during shipment meat shows up without any contact with cold. "Thermal bag" is paper thin and ineffective. Even if you have leaking fluid inside the box they will not give you full credit (as I put the box in the trash). Would not offer refunds so had to get my credit card company involved.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t use this service. No returned calls. No refunds.

Fish, poultry, steak, ground beef all spoiled. Herbs all came black (5 week trial each week was bad). LONG shipping delays too. Produce that does not need refrigeration is small, wilted, wet and wrinkled.
Very tough meat, to tough to chew. Mashed potatoes tasted like sandpaper. It takes ~1 hour to make a meal that tastes bad, why would you buy that? One meal just came with an onion, why? No reason, it just went on the side like you were supposed to eat it. Carrots were able to bend before being cooked! I found 1 of my 4 deliveries to be "good". One of my deliveries arrived late. Overall, food is either terrible or mediocre, it takes to much time, and it has the tendency to arrive late.
I paused receiving this service for a while. Sometime during my pause, the ingredients that were provided in the kits were changed. You are now receiving less ingredients while still paying the same price for less provided ingredients. So disappointed! Now, I have to go to the local market and buy additional ingredients. My entire reason for choosing this service is to avoid shopping. For example: the kits previously included eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. Not now, to my surprise. Fortunately, I have had on hand what I needed for the recipes that I ordered.
I also ordered some MARKET items, don't expect the size of the items to be what you might purchase at the market. I purchased the flour tortillas, received 5" not the usual 8" size you buy at the grocery store.
Needless to say, very disappointed.
This service is no longer a value to me.
Tip for consumers:
Check the ingredients list to make sure you know what you need for the recipe. Don't expect the usual size you might be purchasing at the market.
