I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site
After many months of purchases and sales, and only perfect five star reviews, Offer-Up sent a notice that my account was being immediately and permanently deactivated for "breaking guidelines or community standards." No further explanation and no reply to my further inquiries and appeals except that the site reserves the right to permanently terminate accounts without warning if someone "breaks guidelines or community standards." Absolutely no idea what I did and they will not tell me. Lost a lot of time and effort and transactions in progress. Heed everyone's warnings: DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
I AM POWER SELLER ON OFFERUP BEEN SELLING OVER 5 YEARS AND I HAVE SOLD OVER 500 ITEMS ON THIS SITE. BUT I WILL NEVER SHIP AGAIN I TRIED A FEW TIMES AND MY ITEMS WAS COMPROMISED MORE THAN I WAS PAID. THE COSTOMER WILL GET YOUR ITEM FILE A BUYERS PROTECTION CLAIM AND STATING THAT THE ITEMS IS NOT THE DESCRIBE ITEM AND OFFERUP GOES WITH THEY WORD NO MATTER. WELL I HAVE QUITE A FEW EMPTY BOX AND OLD TRASH BACK AND OFFERUP GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS AND CLOSE THE CASE AND NOTHING YOU CAN DO THEY KEEP YOUR ITEMS AND MONEY!
Terrible customer service, don't have any phone number for contact them, they don't have policy for counterfeit item, so you don't have any protection about counterfeit item.
You register your credit card with offer-up to use for payment. After you confirm a purchase everyone ask for zelle, venmo or any other unprotected payment.

Offer up is trash
Offer up has turned to garbage. I have a stellar rating and have all the badges you can get. Not even one bad rating. So why is it that the last 3 months none of my items that are priced above $80 show up in searches? Neither vauge, keyword, or verbatim title or brand name searches. But
Show in the app dashboard the item as having been viewed by buyers? If it was a bug it wouldn't show fake view count... I believe it's a devious manipulation of successful sellers that become somewhat dependant on the app. By lowering our success rate they hope to coerce us into purchasing advertising services. It is dishonest, unethical, and and very disrespectful and goes completely against their only claimed advertised service. I have never used their shipping or deceived a buyer. I have tried to contact customer service 2 or 3 times total in 5 years with no reply whatsoever. I only offer quality items in great condition for very reasonable prices. Their customer care is non existent and apparently if yoy make decent sales they manipulate the user into paying for services by not posting their items even though they specifically show it as being browsed when their is no possible way it was. Taking advantage of people that rely on this type of marketplace is unacceptable.

Posting items for sale.
I bought a vhs for 10 dollars from someone called lilo and stitch. I get it in the mail its a counterfeit and says Milo and stitch on the vhs. I write the seller he says he thought it was a misprint he bought it from a garage sale he noticed it and he will refund. So I contact offer up to see what we do next and I get a run around. Instead of confirming this issue through messages which seller knew about he asked for a photo. So I take a photo of where it says milo and stitch and shows a sticker on it showing its counterfeit. So he wrote back next day saying need a image of packaging too. Really? Is the image of i saying milo and stitch on a printed sticker on the vhs not enough? What about the seller knowing this before sending? Not enough? Just look at my messages im not lying the seller noticed it to he just didnt realize what it was. So I disputed with my bank and closing my account. If I cant get help on a 10 dollar item I would not buy anything of value on here. Never use this site again.
Pretty much everything I've had to sell was on OfferUp. I've only had about four sales so far but, they all where on OfferUp and Craigslist together with getting more viewers here!
I like how offerup takes diwn my posts but leaves others up who are saling live fish and knifes and food. Find it really unfair that they call me out on stuff i didnt know you cant sale. And when i look at the terms and conditings of what you can and cant sale i see people who sale the same things and yet thier posts are still up for months. Hey offer up if your going to call one person on their post at least have the comon desincey to look around and see who else is posting $#*! you say arent allowed.
I was charged for one year membership on an account that I never set up and customer service was rude and not helpful. They admitted it was for an account that I didnt have and refused ro refund me any money even though I will not be staying for a year. DO NOT USE THIS ACCOUNT!
