“Worthwhile”

Agens S.
11/22/19

While the information is not always accurate, this site is critical for those of you who are on dating sites. You can corroborate much information to determine their truthfulness. You can get their most recent address in 95 percent of the cases and other cities and states in which they have lived. You can, more importantly, find out if they have any criminal offenses. I was about to meet a guy who had several... one for theft over $1000. Needless to say, I stopped communicating with him. I also found MYSELF... and the bankruptcy I filed decades ago. That didn't please me but it is what it is. The guy I'm dating now has NO criminal records, NO liens, No nothing. I feel safe. This site to me was worth the money I paid for 6 months.

They used to be very responsive about removing your info if you called them and requested to be opted out. Recently, they've started posting people's info on other people's profiles who have the same last name. When you call to try to get your info off someone else's page, they tell you they're having difficulties removing it and it will take a while (and refuse to tell you how long). So far, it's been 3 weeks and the info has not been removed, despite there being a documented safety issue involved. If you have had a similar experience (or other opt out problems with this website), please let the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse know so that they can approach the FTC about this issue: https://www.privacyrights.org/complaint (I am not affiliated with them but know they're trying to do something about this.)

I honestly was about to order services but decided to test it by looking up a family member very close to me. The information is sooooo way off. He has literally NEVER been arrested. He has had parking tickets but the way they present the info is so misleading and they have people as his family members that we have NEVER heard of... meanwhile they don't mention any of his actual family at all. So glad I checked first and this will be going in all my reviews. They should really check their information. They could be open to a lawsuit and ruin a good man or woman's name.

Tip for consumers:
Try looking up someone before purchasing and make sure ALL info is correct.

I purchased 1 single report...on myself to see how accurate it was. For the $9.95 fee they didn't show me anything but my name and age. It kept popping up a window trying to scam me out of $159.99, the info it did show was SUPER dated and terribly inaccurate. Seriously, this site should be shut down for scamming people.

Do not ever go on this site! I was a member for 2 days and discontinued it. I got a message from my bank that Mylife hit me up for $84.40 my bank blocked the transaction and sent me a text. So I loose my bank card because it was corrupted and have to wait 2 weeks to get another. I called this scum site and told them what happen and they did not seem surprised about this at all! Hopefully authorities will shut down this site and throw these scumbags in prison.

They exploit false information with bogus reputation scores. I requested my profile to be removed sev months ago and it was, however was replaced again with my personal information with someone else's picture and derogatory info which is false.
I was on hold for over 45 min, when it was my turn the line disconnected. I've made 2 attempts to email with the same response "will respond within 72 hrs"... 3 wks later and still waiting. How are they in business? Unbelievable!

Originally I just assumed that I needed to provide more information about myself to improve the dismal score this site gave me but boy was I wrong. Despite have over 100 positive reviews online on multiple sites I'm still a scumbag on Mylife.com. I own multiple business with great reviews, have an exceptional FICO score, clean history but according to Mylife you should cross the street if you see me walking towards you. Completely bogus website, useless and you cannot trust anything on this site. My guess is the real bad guys score high on this site.

I signed up in order to perform ONE back ground check and unsubscribed same day. I have been charged each month since. I have the unsubscribe email. I called their toll free number and was on hold for 30 minutes, only to be conveniently disconnected as it became my turn to speak to someone. I had to call my own bank to stop these scum from stealing more.

I created an account online, I (stupidly) gave my credit card information for the $1 one-week trial. Nearly all the information on the site was wrong, especially my "associates and family members", most of whom I'd never head of. So I went through the motions of cancelling the account online. One week later, they charged me $50.85 to renew my membership. Apparently there's fine print somewhere on the site saying you have to call to cancel. They don't even send you an email until they've charged you the 50 bucks, in hopes you'll forget about the $1 "trial". So they let you think you've cancelled your account and don't actually tell you to call to cancel until after they've charged you.

I signed up for there $1 week trial and all the information they had on me was totally wrong. Plus they say unlimited background searches which is a lie! I called them to complain and was told that the site would take a few days to gather all the information on you. When I checked back they still had nothing. So I called and asked for cancellation and a refund. Which they issued and the two days later they charged me for full membership. So when I called to let them know about it and told them that I was recording the call for my records the lady I was talking to flipped out and said that I'm not allowed to record the call and hung up with on me and that's happened every time since then. Very shady company don't give out any personal information.

First they charged me twice for $94.50 for an annual membership and I had to be the one to figure that out and ask for a reimbursement. Second, the $94.50 only includes a background report for 12 people total over the course of a year. After 12 people, you are back to what a non paying person can see. Furthermore, the 12 people included accidental duplicates of the same person. So if you pull the background report on someone just to get a quick view, then pull it up again on another device to look more in depth or print, that counts as 2 people.

