This is the 3rd and 4th time I have used Nature Hills Nursery ever since last year. I've had two landscapers down here in Texas that my Lilacs, Magnolia tree aren't and don't grow here in Texas. Well after a year ago, they are growing and blooming. Someone here also told me Pink Dogwood trees face the same fate. Well, we'll find out as my trust in the quality of Nature Hills Nursery products goes against the thinking of these native Texans!
I ordered trees about a month before the appropriate planting season for my location. I am now at the end of that planting season and the trees still haven't shipped. I have called every week for the past month, they are still unable to provide an estimate on when the trees will ship. I expressed a concern that the trees will likely not have time to establish a root system now before the hard frost in my area and will likely die. However, despite this I have been advised that I will be charged a 20% fee if I cancel, despite purchasing the 1 year warranty. I do not recommend using this nursery.

Wanted a bonanza peach tree. Couldn't find them anywhere. Found it on their website. Bogo sale was going on. The thing is when they do bogo, you can't get one plant. It automatically adds 2 plant. Both arrived without any protection. Still planted them. Both didn't show any growth after a month. Emailed and sent pics, was told to wait. Another 3 months later zero growth.emailed - replied with circumstances happen, you get 50% of plant price. Ok. Since you got on bogo - now you need to order 2 plants more ( they do only item to item replacement) + pay for shipping. Why do they get to decide how we use our 50% of the money?
I think they are doing this as a scam. If you paid for the extra warranty, you get good plants. If you don't pay for that you get subpar plants and you either pay them more and more as they die or people just give up not wanting to give them more money for low quality plants. Win for them both ways.
Placed my order on 06/29/24, it is now 07/28/24 and still nothing. Nothing on an order that was to ship in 7-10 days. Whenever I open a ticket( how you contact them) I get the same response,
Be patient, blah, blah, we'll ship as soon as we can. What a crock. Buyers beware!
In early Sept I place an order for 4-5 plants. Was told it would be a week to 10 days. After the 10th day i contacted Barry who stated that the weather was to hot to ship so it would be a little while as it gets cooler.
At that time the daytime was in the 80 to 90 degrees. After another 2 weeks which is now September 20 all most a month since ordering. I asked for a delivery estimate, and he could not give me one, just SOON.
I asked to cancel, and he said there is a charge for cancelling 20%. I asked for a store credit, and he said OK. Look for an email with a coupon. 5 days later no coupon called again and funny I got the coupon in 2 days. As it was now October and cooler like 70s daytime 60s night time I used the coupon ordered different plants and was told 7 to 10 days delivery. 12 days later no plants and got the same BS. Weather conditions not right for sending. On October 30 I told them keep the 20% (for what no plants?) Just refund the rest. And was told about 2 weeks to get it put back on my account. What a SCAM. Went online to Lowes and found the same plants I wanted. Ordered them and got delivery in 6 days and all were larger and cheaper. I wonder how many time I'll have to call for my refund. Please save your money and time and look else where.
Tip for consumers:
Stop lying to the public about delivery

Tree nearly dead 9 months after arrival. I bought warranty hoping they will honor the replacement. They keep making unreasonable requests for proof of death after many calls. They are bad! Don't buy from them.
Almost purchased 4 hydrangias. Web page indicated BOGO. The website page for the hydrangias indicated BOGO. The checkout page gave no indication of BOGO. Called naturehils.com. Person on phone looked. He found no indication of BOSO. Said the offer probably expired and w I uld not honor the offer. Asked for the supervisor and manager. In both cases he stated they we re out. No one avaliable to listen. I cancelled the order and found a better deal [with didcounts] from another retailer. Watchout.
After several weeks of not receiving my order, I asked to cancel it as it was still in "processing" and I wanted to get plants in the ground. I was told there is a 20% fee for canceling which I still cannot find in any fine print of ordering so it must be well buried. They said they were waiting until it was warmer to ship, which is also not clearly listed anywhere on the description of the product. So I waited another full 2 weeks to receive, well after we were not having any frosts predicted. Just received the dwarf boxwoods today and for $50.00 each they are only just slightly bigger than a can of diet coke. They also arrived with loose bags around the pots so all the dirt was all over the box and none in with the roots. Ugh. So very disappointing. If I could give 0 stars, I would!
Ordered 29 inch Canadian Hemlock. Came in very leggy and not full. Called customer service several days later and was told I only had three days to report this. Otherwise to replace, they would only cover 50% of cost. I was also told they DO have fuller trees. However, no explanation why I was sent one that is clearly not. Was told I would be called by someone higher up. It has been almost 4 days and no call back. There are other incredible nurseries with impeccable customer service.

Everything I ordered was in excellent condition and all are doing well. I would and did recommend Nature Hills to my neighbors and family. I also found shrubs/plants I could not find elsewhere. I especially like native shrubs for the mid atlantic region and will look for more.
Ordered a few trees and plants and everytime packaging is nicely done. Customer service is better than most online nurseries. However, the last order wasn't as nice as I expected it. The tree looked very stressed and ha many burnt leaves. And the shipping took awhile before it left the nursery.
Plant delivered late in year. Plant did not have time to build up defense for winter or any type of growth...died over winter.
Delivered on 8/22 which late fall early winter. Why so late? Don't know!
Now only guaranteed half money spent on this dead plant. NEVER AGAIN!
Do not recommend purchase from this company.
Like a used car salesman, they try to sell extended over priced insurance policy.
Terrible customer service and guarantees.