Offer Up Does a poor Job of Looking out for people who are honestly attempting to sale Things, They Let folks manipulate The sellers and then They will prevent sellers for responding To Provocative People that's only out to harasse the sellers
Tip for consumers:

I bought Sephora's Cosmetic from Jennifer in the city of Manteca, when I sent a message to Jennifer to tell her that if she had more products she told me that in Offer Up all the sale is final and that she was taking a bath. I told her I would wait for her until she finished bathing and then she was more rude and threatened me and told me that if I did not leave her home she would call the police, she reported me and I reported her but William an Offer Up worker took me out of Offer Up and I can not buy or sell anymore but Jennifer can still sell on Offer Up because she did not get it out of the page, I have evidence of how rude Jennifer was with me and William just tells me that everything is under investigation, I'm very angry because they are not the same with everyone.
Don't buy from Nationwide it's asking to get scammed, you pay the seller & he doesn't respond & the customer support is pathetic, you don't even get your money back.
1) 90% of the users are scammers
2) 8% of the users are flakes (when you ask questions, they don't respond, when a deal is made they back out, or if you meet them in person its the wrong product or not as described - i. E. "new")
3) The remining 2% of sellers are legitimate but not nearby (when it comes to make a purchase, the App does not work as at checkout it asks to scan my credit card with the OfferUp App, which freezes - I tried 3 different credit cards and 1 debit card). Other users have complained about the OfferUp Credit Scanner not working.
4) Poor customer service (when you call their customer service line, you cant get a hold of a live person or leave a message). When you use the OfferUp App to get help, you receive an email about 4 days later with "links" to their help section on their help webpage which does not have any solutions. When you respond to their email, their customer support will send you a Bot email to the same useless links.
5) The OfferUp App is slow, large in size, almost 270 Mb, uses up RAM, and a battery waster for phones!
* In summary, this App is a waste of time, not safe, and one cannot make a purchase through their App. Don't waste your time!

Offer Up is not the app for shipping nationwide
I have been selling on offer up for a few years. I was excited about their decision to offer shipping and gain more customers around the country. I have tried three times to give offer up the benefit of the doubt but I must say they are failing miserably. I wait my 7 days after customer received the item and still do not get paid. I email support where I get the first canned response, then the second canned response forwarding my issue to the appropriate department, then the 3rd response from someone claiming to have corrected the internal issue and to expect my deposit in 3-5 more business days, blah blah. I respond back that I think they should expedite my payment due to their issue. I then get an email stating I can pay for expedited deposit on the next sale. Just ridiculous. That does nothing for me now and how rude to act as though I am ok with their "so called" customer resolution. I changed all my offers to exclude the option to ship Nationwide. It should not take 2-3 weeks to get paid. I get paid from Poshmark and Mercari within a week after shipping my items. Offer Up is not ramped up to provide this service.
I will try to make this as quick and concise as possible. I am 60 years old and I have done a lot of trading in my life and selling of automobiles and other garage type items. OfferUp tries to sell you on this idea of meeting people at agreed-upon locations, however I come from a Time and I don't think this ever changes when you like to see how a person and where a person lives for the feeling of security that you know where the item came from and they are happy to have you come out and they have nothing to hide just as I would welcome a buyer into my home anytime. I do not see how people could not come to the same conclusion is myself that it just seems so dubious, questionable, and highly suspect that you are going to meet in the parking lot of a Dunkin Donuts and exchange money and not know a thing about this person. And they could try to make it seem like the true you program they have going is just so magnificent. It's stupid and easy for people to lie and dr. Up. I was telling a hockey jersey that was a Stanley Cup jersey I met the man in Long Beach California and he grabbed the Jersey push me down and ran and OfferUp will tell you what did you tell the police did you tell us did you know the man? Of course not you wouldn't let me get his phone number or arrange to meet him at his house or him at mine. Bad bad idea and they'll try to sell you on some kind of crazy thing that I think they explained to me that well you know with robocalls and everything and people getting your phone number they could get your identity in your credit... that's not true
Offerup's Buyer Protection more like buyer beware. This company ghosts you when your scammed, filing a report, and/or a claim for the so called "Buyer Protection". Big like Ebay or Amazon! LMAO. They don't even have any customer service number and neglets its customers. Site looks like a bunch overpriced junk for sale and a sece pool for the lowest of LOWBALLERS. All I gotta say is that "I gotta go to the bathroom and give birth to an Offerup.com CEO!" Ebay or amazon does particpate in illegal, immorral, and unethic business practices like this company. This experience has reassured me that big corporations are king even if they cost a little more.
