“I'm shocked at the low reviews I see about noom.”

Caitlin D.
2/17/23

I started noom in November, 2022 and have loved it! I don't mind the overall price considering it includes an app where I am able to log my meals while the app calculates my calories for me, log my weight, learn new recipes, and best of all… learn so much about my eating habits and what I can do to work toward changing them for 8 months! The only piece I've had a bit of a difficult time with is the cost of the Behavior Coach. Unfortunately, the cost of the behavior coach is monthly and pricey but my Behavior Coach has been super motivating, and helps keep me on track with my individual goals. Therefore, I have decided it's worth the money in order to feel better about myself and work towards making healthier choices. Noom has helped me to lose weight and have more confidence in myself while other programs only ended up making me feel like a failure. Noom is based off research and everything is written by psychologists and it has never made me feel guilty for making choices that aren't as healthy, it just helps me to stay on track and remember that I am human and it's ok to have foods that aren't as healthy sometimes too. I have referred a number of friends and family to noom already!

“To those considering Noom, NO!”

Virginia W.
7/17/24

I just need to let those out there considering NOOM to pay attention to the first two letters --- 'NO!" They tricked me into signing up for multiple types of accounts (when I thought I was renewing their discounted one for another 8 months). I know they settled a lawsuit for $62 million for such practices... but of course I found that out AFTER I'd been tricked and apparently they haven't fully changed their ways. I asked for a refund for being tricked and they delayed it until I was outside their "30-day refund window" and then refused to refund the expenses. INFURIATING! DO NOT SIGN UP! I went back and forth multiple times with their so-called "support" - NOT! I asked them to elevate my claim and they wrote back once more and then closed my ticket. HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING them!

BEWARE! NOOM is an awful company. I signed up for a 2 week trial. The company deluged my inbox with emails. I decided I did not want to use their services so I canceled. Then I get a credit card bill for August and September for almost $200.00. I called to get a refund, and the customer service rep told me I requested the refund past the time period allowed by their company. (Sept was the first full month of my canceled subscription. It is now Sept. 12th.) I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I will not be the first to complain. I see that the company has already been investigated by the BBB.

I signed up for a free 2 week trial but canceled before the two weeks was up. They charged me for a month and half anyway and will not refund my money.

My wife signed me up for a free trial on noom.com. Turns out it wasnt free, it was $129. Their product is a coached food log system. They set my calories at 1400cals. I am 190lbs, 5'9" and fit. My 1st day following Noom.com I pasted out during my workout while holding a 200lb log overhead during PT. I asked my coach Vanessa if I was really supposed to be eating 1400cals? "Yes" How many people have been enrolled and endangered by these coaches? When I asked for a refund, nope. Said I didnt cancel within the specific time period.

Tip for consumers:
Dont waste your money and time with noom.com

I signed up, believing I could cancel at any time, as was indicated on their site. After a few days I realised this service was not for me. Too many pages to read on a daily basis and a complex app. I cancelled. But the monthly subscription CONTINUED to be deducted from my credit card for months. I only noticed this some months later, and so lost about 5-6 months of deductions. Then I started the process of dealing with their service department. The person was helpful and agreed to stop further deductions, but was not the least apologetic. So buyer beware! It's not as easy to stop/cancel your subscription as they indicate. An online cancellation is NOT possible, you will have to deal with a service desk person to have the service cancelled. I'm listening to a BBC podcast about online scams at the moment, and it's this podcast that has prompted me to write this review. More people need to know about this site. Pity I didn't check out the other customer reviews here first. No wonder their review rating is so low.

I was charged $159.00 this morning for "automatic renewal" of Noom. As I have not used it in months I called the company asked them to reverse the charge. They refused and said I agreed "in the fine print" to automatic renewals. THEY JUST CHARGED ME A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO AND THEY REFUSED! Buyer beware.
Don't do business with them!

Basic and repetitive information. They lock you into a subscription and make it hard to get out. I followed the program to a T and it did not work as it should have. No customer service.

There is no personal contact. Overeaters Anonymous is the same program for free and has personal face to face support. It is a ripoff that won't refund your money.

Once you are locked in you are stuck! Not much support other than lots of articles. My "weight loss coach" was not existent. Still trying to get my subscription cancelled, not easy!

