I tried to get a review of my site after acquiring the domain. I had people posting false information that had nothing to to with my company whatsoever. Everyone on the site pretended to be some type of expert but they clearly were not intelligent or tech savvy. There is no moderation whatsoever so anyone can literally post anything without any repercussions. There is definitely a herd mentality in action. I would stay away from this site at all costs. If you're a business just ignore them. Nobody takes anything on there serious.

A total lack of credibility. I suspect they manipulate the algorithm by themselves or in any case, as anybody, are pretty exposed to botnets manipulation and they like to ignore it

Mywot is pure scam. If youre website is rated bad you have to deal on their forum with "professional" unemployed loosers wich never had any success in their live. But there they are able to judge about successful siteowners who try to make a living with hard work. Btw. Here you can rate Mywot back: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/wot-safe-browsing-tool/

There was nothing bad they could really say about my site, so I imagine they are disappointed. What gave me my lesson was when I asked a SIMPLE QUESTION of their "friendly community." LOL

My 'scorecard' (what a joke) was empty. I asked, "I've read the documentation, and submitted the site for evaluation, and know not to request scorecard reviews, so what DO I do to increase my 'reputation?' " Here was the response.

"Submit your site for evaluation." Rather than say "can you read" I asked if that meant to submit a second time, because this person clearly didn't know how to read. Her response?

"Just once. RTFM."

NICE! And maybe you can learn to RTAFQ (read the actual F*****g question?) I didn't reply, I was done at that point, closed my account, don't care.

WOT and their crowd of elitist big mouths are irrelevant. Seriously. No one uses their software for very long, and no one cares about their opinion-based whining. The only reason I went there was a small minor search engine linking to my site made a mention of them. I figured, "why not." Stupid choice.

Think about the bullies that used to beat up the weak in high school and the cheerleaders that grew into miserable human beings, have five kids and hate their lives so badly they can't suffer anyone else to succeed. They all wound up working for WOT.

I don't care too much for this sites system at all! I purchased a domain just to find out later the WOT had already had reviews on it before I ever purchased the site. The reviews were negative so of course my site has started out with the warning category. I contacted them and explained to them that I had just purchased it is there anyway they could adjust the reviews from the date I purchased the site and they told me no because there was no way to verify when I purchased it and that if I wanted a positive review I would have to get people to register with them and let them add positive reviews. I contacted them again and told them I can send all the documents in to them about it such as when I registered the business with the city and state and also the documents for the date the domain was purchased by me but this time they were rude about it and told me I already told you once if you want your review to become positive send people here to register and have them review you. So since then I have just let it go and I really could care less what it says because with that type of message who is to say a really great site with tons of positive reviews doesn't sell their domain and a real scam site move in there and everyone trusts that the site is great off of the reviews WOT has listed!?!?!? I mean really it works both ways! So I don't recommend them to anyone!

The Web of Trust does not seem to protect people from dangerous sites but rather seems to have a forum with a few anonymous trolls who want to censor the web to say the things they want the web to say. In my opinion the internet already does this work really well. Online scams, untrustworthy links, and unreliable web stores are already outed in forums and with word of month in other communities across the web.

WOT in comparison looks to others like censorship on the web. One small group of peoples' opinion over the majority.

My site was labeled as one that scams people out of money. I'm one of the most successful online instructors on Udemy the market leading online learning site. I have 65,000 students who have taken my course would disagree and they have voluntarily posted over 700 positive reviews. This is the community's opinion.

We don't need a self-appointed internet police who claim to represent a community but actually act only upon their own narrow prejudices and flawed, misinformed opinions. The internet is already "self policed" by Google PageRank, Alexa rank, domain authority, etc., these are real matrices based on fact. Not misrepresentations of one or two individuals.

After reading about the others who have had similar experiences with mywot I would say I am no different. Same abuse and damage to my small business reputation which is clearly unfair and undeserved. I joined their forum last week and after trying to find a way to correct the problem, I experienced a whole new level of bad support from their staff (or moderators). Very soon it became clear this was not a problem with my site but a problem with mywot itself. It's an intentional ploy by mywot and they are doing this on a mass scale.

I've joined a group and our purpose is to share our findings with each other and amplify our message. Mywot refused to hear our polite requests, so now we will shout on the web. Starting with ripoffreport, google and other sites like http://mywot-scam.tumblr.com and http://dukeo.com/mywot-web-of-trust-review-modern-web-totalitarism/ the message is starting to get out there.

