OfferUp has a rating of 1.4 stars from 863 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about OfferUp most frequently mention customer service, phone number, and credit card problems. OfferUp ranks 754th among Marketplace sites.
I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site
After many months of purchases and sales, and only perfect five star reviews, Offer-Up sent a notice that my account was being immediately and permanently deactivated for "breaking guidelines or community standards." No further explanation and no reply to my further inquiries and appeals except that the site reserves the right to permanently terminate accounts without warning if someone "breaks guidelines or community standards." Absolutely no idea what I did and they will not tell me. Lost a lot of time and effort and transactions in progress. Heed everyone's warnings: DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
All I got was messages asking if I still had the item. Nobody responded after I responded. So, what's the deal? Are people just bored and use this to screw around?
It is so annoying when I try to contact a seller and get no reply. I notify offer up bu they will not remove the ad or do anything at all. I have emIled them and they do nothing.
They took my money for a vehicle they stopped responding to texts once they had received all of my damn money! And they won't respond back to any of my repeated emails afterwards!
Tip for consumers:
I don't know what to say at this point!

I have never been paid for the items I sold because of offer ups policy! I have tried numerous times to get assistance and have not been contacted. I shipped my sold item over two months ago with no payment from offer up. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP TO ANYONE!
Every time I respond to an add they never respond back why put it out there if you aren't going to follow threw very annoying about to delete this app.
I have been put on to this site several months ago and I've been selling well ever since. I believe I'm a very trusted user on this site because 1. I use my own profile pic 2. My first name. And because I sell my stuff at very reasonable prices and don't scam others. After all the bad reviews I've read about this site, people should honestly learn how to establish some kind of trust with the people they plan on buying from, it's common sense. You should be able to identify if the person is a legit seller, profile pic and name and all, and THOROUGHLY read the description of the thing they are selling. If they give little to no details about themselves or the items, why would you risk it? Even though the person is selling at a really cheap or low price? It is kind of a bust when some people waste my time where they spam my stuff with offers and then never reply back. But I have been successfully selling MANY of my items ANYWAYS. What I hate the most when I'm selling my stuff on here, is that people offer at such low, low unreasonable prices. Here's my philosophy: "I don't care how much you want it for, I care about how much I PAID for it."
I I have never dealt with so many stupid people, I post a picture, condition of item, size, if it is for child or adult, I do not hold items, I do not ship items or deliver items, the price and if it is firm or negotiable and finally the location and area I meet. People do not read they just look at a picture and say I won't and then they start asking questions that can easily be answered if they would just take the time to read. The other thing is people will comment first I won't and then look on the very first line and see my location and just stop responding back. Could they just not take the time and say sorry you're too far away but thank you. I have had people want something for nothing. A brand new pair of Timberland boots I posted for $80 I had more than 10 responses asking if they could have them for $25-30. You can report them as scammers or block them they just use a different name and get right back on there. I have been cursed out, harassed etc. Because I will not hand deliver something, donate, drive 1 hour one way, take a EBT card etc. This site is not managed well at all. Not worth the time and trouble dealing with stupid people.

Offer Up is racist really racist
I was trying to log into my Offer Up account but I couldn't for weeks so I emailed them and asked them what the issue was they asked me my name and is soon as they found out I was Latino they did not want anything to do with me I couldn't believe what I was here reading is it just me or does this happen to other people as well block me blocked my email blocked my phone number everything that had to do with my name. Yes I want the world to know the real truth about Offer Up they don't care about anything to do with you they just want you selling and if you're not selling your not gonna stay on there that's their philosophy the shame that we live in a world like this they pick a Dollar over a human. If anybody has any questions for me please feel free to contact me I have no problem showing the emails between OfferUp and myself
Sellers beware. They will take your site offline when they thing you have violated there policies. No explanation or return emails. Facebook Marketplace or Ebay is where I sell. This site is no good.
I have made 9 offers to 9 different customers over a 1 week time span, several messages to each. I have not gotten one single response. This can not be a coincidence! The site is at fault!
