Newyork.going Reviews Summary

The company has garnered a reputation for its engaging platform, appealing to users seeking social connectivity. However, significant concerns have emerged regarding its privacy practices, particularly the unauthorized access to users' address books and the subsequent unsolicited invitations sent to their contacts. This has led to feelings of embarrassment and frustration among users, highlighting a critical need for improved transparency and user control. Overall, while the platform's concept is well-received, the negative feedback underscores the importance of addressing privacy issues to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

Website highjacked my address book /harrassing my contacts - A friend invited me to join goingnyc- http://newyork.going.com/. It seemed cool, so I did. In order to join I had to give my email address and it seems that by doing so, goingnyc was able to access my yahoo address book. A window popped up on which there was a smaller window that showed my yahoo address book right next to which was the text "invite friends to join going" with a clickable tab under it. I wanted to invite a couple of friends, so I clicked it, thinking I would then have the chance to select who to invite. Goingnyc proceeded to invite my entire yahoo address book! Very embarassing! I thought then that people who got it who I wouldn't have sent it to, would just ignore it. But it turns out that if they didn't rsvp one way or the other to goingnyc, the site keeps sending invitation reminders. Very annoying! Also professionaly damaging as my professional contacts now probably have emails sent from me directly to their spam folders!
