Took 3 weeks to get card, then 3 phone calls to get it activated for the app wouldn't do it, then 5 phone calls to attempt to put money on the card to be able to use which still won't allow to do it not online on the phone and not in the app spent way took much time and effort to even consider using it ever!
My brother died and I contacted their customer service. I was informed of what documentation was needed to have access to his account. Information was sent. When I called back, the representative was rude, told me the account was closed and the balance was $0. I said I know he had just received his disability checks right before he died and I know he had money. I was told I wasn't allowed to know that information, even though I'm next of kin. They are keeping money. I've filed a complaint with the FTC.
I am the guardian to my disabled son and I was trying to help him. They refused to take my guardian papers so I could help him. It became easier to withdraw the funds and open an account with a credit union.

Have a pending transaction with Netspend for 2 weeks and Netspend won't release funds back to my account. The merchant (my Credit Union) has verified they don't see transaction to verify, accept, or cancel. Netspend has a moving target as to when the funds will be put back into my account. First it was Jan. 19, then Jan. 24 and now who knows... On vacation and really need the funds. ($1318)

Bought a prepaid $100 prepaid card at the end of november 2023, and could not access the funds. I could not get the card activated, and after multiple emails and calls they tell me that their records show my account has already been closed, and my social security number showed up as belonging to a deceased person. I checked my credit report with all 3 major bureaus, my chex systems report, and my records at the social security administration. None of them list me as deceased. They told me to get some form from the social security office to show I was mistakenly marked deceased, but I cant get it because they never made that mistake. I recommend not even making eye contact with netspend cards.

I was supposed to have received a $50 pre-paid card from them. The card never showed. When you call their customer service, they do not let you speak to a representative without said card number. So then your last resort is through email, to which they just tell you to call the number and speak to customer service.
After all of this, out of pure exhaustion I gave up. Recently I received an email saying the card would soon expire due to inactivity. I once more went through this process and experienced the same run-around.
It's one circulative process that is scummy, dirty, and mad evil. No doubt the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

My account got hacked and I've been going thru the process of filing my dispute and they just keep on sending me in circles! And when ever I ask to speak to a supervisor they put me on hold FOREVER! Hoping that I'll just hang up and the supervisor never answers the phone!

Horrible customer service, I was transferred many times without anyone being able to activate my card. Customer service representatives were rude and un knowledgeable. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT buy a netspend card.

Recently on 12/25/23 my card was somehow hacked, account drained, and netspend has been no help. They tell you to file a dispute which can take anywhere from 10 to 90 days and in the meantime you are out your funds. They do not do like traditional banks and credit your account.

They will not activate my son's card after numerous attempts. Now they want documentation of a social security card, proof of address, and 3 months worth of utility bills. It's all over seas, they will take your identity! I really hope this corporation gets shutdown.

Card hacked, Disputes filed, clearly was fraud. They denied my disputes, I now have an attorney. They inconvenienced me and now do to over 30 day to get a refund my bills were late. This is totally on them get your money out. They allowed the hacker to change my PW and phone number. They knew when my deposit hit, how much was left after their attack on me. I admitted that I was the one that used my card for a transaction that I found was a bad deal. So NetSpend went ahead and blocked my card. The money on it is to pay my bills which I can't now. I asked the man to expedite my new card and he said that it will cost me $25 and then he tells me that he can't expedite my new card to my p.o.box. That is a bunch of crock

So this is my 3rd day on the phone with them. First car was very rude. Sent them documentation for last year to verify who I was still won't reactivate my account. I may lose my job because I can't get to work. Information sent license, tax information, paystub and others. I'm tired of jumping through hoops work theses people. DON'T ACTIVATE AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. Save yourself the trouble. They are not willing to work with you at all.

Severely pissed off after waiting over a month in a half for the dispute team to get my money back from a transaction I didn't make in the amount of 157.98 they denied it and won't give me my money back this is wrong and netspend can go to hell stay clear of getting a netspend card nothing but hell on earth with these people this is not the first time I've had an issue with them. Netspend is a horrible card,no matter what you purchase you pay1.95 fee on it even if what you buying costs.75 cents f ing stupid! My wife and I will be promptly cutting up our cards and feeding the shredder! NEVER AGAIN

Someone made an unauthorized transaction to my card. I called netspend and after 3 times of being placed on hold for a total of 1 hour and 47 minutes, they blocked my card and hung up on me causing extreme difficulty in re-contacting the company. They have my personal information, ssn and the remaining balance of cash that was on the card.it has been 8 weeks since this has happened, the only people you can connect to are in INDIA, so there is also a continuing communication problem. When asking to speak with someone whom speaks English they get mad and place you on hold and of course after 30-45 minutes of hold they disconnect the phone line. They claim to be a Government entity, but it seems there is no relief here. I believe this is a big scam considering everything I've been put through! Does anyone know a way to make them do right? I mean there is no information to contact a live person and they use many forms of interference when trying to contact them...to give a rating you have to atleast give them the least of one star, which is to much! Ha, can you believe, while trying to enter my review they have a statement saying it's against the law to write a false Review. Now that is funny as s__t! I'm sure stealing my money is against the law! With so many negative reviews I can't believe they're allowed to remain in business.

I had a netspend account and they closed my account and has not has not sent me my $289.00 that i had in there when they closed it. I keep calling and they keep giving me thr run around. I called to change my address 5x and they never changed it. It has been 4 weeks and still have noit gotten my money from them. I need help to get it back. And there sister company deep blue also has over $300.00 of mine and will not send it to me. They keep telling me that they will send out but have not. By law when they close a acct they have 14 days to send you what u had left in the acct.

I have been a NetSpend customer for about 5 plus years sadly due to the decline in American standards of business practices and out sourcing to foreign countries I will never in life recommend NetSpend to anyone I know even if they were to pay me. It started when I asked to dispute a transaction. Then from there they deactivated my card without my permission which still has money or it 5 dollars no big deal. Also I just used my card that day the automated service told me I hadn't used the card in 365 days which I had used it that day. I tried to have it cancelled which the foreign entity told me I have to be transferred to another useless foreign entity to cancel guess what I'm cutting the card up and discontinuing its use and im going to get a american bank account. My advice to anyone that has this service dump it asap. Maybe one day when they get American entities to start handling their business matters I might change my mind until then their services are trash and worthless and useless great job NetSpend by the way I only gave it one star because I had to pick something the rating I really wanted to give would have been 1/4 of star