A month of having nice items on there at good prices and I'm lucky to get a few views a week. I think I'm ready to delete my listings and the app, too. What a dead end!
I hope the folks who started LetGo realize their mistake because since they were absorbed by OfferUp, everything that was positive about selling my items has all but disappeared. This has to be the worst selling site yet. I've had more scammers trying to get my items than legit folks, and as time has gone by, I'm seeing and hearing NOTHING positive about the site. I was stupid enough to think it would be better than Craigslist, mainly due to more what I thought would be more exposure of my items to more buyers, and less monitoring of my ad than Craigslist. Turns out I was dead wrong. You can't simply remove your items because you just don't want to feature them on the site any longer, they only give you the option of sold or not sold; which creates an illusion that they are helping you sell your items. As well, the reviews stating that customer service is horrible are right on queue. I will soon be deleting my profile and posting my items elsewhere. I refuse to be seen as a scammer or a ripoff artist. I have items posted for giveaway and can't get anyone to take them. They look but that's all. My last response for an item I posted for sale was from someone who was out to get my item for nothing, and I got no help from OfferUp.
Tip for consumers:
Find another site.

I got scammed by a creep on offerup, so I reported it. They told me they'll take care of it. All they did was to block me from contacting him and his ad remains there to this day.
Tip for consumers:
If it looks to good to be true, it is.

Tried to buy a computer but it was a scam I got nothing.
People say yes, they want the product you are selling then do not show or even send message they pass. I wasn't raised like this. They also want stuff so cheap that I would rather donate my stuff!
I put in several offers on items after learning the site existed. 3 sellers never even bothered to respond to the offer, good or bad. 1 seller accepted my offer on an item not commonly found. My card was charged. After 2 days OfferUp sent seller a reminder to ship my item. A few days later the seller provided a tracking number which apparently, according to USPS, was generated the day he accepted my offer. After a week of me checking USPS with the package not being shipped, I sent the seller a message. His response was that he asked someone else to ship but she flaked and that he'd ship it out first thing. Tonight I get a message from OfferUp, not the seller, that the purchase was canceled and they would be refunding my money because of an issue with the item. The seller never contacted me to tell me what the issue was. The site did not allow me to provide seller feedback because the sale was canceled. Shortly after getting the message from OfferUp, the item was relisted. After getting the cancellation message, I searched reviews of the site. If I had seen any of them, I would not have joined the site. Do yourself a favor and search for reviews before buying or selling on OfferUp. Stick to platforms with a proven track record of having quality buyers and sellers. It seems to attract a host of scammers and criminals. I'm sure there are good buyers and sellers on the site but they are not easy to find amongst those that are after a quick buck at your expense or safety.
Horrible results. Paid for boosting a post and it got nothing. I mean nothing. It didn't meet not even a quarter of views they mentioned it would reach by paying
When trying to communicate with a potential buyer or seller if you include your phone number a WARNING message pops up (offerup calls it a "safety tip") to wit: sharing contact information with strangers can be unsafe. We recommend keeping communications within the offerup messaging system. WTF? Offerup cannot track what people are doing if they speak or text on cell phones. ALSO: this allows dweebs to hide - you don't know who yer dealing with, rapist, robber, etc
I'm SHOCKED that some in the financial industry are giving offerup the thumbs up.
PERFECT SITE FOR LAME LONELY DWEEBS TO SUCK YOU INTO ENDLESS EMAILS AND OFFERUP SPYING ON YOU THRU FACEBOOK, TWITTER ETC
The buyer has had an Apple Watch that I sold them for 48 hours in other words for FREE! I still have not gotten paid! I NEED MY MONEY! DONT EVER USE THIS APP, IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE A DAMN NUMBER TO CALL! ITS RIDICULOUSE!