Noom is hard sell - with pages and pages of add ons and you have to decline them all or you are irrevocably charged for them. I have cancelled with my credit card, and asked for a consumer action person to help. I do not recommend this program - solely for the HARD SELL, PHONY CHARGES, and difficulty in cancelling and getting a refund. THIS IS AWFUL>

Tip for consumers:
very hard sell with multiple add ons you never asked for

They automatically renew and keep charging you even if you're not using the app. And they are unwilling to give any refund. I NEVER even opened the app.

Tip for consumers:
Don't sign up to being with. Put a calendar reminder so you don't get sucked into the auto renewal without realizing it.

I rarely write reviews but here you go...

To be just and fair, I want to say it started very well with Noom. I liked it, I liked the discipline & the psychology.

However, a Noom Coach reached out to me after I posted something with the community. The coach asked about me and we discussed some stuff. Including Binge eating. Suddenly and with no warning, she said she asked for my subscription to be cancelled. I was left shocked and didn't understand why. Then it hit me, they are trying to protect their capitalist making empire, they don't care about human, to them I was a liability simply because I shared what I was going through. OFC, I understand Noom wasn't a counselling service and as a Dr and Scientist myself, I knew better, but they preferred to protect themselves than be there for me as promised.

Noom for me was a complementary tool, but they took for a stupid making it sound like I was relying on them to fix my binge eating, which was not the case as I am already in control of that and it's like so many human issues, work in progress

My Point it's not bad App but I would be careful with their Coaching and personally I stopped recommending it to patients, colleagues, and friends as what they did is inhumane.

My wife signed up for Noom April 29,2023. I noticed some questionable charges on my credit card. After looking further into the charges, noted Noom billed us $233 before the initial trial period even ended. Then, 7 days later, they billed an additional $63.

Then, the next month, another charge of $233, followed 7 days later by another $63 charge.

My wife contacted them via chat. They claim she signed up for a 'premium' package at $233 every 2 months. My wife did not sign up for a 'premium' package. Furthermore, there is no option to subscribe for that amount on their app. It's like they just made up an amount. They then claim she was automatically signed up for an add-on at $63 every 2 months because the add-on was 'required for the premium package'. My wife then asked for a refund and to have the account canceled effective immediately. At that point, customer support ended the chat session without notice!

We will be filing disputes with the BBB, as well as our credit card company. DO NOT subscribe with Noom!

I joined Noom in April 2020 when I saw a number on the scale I'd never seen before. After 4 months I'd lost 8 pounds following Noom. I then stalled for weeks. I kept my calories to 800 and eventually lost 4 more pounds but I gained it back. I was stuck at this weight. The Noom articles then started preaching accepting where your body wants to be. I kept at Noom for 2 more years. My body wanted to stay at this weight. I refused to accept this. On Easter Sunday 2022, I joined EasyFast and I've dropped 30 pounds in 2.5 months. I went back to losing weight as I always have. I restrict my calories, I don't eat at night, and I fast till noon. I workout throughout the day with walking, gym workouts, Pilates, weights. I workout 2 hours every morning. Noom didn't help me reach my goals. I was supposed to accept being stuck at a weight that was 30 pounds above my goal. I'm back down to my high school weight and feel beautiful again. I feel light. I feel confident. I stayed with Noom to complete this journey by graphing my way back to 124 pounds. Look at the people on Noom commercials. They are all 40+ pounds overweight. They were obese to start with. They needed to lose 100+ pounds. If you are morbidly obese this program like other weight loss programs will work for you but it will stop at a weight that is still overweight but maybe you'll be happy with. I've fought to be thin all my life. Noom can't get you there if you only have 20 or 30 pounds to lose to return to a slender physique. Noom thinks an overweight BMI is a good weight for us. I disagree.

March 24th, 2020

I signed up for Noom in November and paid 129.00 for 6 months, until 4/28/20. On February 18th, I asked my coach about stopping the automatic re-up, just to have control over credit card charges. I made it clear that having financial control was my only motive. I was offered 19.00/ month when I canceled the auto subscription. Fine. I signed up for that, without automatic payments. I never heard from my coach again. On March 28th, I asked for a refund for the lack of coaching. I was immediately kicked off the program even though I still had a month to go. Then, they refunded me a lousy 32 bucks. All in all, I had no coaching for about three months, half of February, all of March and all of April. I have been going back and forth with them, getting emails saying that I am not responded to the help tickets even though I am, getting no apology, no offer to try a different coach, no acknowledgment that I was ignored by my coach for a month before I said anything about it, no apology for just kicking me off when the problem was the lack of coaching. Super disappointing.

