It's not just useless, it's dangerous - I've deleted my account but I'm still nervous that my personal details could be exposed on a database somewhere, people capable of producing something so bad are unlikely to have good security in place.
I've been submitting tax returns for 47 years. Paying state governments and councils as well as utilities. Living at the same address for 8 years. Have bank accounts in my name. Yet the ATO want me to prove who I am. Spend my time to get a director ID. I have a MyGov account. I have a tax file number. Why not just use that info. No the IT people want to create more work for themselves.
OK I'll play their silly game. First attempt at proving who I am. I use my drivers licence. Scan the card it didn't recognise me. I deleted the app and tried again. Inserting the details this time. Again it didn't recognise me.
Instructions were to go to help screens which again are useless.
Set up an account to access my group certificate. MyGov would not accept my Notice of Assessment details from previous year as part of the endless questions to identify myself. Locked me out of my account. What a joke.
Who in their right mind can actually think this crap is suitable, if you didn't know you have to remove a device before getting another phone you have to create a whole new account and go thru the excruciating link process, if you get a question wrong it deletes everything you have entered, Why the *******@ck is there no recovery process for the account, imagine an elderly person who is not technology savvy navigating this garbage, if you want a royal *******@cking commision this piece of sh@t is it!
Trying to use the my Gov App to apply for the Job Seeker payment.
What a waste of time. Typical of Government IT and how we all have to do everything online with the Government and their systems don't work. Total rubbish.
What an abomination mygov is. Impossible to navigate. Hours spent waiting to talk to ATO support. No verification code emails received to access the ATO business platform. Unable to lodge applications or BAS returns etc on line.
The App should be taken down and the designers sacked
Comes up with inability to verify identifications, one of the basic steps towards setting up mygovID. Before the app is released, it should have been validated for functionality - it appears this has not been done.
I've been TRYING to set up my accounts on myGovID (the iOS app) as well as the MyGov.com… for 2 hours now and still don't have it logged in. My Medicare owes my parents account money and they can't pay unless I've completed all the required steps. This stuff has been far to complicated to the point it's not even worth the hassle in my case.
I've reentered the same Medicare detail 4 time now and the website just says to redo it over and over.

Major issues just logging on denies my correct password then have to change it everytime i try to log in, and then tells me im logged in on another device and have to go into settings to delete the device.To many people have told me about their own issues and now we have to use it to do our tax online its worse
MyGOV has to be the most mismanaged and most stupid project the government has introduced within the last few years.
In 2023, it got so bad that they have to refresh their servers at 4am daily.
It locks users, it cannot reset passwords and customer service is poor and slow.
By my experience having to call them for a simple sign on about 5 times! I can see the system must have been a target from hacking as they cannot keep up with so many blunders and as advised by on of the customer services staff, they have to flush the system at 4am daily for security purposes. The most useless system that was forced to the public to use recently. Absolutely useless!
The website is unbelievably bad - it will lead you in a circle - navigating to where you think you need to go and then take you back to the start without making any progress. Unquestionably the worst website on the internet. It is baffling how such a shockingly incompetent website can be created when people at home can create better websites using an app. It does not work and you can not get through on the phone and are forced to go to an office where they will direct you back to the website. Scandal.
Im an in desperate need to get into it but cant. Makes me go through a security protocal and then i need my mobile number which doesnt even get the code that mygov apparently sends. Load of $#*!ing $#*! $#*! you $#*!s
Repeated failures trying to get to (ATO in my case) site. WORSE than phoning and waiting on hold. Which is never that long, strangely. How hard can it be? There'll be a contracted IT provider paid squllions to have created this rubbish. Come the revolution...
When you change phones, as almost every Australian does every two years, you have to spend up to an hour on the phone, AND create a new account, because the security doesn't recognize your device. They tell you online that you have to login to your account and change your device. But you can't because you can't get the login code on your new device. Millions of Australians who belong to mygov have to go through this painful process every time they buy a new phone. Completely unnecessary.
Unable to link any accounts due to frequent changes of address, even calling them direct they are unable to link my services together. Should not be my responsibility to individually link all my services together. Do they not have records of this? Website design is also difficult for me to use, a tech savvy individual, I have no idea how an older person would be able to navigate a website such as this.
While it was made to sound easy, it's not. The validation process is complex if you don't carry the documents they ask for, which most probably don't unless they are super organised freaks. I tried to do it, got my wife to help, the. We both gave up because I didn't have enough info to validate. I'm very diligent regarding COVID but this app is $#*!. It will deter a lot of people which is counterproductive to traceability. Disgraceful attempt from the govt.
Utterly broken and unoptimized. Cannot complete any forms due to the website breaking and either not registering data or outright logging me out. Online options are supposed to be convenient, which is ironic that it's much less hassle to go into Centrelink in person to sort it out