I don't think I'll use OfferUp ever again. I sent a message to OfferUp about a seller who clearly scammed me and when I asked for a refund he kept putting it off. Most sellers on OfferUp are not honest, I'd rather buy something new for more than have to deal with people like this. It doesn't help when OfferUp has no way of helping when it is a local pickup and the person can just delete their account and everything is erased when they give you an item that isn't what it claims to be. I even gave OfferUp his address and still haven't heard anything back from them. I just wish there was a way OfferUp could Bill the person who had scammed you if you knew the address of the person especially if they are verified by payment and everything else. There needs to be a way to ship the item back to that address of the person if OfferUp charged their card or something. If this were ever possible I would continue using OfferUp only because I know I'd have actual confirmation if I was ever done wrong through the app and if I provided evidence.
I found a Krups BeerTender from a seller named Shelly C. In Utah. I purchased the BeerTender based on the "Reconditioned/Certified hook.
I get the unit a few days later and the tap handle was broken off and there was a brown mess in the bottom. When I plugged it in, it did not work.
I contacted Shelly and was IMMEDIATELY bombarded with hostile messages saying I was a thief and I would not get away with it!
I contacted OfferUp and asked for buyer protection and received it!
So where is my problem? OfferUp is protecting this spawn of Satan from my warning others about her deceitful behavior.
This witch accused me of being a thief and this is my way of getting at least a few ounces from my pound of flesh.
I have deactivated my account at OfferUp effective immediately.
I sold an expensive puffer coat 225.00 retail with tags attached and the buyer said I sent a different item. Offer up granted BRIAN LOWKS profile name (Richie BARRAGON
PO Box 12 National City, CA ******* on shipping label) a refund and this jerk sent me an old vest in the mail and now I'm out of my money and I have no coat to sell! I didn't think Offer up would allow a refund but the buyer is the ONLY ONE WITH PROTECTION. I will NEVER SHIP ANOTHER ITEM ON THIS TRASHY WEBSITE! SELLERS BEWARE OF SHIPPING CAUSE YOU HAVE ZERO PROTECTION FROM ANY FRAUD LIKE I ENCOUNTERED. All I got was an automated email stating that someone will reach out to me but that was days ago.
I was falsely accused of trying to sell illegal drugs and marijuana I had some help Lucian that I tried to sell and they took away my rights three years ago and I have been trying to get them to tell me why they took me off but if you go on their website you see tons and tons of people selling CBD and hemp that is not marijuana but they will not allow me back on their site I am A Christian and I do not believe in taking illegal drugs much less selling them please do not sign up on this business and be very careful of buying products from people because the owners will not back you up
They are as bad as Craigslist and don't care about seller or buyer satisfaction. Before the merger with Letgo they were fine but now it's garbage. I've sent them a letter to give helpful feedback on how to improve the user experience--no reply. They remove my profile and over two hundred of my posts for no known reason. Had to search high and low for a way to contact them since they don't make that info readily available and clearly don't want to provide any customer service. They restored my profile but brought back all of my SOLD listings, not the hundreds that went missing. Morons! I wrote back to beg for my ads to be brought back and restored even more of my already archived listings, then refused to reply to further email requests for them to correct the error. And just today it has happened AGAIN! My profile and listings, poof! Gone. Just sent them another email (FYI: *******@offerup.com)
At this point it seems obvious that OfferUp has gone to crap and exist now just to rake in shipping and ad revenue, and not provide any help with their awful platform issues. I had invested so many hours as a private seller putting hundreds of items on their site and they're all gone (actually 4 out of over 200 are left--whoopee). Most likely I won't waste any more of my time posting on OfferUp nor would I recommend it to anyone ever again. They are really THE WORST. I plan to find another site to sell my items. Wish me luck! (Advice/suggestions welcomed.)
Tip for consumers:
Review is from my perspective as a seller with 5-star rating on OfferUp and high buyer satisfaction.
I live in Los Angeles and was trying to sell some phones I got from a dealer who needed to make room, I failed to sell for 5 weeks on letgo and CL but finally got a buyer who did low ball me to four fifths what I wanted but I sold them for a profit, I love this app!