One every forum including their own I'm tired of hearing them "lol" every negative comment, instead of realizing there is truth to the problem. I can understand that raters don't have long term vested interest, but their management should be hearing this loud and clear and doing something about it.

For a Finnish company, this is completely bogus. How can people fall for this? Web of Trust, yeah right. Web of Turd is more like it. Well, just as soon as I looked up FeministFrequency.com from their website, the site rating is rigged possibly by multiple accounts of the same user. I am sure feminists and the web of turd users are the real trolls here, not anybody else. My posts get thumbs down quick and I had to delete 'em. SiteJabber and Trust My Web are all I have. It is hilariously pathetic that MyWOT is trusted by their own community from the site rating, all 95/100. Seriously? The only best way to not trust WOT services is to DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT. You can simply delete it in your profile settings from the MyWOT forums.

If anybody opposes my opinion seriously, I pity you and feel sorry for you, so sorry that you're here to conform like therapists and money-making politicians. It's best to stay away from the WOT services. I thought Finland has a clean government, but in reality, the country has a long way to go. The Finnish government cannot get rid of this mess indefinitely. The WOT services is corrupted as JP Morgan and Microsoft. Whatever you do, just don't trust MyWOT. Feel free to spit on their company's floor because we really need to get them off our internet. 1 out of 5 stars.

I was attacked by the same usual suspects... After spending a considerable amount of money trying to figure out who's who... I learned many of the super users are in fact mywot.com employees. These employees go out and search for websites to rate negatively. Moreover, these same employees of mywot.com have become members of other more viable and trustworthy reputation websites. For example, Username Shazza on Mywot.com is also username Sharons on SiteAdvisor.com who is paid to negatively rate people on mywot.com, then go to other reputation websites and negatively rate them there too very similar to the rating on mywot.com. Why? So that mywot.com's credibility is consistent with other reputation websites... Username Superhero58 is another employee of mywot.com, Username cg is another employee of mywot.com... The list goes on and on, though those are the names I can recall off the top of my head... I now have confirmed 32 super users being paid by mywot.com to go after various websites.

Anyways, I learned quite a bit about this company, and none of it was good... Facebook.com is a big player in mywot.com, mainly due to all of their privacy issues. So they are more or less using wot to boost their reputation. Mywot & facebook have a partnership (just in case you didn't know)... I was even threatened a suit would come my way if I publicized the info I obtained. As they can see, I'm not all that scared of them!

Mywot is abused by people who scour the internet looking for worldviews that they disagree with. One of their regulars told me that I was a quack for teaching meditation and that he should have given me all red flags, but he "was in a good mood." So, he gave me yellow ratings which means that I might be ripping off old ladies and hijacking their bank accounts. He also bragged about taking down an antivaccination website and a creationism site because of their views. This is a widespread practice in Web of Trust. All you need to do is look at their forum conversations, and you'll see that these people are taking down anyone who says anything that disagrees with them. I only found out about the site because a woman refused to turn in an article she specifically wrote for my blog because she was getting red flags. I spend hours contacting customers who could hopefully fix the problem. MYWOT has now been shown to BUY FACEBOOK likes from two suppliers online.

MYWOT, a small company who has recently been caught buying Facebook likes from two suppliers online has had 24% of their likes removed by FACEBOOK.

Facebook also has since removed MYWOT as a partner due to unscrupulous activities found to be " not trustworthy" by Facebook executives.
" The decision to cancel our relationship with MYWOT is unfortunate, however, Facebook has found evidence of manipulation of companies on the MYWOT system. Facebook acknowledges that MYWOT has a open forum rated by internet peers, however the ranking system has substantial flaws. " Google executive Matt Cohler states.
Matt Cohler continues to state that " Facebook will be more careful in the future in regards to partnerig with companies such as MYWOT."

MYWOT has been falling in popularity over the past 12 months as more and more and more users realize that their rating system is systematically flawed.

I wish I could give a rating of ZERO stars.

I have had horrible experience with this site.

If by chance your site gets a poor rating on their system there is little to no fixing it.

It doesn't matter if you register and rate your own site. You have to take days of rating other sites first, and you have to agree with the WOT community when rating them. Then once you have established a rating history with them, then your ratings that differ with theirs "start" to count.
The ratings are weighted, read it in their own FAQ section. WOT users that have rated more sites carry more weight with their ratings.
The worst part is, if your site has a poor rating, and you post it to your Facebook page, your link won't redirect to your site. It gets a warning from Facebook that was created by their "trusted" partner myWOT and warns you to not visit the site.
If it weren't the affiliation with Facebook, I wouldn't care or even know about myWOT.