This is my second go round with Noom. Accountability is a good thing and logging helps with this. The first time I used Noom my frustration was toward the end of the course, the constant negativity and whining from program participants, cheesy humor, and the nagging. My second time, I noticed the group format changed so the whiny people could whine amongst themselves. They switched red foods to orange color coding- who knows why- healthy fats are good, just don't over indulge so red to orange WTH- generally stupid. If you tell your " coach" to back off in a nice way like don't look for problems where there aren't any, the kid coaches get butt sore and you will be swiftly turned over to a bot that has programmed responses. Yep, you are paying for this. Pretty sure the coaches are just that and have no professional licensure; however the actual program is generally good. I just don't tolerate the yaddy yaddy incessant rambling or the little head pats - for example I went on vacation didn't bother with Noom, came back, logged on and instantly got a " welcome back" some inane $#*! " good job logging puppy". I'm a grown $#*! woman for God's sake. I went on vaca and I came back imagine that. The recipes are pretty good. There is good info, but it becomes repetitive and assumes people are stupid. But it may work for some. Will finish the program, lose the remaining five pounds and continue to log activity and food. Would not pay for this again.Def a program for people who need hand holding.

Tip for consumers:
Before spending money on the product, check for free food and activity logs if that’s all you need. If you need a lot more than spend the money and join.

I’ll finish the program in the next five weeks. I used food and activity logging.

I started this app on a 14-day trial basis. When I started I weighed 265 lb this was September of 2021. I thought I never would lose weight and then I found this app this little program called noom
It changed my life it changed how I saw myself it made me realize what I needed to do to get healthy it helped me to eat better to live better I'm healthier now at 54 then I was when I was 25 I've always been big but now I glad to say that I weigh 150 lb. Thank you cannot express how I feel about this program and about my counselor that I had how she helped me through and all the people in the group that they put me in how they help me. This app and this program changed my life for the better I have osteoarthritis and I have rickets. It helped with the pain I didn't lose all the pain that I thought I would because it is a chronic disease but I can manage it better now but I've lost the weight it's a lifestyle change and it's one that you can maintain it's one that I've learned to maintain easily I still log my food everyday and keep up with my calories and I maintain a healthy weight and I eat healthier and life is better thanks to this program. God bless each and everyone who come up with this idea because it really does help people it help me this is my story this is true.

I was a bit skeptical at first but hey why not. I wasted my money on Nutrisystem & GOLO and this plan is at least more reasonable then the last two I tried plus 2 weeks free how could I resist that. I sign up for two weeks. Found recording my food no problem I'm already used to that. I found out I was eating too many orange category foods. Next I went to my online grocery store and Google foods I loved. Most were yellow but not to many green. So I made a few adjustments bought less density foods and had to drop foods I was eating in the orange category and found alternatives like my yogurt for example was in the orange category but found a similar yogurt in a green category. It was the same brand but in green category when comparing it in the Noom app. Its great you compare your foods in the app with your shopping list before shopping so it makes shopping easier. Your not buying foods then getting home and seeing they are not in the category you expect. The two week free was enough for me to get used to the program so I didn't feel like I needed to continue on the paid program so I cancelled my subscription which by the way I had no problem doing. I have been on the program since June 25th and have lost 6 lbs so far which is good because my activity is minimal. I need knee surgery so I can't walk as well as normal people but I try as much as I can. So far I am happy with my results. Just stick with it and get used to the program and make the adjustments so you eat less dense (green) foods and minimal dense (yellow) foods and you will do just fine. I still eat olives and have my peanut butter & banana sandwiches (orange) category but not everyday of course. I eat more balanced now and enjoying the challenge.

Products used:
I purcgased two weeks free for $10. I did not order anything the company needed to ship nor did I need a refund. Cancelation was easy. I decided to use the free app because I learned a lot in the two weeks and was used to recording my food intake
