They received a "suspicious"phone call on a Thursday. I was not notified at all. That following Friday my account was hacked and almost 400 dollars was stolen from me two days before Christmas. After money was transferred they then put a hold on my account, they refused to give me any information and I had to call several times to even speak with someone. They also refused to investigate or refund my money. Do not bank with them! They don't even deserve one star but I don't have a choice.
I bought my daughter a card and put a $150 on it. She tried to use it and it declined. She emailed the company and they said that there are restrictions on the account and you can't resolve it through email. So she called. They hung up on her. How do you get something resolved when you can't make contact.? So very frustrating. So very sorry I spent $150 on this card. I bought another one for my other daughter and hers declined as well. So now I am out $300 because there is no way to resolve issues. This is theft.

Bought a netspend at Walgreens. It was very difficult to activate and they asked many personal questions including your personal social security number. I stopped when it got to the social security number as this is very risky. They put me on hold and said, someone would be right with me. After 15 minutes no one came and I hung up. I got a charge on my phone bill for the 15 minutes. This is a sham operation!

I have had this account for over a decade, I used to "sing their praises" of what a great company this is to anyone that would listen. EVEN THOUGH this card will not get approved at 99.9% of companies offering direct deposit, even though every-time you login online it tells you all about their "wonderful easy to setup" Direct Deposit. NOPE not gonna happen. Including at my company. You cannot rent a car, you can't rent a hotel room, your charged a minimum of $3.45 for every ATM transaction. I just recently found out my account has been hacked for A LOT of money a week before Christmas. There are hundred of APPLE payment going back months if not years, I have not gotten that far in my investigation but going back through my transaction history, it appears this person has had my card information FOR A WHILE, buying gas and food at small amounts so I would not notice. Waiting to hear from the Fraud Department. STAY AWAY!

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the worst absolutely worse prepaid credit card that you can use on the earth. They charge you for every transaction and if you go online to buy things, they will shut your credit card down and sometimes they won't even issue your money out at all after they shut your credit card down. They are always putting restrictions on the card if you buy things online and you cannot overcome that you have to call in and if you have more than three times that you bought things online they will suspend your card for ever they say they're going to send you your money but this is the second Netspend prepaid card. I've had the first one never sent me my money back. I'm praying that they will send me my money back this time because it's almost $400. That I put on there to buy my grandkids Christmas presents so it's totally ruining the Christmas season this year because I won't get the money back for 7 to 10 business days minus of course the holidays as well. Please do not buy this card. It is the worst ever.!

After my home burned down I was about to received my insurance installment and since I no longer have an address to receive a check I went with NetSpend to have it direct deposited. I called to make sure the temporary card wouldn't pose any issues, I was told no problem we will order your permanent card and you can use the temporary one until then. OMG WORST MISTAKE EVER! After the transfer was made even after it showed posted they still put a hold on it until I receive permanent card and the day before card was to arrive they rejected the deposit. I am on the street and they are telling me it will take 6 days for it to be returned. WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF A TEMPORARY CARD AND THEY ORDERED THE PERMANENT ONE JUST TO USE THAT REASON TO DENY THE TRANSFER. THESE PEOPLE ARE CLUELESS AND EVERY PERSON I SPOKE TO GAVE DIFFERENT REASONS. NETSPEND IS NOT A BANK AND DOES NOT OPERATE LIKE ONE. THEY ARE Fraudulent AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY

It's a joke and a scam, it's just impossible to active the so called "debit card"... I'm surprised how a legal scam is going on in the grocery stores... they place their joke cards besides the gift cards to get customers confused... after dealing with fake customer service and the groceries store... surprise... you get to know there's no refund and you just lost your money

I purchased two of these cards from Walmart and tried to activate them multiple times through their telephone Representatives. None of these people would help. They just continue to send me to an automated system that I repeatedly told them is not working for the cards. They refuse to help and now I can't return them to Walmart and I have no money and no card. Do not get this card

This company is built to defraud its customers. I mistakenly bought a "gift card" at Walmart last Christmas only to find that it required all kinds of verification before activation (they wanted a copy of my SS card?). After finally getting the card activated, I foolishly didn't try to use it for several months, in which time the balance was depleted by the high monthly fees. When I did try to use it, it was rejected because the intended purchase amount was higher than the balance "plus applicable fees". No idea what the amount of the fees are, but the purchase amount was below the balance (why are there fees to the user on a debit card anyway?). Then, the card was blocked for unspecified suspicious activity (I tried to log in to my account). After spending 45 minutes being passed around, I was told I needed a copy of my SS card, verification of address, and IRS verification. This is a joke, and I would laugh, except that they are preying on the weakest in the socio-economic chain. Even their customer service methods are designed for people to drop off calls. I am really surprised Walmart would do business with this company. I supposedly am going to get a check for the balance on the card in 7 business days (yeah, right).

They locked me out of part of my account and I don't have a physical card and can't recover it they were so rude to me on the phone and I'm not one that likes to tolerate rude. So as I tried explaining to them for the fourth time and then putting me from one person to another they hung up on me. And my problem is still not results can anybody suggest what a good banking solution would be online?

This company takes advantage of consumers by enticing them with the promise of a bank account or gift for their loved ones and then makes it basically impossible to activate the card. They ask for detailed information about the cardholder and at the end of the process they claim they cannot verify the information. It begins when you select the option to activate the card online, but wait, something went wrong-please call this number. After calling the number, which also happens to be the number they direct you to to file a complaint, you wait on hold for 45 minutes. When you are finally connected to a representative, that person cannot speak or understand english. They also appear to have problems hearing. They ask for all of the same information, making you repeat it several times. At the end of this ordeal, you are told that they cannot verify your information and you must submit some document…. I could not understand what she was saying. I asked multiple times for her to clarify and then she hung up on me.

Netspend has kept my money by locking my card for months. They needed proof of identity. I sent that. They rejected the address info like three times. I used a letter from the IRS. They refused it. I sent a letter from Social Securty Administration, they rejected that. I sent a letter from the Department of Social Services. They rejected that. There is an intentional effort on the part of Netspend to keep some account holders money by the constant frustration of people who need the service the most but are less likely to sue because they are poor. I don't believe the amount of reviews i see that claim five stars. Not with all the complaints and lawsuits i see online. Here it is Christmas and i am being scammed by Netspend, a corporate bully. I filed my taxes in 2021 and I received them on an NetSpend card I was able to use some of my money and then they blocked my card and close my account I had a remaining balance on my account that I have not been able to touch since last year because they keep giving me the runaround telling me yes your checks and issued or they put me on hold and hang up on me or the supervisor gets on the phone and tells me not to worry that the issue my check I should be getting it by such day and that day comes and I still haven't received anything it's been over a year since I have not been able to get my income tax money and it's very frustrating I want to sue them

I have had a account with Netspend for possibly 15 or more years. Today I went to log in and was told to call customer service which I did, only to be informed corporate closed my account for illegal transactions when all my transactions were made on Ebay, Amazon, Uber, Lyft, travel reservations and to transfer money to my family members or girlfriends through Paypal. Not one of my transactions were for gambling or any other illegal activity. When I try to explain this to the customer service agent I was told I cannot appeal the closure and it will be up to 10 days for me to recieve a refund of the money I had in my account. I am blown away with my treatment after being a netspend member for so many years. They do not even provide you a time period to review your transactions as I am prevented from logging in.
