“Worst of the worst, trash and biggest scammers”

I just won't recommend them to no one! My monthly payment is $28 but I get charge $40 for late payment. When you are ready to make a payment they are unreachable. And they also keep blowing your phone... it actually a true nightmare with the credit care synchrony bank.

“Buyer Beware!”

Jason C.

This lender has lowered my credit on two occasions. I had finally gotten my credit up to good standing after going through a divorce where my ex-wife ruined my credit. I got remarried and lost some weight and went into a Belk's to get some celebratory new clothes. They asked us if we would like a card to establish better credit and we agreed. Initially, they gave me a credit line of $800.00. We spent $300 that day and got some new clothes. When I got home, I set up the account and automatic payment. For a few months, I made payments on the account and brought the balance back down to $550. Then I got a letter from Synchrony Bank stating they lowered my credit line to $550. Then, because of what they did to me, my credit dropped 40 points into needs work. I had never missed a payment, on this card or any of my credit accounts. I called Synchrony Bank and they did nothing. I also called the credit reporting agencies and though the agent was validating, they could do nothing. It took several months to get some of my credit points back. Then, this morning, they lowered my line again to just over the balance I had paid down, to $466.00. I am going to pay off this card and never use it again or shop at Belk's ever. Do not apply for a Belk card because Synchrony Bank is a predatory bank that messes with people's lives through credit. Buyer beware.

Customer reps hangs up if they don't know how to help. Online system won't let you log in. Can't get help on customer service without know EVERYTHING you need that's in the portal but you can't log in. One big circus dealing with these people.

This is the worst bank that anyone can deal with, they give u a credit limit on 4 different credit card and if your score drop by 3 to.5 points they don't tell you they drop your limit down from 4000 to 250 and 100 dollars and wait until 30 to mail you a letter so whoever read this I suggest please don't use this bank for anything find a different bank and plus since they drop.your credit limit your score will.drop from 650 to 550 behind this bank

They really could care less! They must get enough money just long enough to screw you over. I have never seen such a confusing inhospitable site. They prey on those who cannot figure out what they want. Won't even give suggestions. DO NOT USE!

This company is absolutely horrible with communication. After the amount of money I have spent with this card, they cancelled my card for non use without notice, devastating my credit score. There are too many other options, advise you to get a different financing company

Their website is abhorrent, engineered to be as frustrating and difficult to navigate as possible. It logs you out repeatedly and constantly has technical issues. They hide information about pending interest charges from clear view, duping you into paying more money over time. Horrific customer service. Just downright awful.

So their auto-withdrawal function doesn't work, and their intake staff on the phones or chat aren't trained or have interface to address it (so their machines won't take your monthly payment and it'll also be held against you). In the year 2023 I had to make manual monthly payments to avoid the drama. If you need the credit take it, but if you have the time/space to look for other credit lines (look for them; there are better organized banks).

I have a good job, I pay all my bills. I actually worked on my credit score and brought it all the way up. Any type of place that has a credit card is owned by synchrony bank. I filled out applications for two separate places. Both denied due to. To many inquiries, no retail credit, how the $#*! am I supposed to get retail credit if every $#*!ing place is under this $#*!ed up $#*! bank, then it was also not enough time in between your last delinquent payment. But everything on my credit report has been paid off! You know why there are inquiries because I actually fill out applications. But if they are attached to this bank you won't get $#*! it's actually sad! I'm wondering if I can go to the Better Business Bureau. It's been about 2 years before this incident. Before I was denied because of my credit score. Now that I've brought it up, they have new ways of not issuing credit. $#*! synchrony bank!

Unfortunately, many companies have specialized credit cards through synchrony bank and I've had probably close to a dozen over the last 25 or so years, most recently through Discount Tire. My purchase was supposed to be 9 months no interest, according to their promotion however, all I got was a 25 day grace period. I have never had a positive experience with this bank, not ever. When will I learn?

Many, many times I cannot log in to the Synchrony site to pay a credit card bill. No matter if it's the same one I've been using for years, I keep getting "Access Denied" message. They seem to have taken over so many of them and that makes the situation even worse.

I'm disappointed in synchrony bank! Absolutely NO ethics or integrity. I've received $120.00 in late fees for paying a day late. Most banks give you a couple days grace period. They even told me (afterwards) if I pay a minute late or a $1 late, I'll receive that fee, Really. God in heaven please help me pay this card off & never again. Thanks synchrony, I was wondering why my credit score was lower. NO Morals!

I've had several Synchrony accounts. I am about to close my remaining. Cards with zero balance or perfect payment records will be closed just because Synchrony suddenly deems you at risk. I have a flawless credit history and never so much as a missed payment. But, now my score has dropped because for the second time in a year they have decided to close out my accounts in good standing by lowering my available credit. Good riddance.

Do not ever even get a loan with this company let alone a credit card. We called to get a payoff on our loan and they quoted a payoff. No explaining anything, mind you I had just made a payment. Calling in again today ask why the title had not been mailed yet and are told we owe more than payoff that was sent. That being said on this same call I was given THREE completely different payoff amounts even in one call. Then get to a manager named Savannah and get hung up on. The complete worst company and customer service ever including a manager. Then being told it would take another 3 to 5 days to for a call review for previous calls.

