This is the 3rd and 4th time I have used Nature Hills Nursery ever since last year. I've had two landscapers down here in Texas that my Lilacs, Magnolia tree aren't and don't grow here in Texas. Well after a year ago, they are growing and blooming. Someone here also told me Pink Dogwood trees face the same fate. Well, we'll find out as my trust in the quality of Nature Hills Nursery products goes against the thinking of these native Texans!
I ordered trees about a month before the appropriate planting season for my location. I am now at the end of that planting season and the trees still haven't shipped. I have called every week for the past month, they are still unable to provide an estimate on when the trees will ship. I expressed a concern that the trees will likely not have time to establish a root system now before the hard frost in my area and will likely die. However, despite this I have been advised that I will be charged a 20% fee if I cancel, despite purchasing the 1 year warranty. I do not recommend using this nursery.
I started to place a large order online - as soon as I put in my CC info, the site wouldn't let me make any changes to my cart, but my card was immediately charged without confirmation. I called the company - he didn't see any charge on his end - I placed the corrected order on the phone and confirmed the first incomplete order hadn't gone through. I was immediately charged for both orders. It took me forever to finally get them to cancel the first order. I received my order - in pretty good shape, but the dogwood had a major fungal infection. I gave it 2 weeks of perfect treatment and care, but it got worse. I contacted them about a replacement, including photos, but was refused

Order a 6ft bare root maple tree. It came rough but we followed instructions to plant it (mind you we ordered a few trees). This spring I noticed it looked the same and never had new growth. We followed their guidance and determined the tree was indeed dead. They said they would give me 50% of the value towards a replacement tree. They now raised the price of the tree to 2.5x that of its original cost and will only give me 50% of what I paid initially. It would cost more than $100 to try and get the same tree and size and their '50% coverage' isnt even enough to offset shipping. They wont honor the tree price so this warranty is useless. I was told i could use the '50%' towards a flower instead...

I was so disappointed with my purchase I lost a red Japanese maple to a disease that went through our neighborhood I replaced it with this one with this tree I purchased from you. The trunk was a L shape.at the bottom. So bad it couldn't be planted straight.I'm an elderly person and my nephew was here to plant it. He went ahead and planted it and said. He did everything right but he doubt it would live. I won't order a plant online again. It. Hurts me to give bad reviews to anyone.
Excellent service! The shinseiki pear tree was well-packaged and delivered in one piece. Upon opening the box, the shinseiki pear tree was healthy with vibrant green leaves and it continues to flourish. I'm happy with my purchase and will order from nature hills nursery again.
I ordered two 2 gallon plants for $85 each and NH said they would be shipped in 10-14 days. They haven't shipped and are saying the roots are not ready or strong enough to ship due to cold weather. WHAT? If they had the plants already in a pot then they would be ready to be shipped; there is no way to order a 2 gallon/big plant and have it root in 10 - 14 days! They are misrepresenting what they are selling. Anyone could put a baby plant in a 2 gallon pot and say here is your huge plant but... BUYER BEWARE! P.S. Now they want to charge a 10% restocking fee for something they don't even have in a pot and growing. It should have been growing for over 2 years! SMH

I ordered two Sasanqua Camelia shrubs ($98 ea.) and four Autum Ferns. I'm sorry and very disappaointed with the tiny and damaged looking Sas! I took pictures and sent them to them and while they agreed a little "bad" I had no recourse for return unless I spent $60 each for shipping and pay a restocking fee if 40%! So I will try to nurse these babies and chalk this down as an expensive lesson learned. I will buy local next time! The packaging cost more than the product

I ordered a tree and after waiting 2-3 weeks for it to ship was informed it wasn't going to be ready to ship for at least 2 more weeks. They then said I would be charged a $10 or 10% fee for canceling the order. They didn't show the shipping estimate which just says "ships spring 2022 weather permitted" until I had already paid. Bad costumer service and ended up giving me a full refund because I was such a pain in their butts. Hope they don't scam more people. Best of luck
The Rutpink Kousa dogwood came in very excellent condition. It was extremely well packed. I have bought many nursery items from other dealers. This packing was the best I have ever seen. This comment comes from a retired nursery man. Great job! Thanks, Jim

I bought a Japanese Maple, their site said it grows in my zone (zone 9). When I received the tree the tag said zone 8. I contacted Nature Hills immediately, asked if the correct tree had been shipped. I sent pictures of the tree and the tag. They assured me the tree is for zone 9, and the tags are sometimes incorrect. I planted the tree. The tree has been in the ground about 10 days, it is sunburnt, and drying. The tree has been planted properly, watered properly, in soil where other plants grow. I sent pictures of the leaves, and asked for a refund because they either sent me the wrong tree or their site information is incorrect. I have not heard back from them. My pictures and my receipt will not upload.

Don't buy from them, when things go wrong they skirt the issue.