I googled myself only to find that this website provides my age, religion work history for free on the Internet. This is illegal as it is providing information that 1. Is false 2. Is contributing to discrimination. They say they can block this information but they are the ones providing it.
How can we shut them down?
I have been waiting for 15 minutes to speak to someone only to be disconnected not once but twice.

I did this for 7 days for a $1 and they charged my credit card 45.00 after 5 days. My bank said to order another debit card screwed me all up! They claimed it was 7 days. BS and hope no else does this. They never removed inaccurate information. I had 11 pending requests. What a joke. Life lock is suppose to be the legit one. Then they make your register to get more of your infor just to write this review.

Their behaviors are wicked, illegal. They first collect your information and make it public without your knowledge and permission. And when you realize you're exposed to the whole world, and want to make the created profile private, they start charging you. Who give them the right to collect and public our personal information? Isn't this illegal in the US, a so-called civilized country that emphasize personal privacy? Anyone wants to start suing this immoral, i'll be for sure join!

I have contacted MyLife to remove my information. They won't remove it even after repeatedly asking them to remove my personal information including DOB, Income and just about everything.

Please let the rest us know if you are planning on filing a suit.

Never signed up for it, but the funny thing is they act like they will protect your privacy, but then reveal your location to anyone doing a web search. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell people's information.

So, I pay for a one month subscription, but can't run anything but basic background checks, can't edit my listed phone numbers, email addresses, etc. Call support and am told I only paid for the ability to edit my own background report when the site offers the ability to do a background check on anyone. I can't change or remove incorrect email addresses or hone numbers and when I try a removal from another site, I get a database error. Support is apparently offshore and very courteous, but essentially unhelpful. Then I'm told I get one (1) premium background check per month and I already used that on my own profile. Arrgh! On top of this I am told any changes I request, like a removal, will take 4-6 weeks. That's how they sucker you into paying for an additional month. WASTE of MONEY!

You put callers on hold for 30+ minutes and then hang up? You never respond to email requests either? WTF. There really must be a good reason why you make it so impossible to keep private information private.

Terrible service sends you all this info about someone searching for you but won't let you sign up for anything less than a 3 months. Then when you do sign up you can't see what you are looking for and you have to get another subscription. This site will cost you a fortune. If you sign up on line you have to call in to cancel. Then you get put on forever hold and they won't cancel your account. Only the automatic renewal. I should have searched first but I thought I had remembered doing this in the past. So either they are no longer reputable or I don't remember them being such a dishonest website. Stay away!

I signed up for a single report on someone associated with me and suddenly they are using my credit card info to automatically 'renew' my subscription. As opposed to other online services such as this, there is NO place on the web page to unsubscribe. I had to call them to accomplish the cancellation - I hope. I received an email saying my auto renew was disabled, so now I wait. If they charge me next week I'll have to block them with my credit card company. As to the info, it was a total hodge-podge. Some correct, but mostly trying to get you to pay more for a premium 'service. Don't go there!

Like most of the so call background check there are errors. So many in fact this site is worthless and for the fees charged a scam. I did a check on my oldest son for example and it has his and martial status totally wrong. My report was not any better except my race was correct, however most of the rest the data was wrong, wrong, wrong. Save your money for better things than this site.

This is not a reputable company, as I signed up for the "Trial" which was suppose to end in 7 days for $1.00, I cancelled my subscription the same day/same session in which I opened it. It asked me to verify that I wanted ONLY the 7 day trial and if I still wanted to cancel my membership, in which I answered yes only wanted the trial for $1.00. Today, a month later... I look at my bank account to see a charge for $14.95 from this website, so I call them. I explained I only signed up for the trial for $1.00, but OF COURSE they were not willing to refund my $14.95 charge. This right here tells me they are a scam, as MOST online services I've ever dealt with that were legitimate always has apologized and refunded the unauthorized payment and removed my subscription. DO NOT sign up for this site, as it gives you the option to cancel same day but apparently it doesn't cancel it. Thankfully I noticed the charge the first time it was taken out of my account so no more should be taken out.

I have personally never seen a website anywhere get this much overwhelmingly negative feedback. 166 out of the 173 reviews here are 1 star reviews, and the higher ratings seemingly being mistakes, plus another website where they have nothing but (150) 1 star reviews.

That is because the website is a scam that can destroy the lives of people who aren't even paying. They add false information about people and try to get them to pay money to see it. Of course, they charge you much more and just about all the information is fake so why bother?

The information that MyLife had on me was false and damaging. I tried to contact the company to obtain the source of the information and make corrections, but this was not possible. I asked that they remove my profile but they did not do so until I file a grievance through the Better Business Bureau. The site is little more than a grift to get someone to pay an exorbitant fee for inaccurate information. If you want information on a person, the Internet is full of reliable sources. Avoid MyLife and check your own profile for accuracy.