From what I have seen the top users of myWOT create forums directing people to give poor ratings to sites of people they don't like. The ratings are given without any regard to whether a site is safe or not. What's worse, one of the remedies that myWOT offers is to PURCHASE their Web Of Trust seal to attempt to raise your ratings. Which leads to the question... is there compensation given to the top users of myWOT for rating so many sites with a poor rating?

== Been known for years, but until now nothing has changed ==

I run a blog about Internet fraud and other WWW rip-off and the 10 years. Until August 2016 I found WOT quite well and have often published some opinions about my articles. Until August, on the day when I wanted to have my website evaluated about the WOT Communitie. I can advise any web site owner, especially with a DE domain, of it only. Of because of the possibility that a huge user community then rated the websites. Firstly, the basic language in the forum is English, at least until it becomes unpleasant. And secondly, there is currently only one German evaluator with the pseudonym "Kraftwerk". Whoever deals with this person in the least has lost mercilessly. So I thought at least. I do what bloggers should do in this particular case, I make any experience with this pseudonym public. WOT itself is certainly not bad and most reviews are generally synonymous with my experiences. Only one circumstance I can not understand. For years it hails complaints about "power plant" and most even to right. Why does not WOT do anything about it and its reputation is so undermined. Power station stands for almost everything that is not permissible and nevertheless this person is not braked. But tapping the whole story now would be tiring and boring. The topic "mywot and power station" has become incredibly complex. I have set up my own category in my blog

http://www.webportale-24.de/category/web-of-trust-wot-eine-never-ending-story/

We were able to collect a lot of almost slaying evidence, as the pseudonym "Kraftwerk" acts and that is doubtless criminal. In the meantime the support is no longer my contact, because this page is definitely nothing. According to our research, ads are reimbursed, lawyers switched on, massive complaints about power station every day, but where is the support? It may also be relevant that the market share of WOT in Germany is very limited. So limited that all complaints are simply "exposed". But what about the many web site operators whose existence has already been destroyed by Kraftwerk?

Sorry my English is not so good

WOT - MyWot.com is a total scam. They have a insider group of people their job is to just give out negative ratings to site -- without even reviewing them.

If something does not suit their own agenda, they give it negative ratings. They were not able to get "WOT.com" domain so they gave it negative rating. Any site that expose them they give it negative rating. Competitor sites, you guessed it right, negative ratings. If anyone leaves negative rating about MyWot, they delete those ratings. This is not a democratic system by the users, it is a system that is run by a handful of powerusers that don't have any credibility. What a bunch of jokers.

Stay away! Initial appearance is of a great service that reviews sites for everyone's safety. I have learned the hard way, that my impression was totally false! MAFIA is a closer description. I have a small business. I set up a site 6 months ago. Having used WOT plug-in with my Internet explorers, I had WOT verify and rate my site. I was a GREEN safe site. Being small, over the past 6 months I did not get any additional reviews (pro or con). I went to mywot.com and read their site's suggestions. It stated for me to go to the forum, and ask the community to rate my site. I followed their suggestion. With in 2 hours, I had been rated by the famous "SuperHero58", who claimed that my site was a Scam, Misleading claims, unethical, and Spam! 100% NOT TRUE! Then, a fellow community Member "milliem" jumps in behind SuperHero58, and claims Misleading claims or unethical. And could not find my contact information. AGAIN 100% Not true! I immediately contacted myWot customer service, about the false claims. They only responded that I could rebuttal the members and their comments. Which I then did. ANOTHER Mistake! After I did that, they went to my site where I had links to product companies that I work with, and RATED THEIR SITES FROM GREEN TO DANGEROUS RED. Same false claims, with absolutely no proof of anything. When you want management to act on the false claims, they want over $500 to correct. It is in itself a scam, a typical mafia tactic.
I refuse to pay the $500+ payoff, but it is a shame, as I do have type 2 diabetic customers who like my products. They reduce their need for insulin. They are contacting me now via telephone concerned about the site warning that they have seen. I have explained to them, but how many do not call me? Now this is a real shame, as there are people out there who are mislead by this rip off site and their community leaders, like "SuperHero58".