I got a Sam's credit card recently. Traveled to relatives on Thanksgiving. Tried to make a purchase on Amazon. Because I was out of town, Amazon deemed the purchase suspicious, so Synchrony automatically cancelled the card without contacting me. That was Nov 21st. Synchrony did not even mail the replacement card until Dec 5th, 14 days after they unnecessarily cancelled the original. I will still use the replacement card, depending on which year it finally arrives. But I do not trust their system. I will only use the card at my local Sam's Club, nowhere else. Synchrony credit cards cannot be trusted. Their system is fully computer controlled and they will cancel your card with no warning because you made the mistake of using their card on a trip to another city.

Products used:
None. Synchrony cancelled my card because I tried to use it while travelling in another town. It wasn't about a product, it wasn't about credit. Their card is worthless. If I use it at an airport in Texas, fly to CA and use it at an airport in L.A. 4 hours later, some Synchrony clerk is going to go: "Duh? How'd he get to CA so fast? Cancel his card!" The card is worthless as a credit card.

They reduce your credit limit for bogus reasons so your credit takes a nice hit if you have any kind of balance. They reduced mine to 12.00 over the amount I owed (which was only about 15% of my available credit) so now I'm showing almost 100% usage lovely. Not the first time they've done this but that card had a zero balance at the time. Stay far far away if you value your credit.

This company is incompetent in handling calls. They will get your information and you give your whole spill and ask you to hold on then hang up on you.
Never believe what they say. I make all my payments on time and they tried to stick me with a late fee of 28.00 glad the dispute worked
BEWARE of your sales person and check with BBB first before getting credit from the company.

I have read many of the bad reviews and have concluded that consumers are not reading nor understanding the terms of the contract before making a purchase. I have never had a problem with any card financed by Synchrony Bank. I have had no problems disputing purchases for a valid reason. Customer service reps are professional. The secret to using cards backed by Synchrony is simple. Pay your bill on tome or early. Make the payments for more than the minimum requested. Do not purchase anything that you can't pay off in less than 6 months. Remember your income to best ratio. If you are paying out more than 2/3 of your pay or earnings to bills already… whatever you want to buy with a credit card…DON'T! You too can have the same great experience with this bank as I have

They will destroy your credit by continuously lowering your account balances.
I have never been late with my payments or gone over my credit limit and only requested cards with their associated companies to build my credit. However, as a result I have had my credit score lowered time and time again due to the lowering of account balances by Synchrony.
Their actions are based on activities that don't necessarily affect them.
By lowering credit limits closer to your current balance suggest a higher usage of your account balance.
Do not be fooled by this company! They are wolves in sheepish clothing!

NEVER use Synchrony for CDs:
- I informed them over the phone and in writing on 05/01/2023 that I wanted to cash in my CD that matured on 04/28/2023.
- I uploaded their form on 05/01/2023.
- I made an error by not selecting state tax be withheld.
- They did not inform me of this until 15 days after they received my distribution request, as I did not receive their 05/10/2023 letter until 05/16/2023.
- I corrected this less than 48 hours later.
- They never communicate in a timely manner or call back when they say they will.
- Their staff made multiple errors in closing out this CD and transferring the funds.
- They informed me by letter dated 05/12/2023 they auto-renewed the CD.
- On 05/26/2023 they transferred the funds, less a $62.95 penalty for "early withdrawal," from the CD I made perfectly clear to them i did not want renewed.
- Escalations Dept. Supervisor Kim refused to speak to me on phone. She stated, per CSR Theresa, I am completely at fault for delaying the transfer of funds so they decided to renew the CD.
- Supposedly another Escalations employee (who is a subordinate of Kim?) will take a look. CSR Theresa on 02/20/2024 said they "should" send me a letter when I asked if I was supposed to keep calling them back to check status.
- I told her I'll just start filing complaints with BBB, CFBD, FDIC, etc., which I have. She just laughed...

This "bank" issues cards and credit lines under many names, including Walmart and CareCredit. They charge exorbitant interest rates and then damage your credit rating if you choose to do business with them by constantly checking your credit rating, and lowering or closing your credit line. Better off doing business with loan sharks, at least you know the terms up front.

Synchrony Bank ran my credit without notifying me and reduced half of the approved credit claiming that they were doing it on a regular basis and that it was in the regularity part. I spent all night looking for it and never found where it was written. In addition to that, they added more interest than allowed. I hope JC Penney reacts because they could lose a lot of customers to imposter banks like Synchrony Bank.

I am one to check my bank activity and keep up with payments. I never realized they charged a $30 late fee if you are even one day late. I've never been more than a day or two late, but then they don't tell you they put a late fee on your account when it shows your next minimum payment, so then I would pay my minimum like usual thinking everything was normal, but then I checked and they were charging me interest on the late fees. None of my other credit cards charge a late fee for a couple days. This company just seems to want your money anyway they can get it. I know I should of caught it sooner but I couldn't even see my history of payments or charge history for the months before July. I can do auto pay but sometimes we have to wait for the pay check that's coming in a day or so after the payment. I have definitely had better experiences with other credit card companies. At least give some grace period, you don't know what's going on in your customers lives.