Don't bother. Just go to Centrelink instead
Impossible to use. Forced to use it for tax return, yet will no accept my credentials, thus i need to get on a phone for 2 HOURS to get a code to access only the account which is BROKEN, drop down boxes dont have a scroll function,. Meaning you better hope what you need is on the page already. Mines not. How does this site exist?! I could get some kids at my uni to create a more usable site in MINUTES..
There is no good points to this site. It is a marathon to even login. It is impossible to guess the mind state of the person who designed it. Either on acid or schizophrenic and suffering multiple personalities disorder because there is no common sense involved in this site. I have gone through a who block of chocolatey stress removal and still havent updates my medicare details yet. A stupid site.
I like to think of myself as website savy but this government website is by far the worst website I have ever come across. Locks you out new passcodes Every time. Im never going to use it again. Not worth my time. Poor pensioners would have no idea.
This app is useless keeps locking you out, can't link my Ato to my gov, changes codes every couple of seconds, by the time you put the dam code in it expires, and then your used your chances, and then it locks you out, and to top that it tells you to clean your cache our, update your browser this is utter bull$#*! its a useless not friendly app I'm over it, then they want your bank details don't give them, also there's a scam that is actually a my gov so be careful, don't give your tax file number, or bank details, just make sure this site is legitimate, this app needs to be looked at useless piece of crap
This would be the worst app design ive ever encountered after many attempts to register only to be told that my identity cant be validated but other apps i've tried regarding my identity work first time, every time.
My business authorization was inactivated by the government somehow. I cannot reset the ID because my valid Australian passport and valid Medicare card both could not be verified! I cannot access ABR either because it need a MygovID now. It all goes in circle! Every time an ID was rejected, the screen was stuck there. Have to delete & download the app. And etc. all again. I spent 10 days trying to find a fix with no success!

Forced to use myGovID to claim apprentice subsidies. Spent three days and hours on hold to finally be told I don't have an Australian passport so nothing they can do to get it to work. Now I just have to wait with the hope they fix it. How can they make such a rubbish app and have no solutions.
I was trying to log in to My Gov. The Code Generator app was not successful and I could not get an SMS code as I recently got a new phone number. Called up, got through within a few minutes, started talking and then it went mute. A few seconds later, it cut out. Called again straight away to hear that there's a queue longer than 30 mins. Eventually got through after waiting a while. The lady I spoke to was lovely, but at one point forgot why I was calling, and went through the process of adding my new number to my account before sharing another customer service number for me to call. She couldn't really explain why, and when asked if what she had done will solve my problem (as I'd assumed it would), she hesitantly said yes my problem should be fixed. I was told to wait 2 hours before trying to log in as the new number takes time to updaye. It's been 6 hours and still unsuccessful. Such a disappointing and frustrating service; how it still exists is beyond me.
Other people aswel as myself have found that even after creating a mygov account and having the new password new & fresh in your mind, try to log in with our password...
It will NOT let us log in, no matter how many time you check, and knowing 100% that the password entered is correct, for some stupid reason mygov returns with the wrong password error. Then only giving you 3 tries, mygov then gives you the error message saying that your mygov account is now locked, you need to create another account, What an inconvience!
This seems to happen to everyone I know thats tried to log in to mygov, it gives me the impression that its done on purpose, and I have always known from a previous Centrelink worker that everything is set up in a way to put people off applying for centrelink payments.