Soooo disappointed. Communication was fair (order received, order shipped), but the product was awful. Poor condition. I think the issue was the long delivery time. From Oregon to Virginia. Just too long a journey.

We purchased from Nature Hills Nursery because, according to their web site, they had the number of plants we needed in stock. So we placed the order and the confirmation stated they would not ship until Spring 2023. I called customer service and asked why they stated they were in stock when they weren't and they said they were in stock, but that they just wouldn't ship them. I then asked them to cancel my order and they informed me that they would be charging me a 10% cancellation fee. When I questioned the fee they told me that if I had clicked on the 'growing zones' button, it would have told me they wouldn't ship until spring. They have deceptive business practices. Buyer beware!

I ordered a tree online after hours to find I ordered the wrong tree. I went to their site and filled out a form to cancel and was going to order the right tree.
24 hours I received a reply email thanking me for the order and telling me that the tree will be shipping soon (avoiding mentioning anything about my canceling request). I emailed again and got a response 20 hours later saying that I couldn't cancel because the order is in shipping status.
The family owner business that they proud them self of is built on greed and disregard to customers errors.
I purchased multiple trees from Nature Hills and the warranty coverage.
One tree arrived damaged and was immediately replaced, while the 2nd tree in that shipment was also damaged and died later I had to pay for replacement. Said I didn't report the problem with in 48 hours of receiving- even though I had reported entire package was damaged.
3rd tree died over winter (1 year warranty) I contact on dead tree was told to monitor it for another month to see if it would rebound. No change. Contact again and was told tree is out of warranty now. VERY DECEPTIVE practices, making you wait till out of warranty period! DONT BUY FROM Support you local nursery.
I was initially concerned as the tree was being shipped from Oregon to Eastern Pennsylvania. After I received it, I unboxed it and got it properly planted. A month later it has taken root and it thriving. I planted it in honour of my recently deceased wife, Meg. I expect the tree to be as beautiful as my wife.

They are growing lovely! My Wisteria Tree came to me and looked like it wasn't going to survive, but once I put in in soil it spruced right back up and is growing fast!
All my orders have been packaged well and ready for planting. Once planted, plants did well. If there were any problems after receiving plants, staff is very supportive and helpful.
Trees and shrubs came as advertised and are doing well after planting. Will order again when ready.
The plants took a long time to arrive, long after other plants ordered at the same time arrived. The plants were packaged so poorly, most of the soil was out.
The shrubs were altogether subpar. I am trying to get a refund but have a terrible feeing they won't issue me a credit, based on the fact that this is an altogether awful company.
I had purchased hundreds of dollars in shrubs and trees, then received a dead pawpaw tree... no roots, just a dead stick. Sent photos immediately, was told to wait two weeks, still no growth. Told to wait two more weeks, still no growth. Then customer service told me they were not responsible for how it was shipped or how I treated it (it was already dead when I got it). Told me that I would have to pay 50% of the price to replace it. That is nothing but theft. DO NOT BUY FROM NATURE HILLS NURSERY.
Ordered a Mimosa Tree. It was packaged very well and arrived in great condition. It bloomed once after I planted it. Can't wait to see what it will do next year!

Really sad there are companies like this. I was so excited to get my trees for my new garden and unfortunately, I just received dead trees and I'm out a bunch of money.
For the trees I got the price seems rather high. They are about 3/8" and my White bark won't show until they're about 2 inches in diameter so it's gonna be a while. $148 plus $25 shipping.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! I placed an order by mistake last evening and attempted to cancel two mins later. NO ANSWER ON THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE. The system created a ticket, and I was not contacted back. I called the this morning right away and was LIED TO about the package already being shipped. Once I questioned this then the gal on the phone said the package would be in a pile of packages to ship with a label and stated, "THIS IS NOT OUR MISTAKE" "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO"! I said if you are NOT willing to cancel the order what can you do to make this right and she refused to do anything! Then SHE HUNG UP ON ME! WOW, and this is a Business. BUYER BEWARE!

Ordered in April 2021 a tree that was "shipping Spring 2021." Spring almost over and still no tree. Made multiple attempts to contact them with no success. They don't even let you call them about existing orders, which screams "scam" to me. They will only give you a real person to talk to if you're looking for help deciding what to order. Of course they're more than happy to have their salespeople talk to you so you spend more money with them. The contact forms on their website result in no responses.
Update: I disputed the charge with my credit card company. The next day, I finally got an email from their customer service stating they were about to ship my order when they found out I had issued a stop payment on it. Sure you were. They offered to give me a full refund, in the form of a gift card, plus $10 if I dropped the dispute. Yeah, that's not happening. I have zero confidence that they'd actually honor the gift card when I try to use it, and they then hold all the power, with no ability to use the CC company for disputes. I have them the option of using a full refund to my CC. They responded that that was against their terms and conditions. Well it's against my terms and conditions to charge me for something you never sent, so they can stuff it and deal with the CC company.
