I rarely use Monster.com because it's just not user friendly for job seekers. If I search by Remote, it doesn't only show remote jobs, you have to manually enter their filters and select "Remote Jobs Only" to remove all the in office/hybrid options. Why it doesn't automatically select that when we search for Remote makes no sense to me. Even after selecting "Remote Jobs Only" I'm still seeing in office roles. I would rather have no results than a ton of results that don't match what I'm looking for. Simply put, it's a waste of my time.
There is also no way to report jobs that aren't truthful. Many say they are remote but then in the job description it says they are hybrid. There is no way for me to report this - a clear sign Monster only cares about the companies paying them and not the job seekers using their platform. Several have had differing titles, making it impossible to really tell what the job entails but again, there is no way to report these to be reviewed.
Run away - do not use Monster.com if you can avoid it.
I was contacted repeatedly by "Alex" (real name Karan Kishore) who put on an excellent sales pitch. He was friendly, convincing and knowledgeable. After expressing my concern about reading the negative reviews, he had his supervisor (Vignesh Kumar) call me, who was equally articulate, positive and convincing. I decided to spend the $650 for the career services while Alex continued to say "95% of my clients land an excellent job within 3 months, all within 6 months"... After they got my money Alex did nothing - and when I emailed, all he said was "my apologies, I will get the team on it"... I escalated it to Vignesh Kumar, who was nowhere to be found.
All the signs of a scam - but I fell for it anyway. Please dont also fall for it!
I wish it was as easy to close an account as it is to open. All of these online job search sites only do one thing well... bill your credit card. I what to go back to the classified ads in the newspapers.
I deleted my resume before I closed my account with monster.com. 2-3 months down the road I started getting emails, text and calls from agencies for job opportunity. When I asked how they get into my resume the person replied its from a job portal career builder or monster. I do not have account with CB.
First off, WAY too many ads. No matter how many times I update my profile, it won't update. Tired of doing it every time I log into the site. And don't sign up to get jobs emailed to you, because if you pick 'Forklift Operator' like me, you'll get jobs including custodian, financial manager, etc., etc. My email was FLOODED with useless jobs I wasn't interested in. I also chose relevance by date and distance, and still got jobs 40 and 50 miles away, posted weeks and months ago, when I chose within 10 miles and jobs posted most recently. I give up on this useless site.
This site does not have relevant resumes for your needs. Database has most of the fake ones and keywords has its limits and it doesn't give you the option to choose people based on their years of experience nor their work authorization. Worst part of it all is that it auto logs you off from the search, the moment you take a break or the moment you look at another source for a few minutes and you need to log in again and enter the details to find the right candidate. It has limited reach to candidates all over where ever available. Thus, as a Recruiter and as a Current regretful user, I wouldn't advise anyone to use this platform if you ever think this will aid you in your search for finding the right talent.
Monster.com is a fraud job placement agency. People beware, do not sign up for their services. They sweet talk you into getting you to sign up and then it is a different story. They do not assist with getting you even a single job interview though they promised at the time of sign up...
This is the worst agency and I regret signing up for their services!
Beware, Beware, Beware. Don't waste your money on this fraud company!
Monster.com is the worst recruitment tool that you could ever possibly want to have. The only applications that i have received for the multitude of jobs posted are random applications from India when the job is in the UK.
They dont have an up to date searching database - they dont advertise thier company and so there is no up to date traffic that they attract. They will blind you with promises of extra things to attract candidates that possibly would work but they dont have the traffic and so its a non starter no matter what they offer.
They will tie you into a contract that you cant get out of and will provide nothing of use.
In a nutshell, they are bloody awful... STAY AWAY
We were hiring new employees and signed up for a free trial through monster.com. We only had one applicant in that free trial time frame, so we decided to sign up for a full actual month. It was literally hundreds of dollars to get 4 applications- 2 which were not even local and wouldn't be able to work anyway. We were hopeful that spending so much for quality applicants we would at least have one we would hire.
Didn't provide service until the very last second.
Kept upselling me when I was waiting.
Eventually, just throw me a gibberish random template.
I had to pay a freelancer on another website which made a WAY BETTER resume than monster's crap.