Sixty percent of my purchased trees arrived with tons of holes in the leaves and broken leaves. Customer service said it's "normal" and part of their standard quality to ship out items that have endured damage due to pests or rough handling. Every single leaf had at least 5 tiny holes in a tree that only had about 15 leaves total. Many leaves were tattered, too. I can't believe the prices given the trashed appearance of what I received. I suggest going with a competitor for your landscaping needs.

Very nice rose tree, when it first arrived, and prior to planting - all the leaves fell off.
Must have been stress from the trip (Omaha, NE to Evans Georgia). Once it settled down, all the greenery has returned with many blooms.
Great job
Thank you

We finished our fire pit/bed expansion project later than anticipated this fall, and found the plant selection at local big box garden centers and nurseries very limited, and many plants were stressed and/or diseased (I work for a local grower of annuals and vegetables in the Spring, and I can see when plants haven't been cared for properly). I was leary of online ordering, but took the risk anyway, and was extremely pleased with the entire process! Ordering was streamlined, and I could easily plan the garden from the comfort of my home. The prices were very competitive, the delivery was on time and effortless (no driving/hauling/packing in my own vehicle), the packaging exceptional, and the plants healthy, lush and larger than most I found locally. I never thought I would trust others to choose my plants for me, but this experience was so positive, they've won my future business! Thank you Nature Hills!

Purchased 2 Japanese maple trees at $82 a piece. One immediately died upon receipt. Leaves were curling in when I took it out of the box. Followed instructions from customer service to pot it and try and save it. Asked for a replacement and told "you would need to pay $ 44.98,1/2 cost of the plant that died, plus 24.95 shipping costs at a total of $69.93." So it seems the customer is responsible for being delivered an essentially dead tree and then expected to pay $12 less for a replacement.
Tip for consumers:
There replacement policy places the cost burden back on the customer.

I ordered 3 rose bushes from this firm. Two of them had over 50% of their branches broken and the bushes looked dead and dry. I requested a refund or replacement but the company service said no, their policy did not cover damages in delivery. I was forced to dispute my credit card charge for the two items.
Tip for consumers:
They have a policy against any responsibility for damage during delivery.

I finally located the rose variety I had been looking for at Nature Hills. I had never heard of this distant nursery, but took a chance and placed my order. The plant arrived in a timely manner. I was surprised to find a mature bush with seven buds on it when I opened the box. It has settled in nicely, and looks happy and healthy a couple of months after planting. It was an investment, but will be worth it if it lives 25+ years like the other one that I have of this variety. Thank you Nature Hills.

I purchased four apple trees from Nature Hills, two honey crisp and two pink ladies. The pink ladies arrived last fall with splits in the bark around the base. I notified them at the time of arrival then as it was fall planted them and hoped for the best. This spring I have two dead sticks for the pink ladies and two healthy honey crisp so it is not a planting or care issue. Now Nature Hills wants $100 plus shipping for two replacements and they do not have stock. I purchased four pink ladies from Home Depot for $35 each. Nicer trees at lower cost. Unless you are in the market for poor quality at a high price and poor service when you want help I suggest you steer clear of this company.

I purchased a Texas Ash and planted it right at the beginning of November. The first thing I noticed is that the tree was too big for the pot that it was sent in. The roots were incredibly knotted together -- I tried to pull them apart for planting as best I could. We'll see how the tree fares. I've been giving root stimulator once per month and watering regularly. As of mid-February, the tree is still alive. Tried to bud out once in the warm Texas winter, but then got clipped by the hard freezes, but it's still alive. Looking forward to see it bud (again) in the spring!
Placed an order 8/5 w confirmation. Obscure notation that the product would ship in Fall. When I cancelled the order, they wanted to up sell me for shipping (+80% premium), give me a digital credit or charge for cancellation (15% of purchase price). This company will take your money and give very poor service.
I bought two cherry trees from nature hills nursery paid to much thinking I was dealing with a great company and they would stand behind what they sale. I was wrong one of the trees out of two didn't look as good as other but we planted hoping for the best but it Died other tree we happy with. Asked for a replacement they said would give 50% of what I and I pay shipping of a tree we already paid higher price for. We will not be buying anything from them again I would not recommend to anyone!
Tip for consumers:
There bad return policy!

When I received my plant upon arrival, I noticed immediately that the plant was destroyed. I tried to save it but it died shortly after arriving. I called customer service and they never called me back. I payed 75 dollars for a dead destroyed plant. Do not buy from them.
I have never ordered a tree much less two! However I have wanted a Walking Stick tree for a long time! I was pleasantly surprised how easy Nature Hills Nursery made this purchase! And the two trees I received were bigger and fuller than expected! I have planted them and they have beautiful new growth already! The price was better than I found here in my home town which was a plus also. I will certainly order from Nature Hills again!