I had started alittle business on offer up everything was good and all of a sudden I was removed from offer up for no reason at all and no answers when I email it sucks
Not sure why the bad reviews, this is like parking you car on the side of the road with a FOR SALE sign on the window, you get good people with good offers and then you will get people with bad offers, and definitely you will get people who are nothing but IDIOTS with stupid offers, well I just learn to ignore them and keep on selling/buying, there are some scammers either trying to get your item or sell you theirs,, I always meet in public and only do cash transactions, nothing over 100-200 cause you never know, Aaaah and don't forget them crackheads that like to buy stuff in the middle of the of the morning like 1, 2, 3, 4 of the morning who got nothing to do and really don't have any money to buy, they just want to know if your item is still for sale... but other than that, I have never got any emails from any one else, like some claim, haven't need to contact c. S for anything, what the hell do I need them for? This is like a flea market, your an adult and you make your own deals, if you get burn,,, that's your own fault.,, this is buyer and seller beware and at your own risk kind of deal...
Tip for consumers:
just beware, have patinece, there will always be dumb people, so don't hate this site, just cause they come out..
OfferUp has a lot of fake "Potential buyers". There are a lot of fake views after I upload my selling item. The fake potential buyers often ask the price and never respond your answer.
I posted up my 1999 mitsubishi 3000gt sl for sale. The first time I had a free vehicle listing so I had listed it up for free. Then immediately after I listed my car I got a notice saying my post went against the rules for some odd reason. So I figured it was a computer error or something... So I did it all over again but this time I had to pay $7 fee to list my car. As soon as I paid and listed it my account got removed completely and a notice was sent to me saying they banned me and removed my account permanently. I have no idea what for and I have no idea why my car goes against their rules. I did everything accordingly and posted it 100% accurately. It's a huge headache and a waste of time. I like CL 10x better because CL is not full of pointless headaches like offerup is. Constantly sending me spam emails, no sales ever, just a bunch of bull crap! Take my advice and stick to CL. Even fb marketplace is better then this offer up. Offer up is by far the worst way you can try to sell anything. Don't use them!
The TruYou option on OfferUp is a joke. I ordered a MacBook Pro at a fairly good price which I was already suspicious about to begin with, however, the user had 5 stars (80) and was a TruYou member. So I paid a majority of the sum through OfferUp and some through Cash App in order to show I was a serious buyer. Big mistake in the first place was to agree to that and not a mistake I'd normally make. A woman with the seller name, iShipONLY, and the Cash App ID Margarita Taylor ($margaritataylor62) told me to message her if I had questions. The following morning I woke up to ask her a question and her account was deactivated and is still deactivated with no way to contact person. I obviously got scammed. Buyers beware. Do not trust the TruYou reserved ranking of sellers on OfferUp. Below is proof in photos including the original image on her Cash App page.
We actually really liked Offerup. It was a great service and we were able to buy and sell a lot of thing. My husband built up some great reviews (5 star w/ abtou 40-50 reviews). There was one incident during the holidays where we sold a recently purchased record player to a woman. I still had the receipt from Best Buy and it was in perfect working condition. The woman reached out during a week time period in which we were in rural Montana and completely out of reach. She threw a significant fit and called us scammers and was so incredibly offense in her responses because it wasn't working. I get that it was emotional and she was frustrated but we literally did not get her messages because this was during the holidays and we were offline. When we finally got back online and back to California, we tried to reach out to her to give her a refund she had blocked us and apparently had offerup block us. I reached out to them SEVERAL times as well as her to resolve and explain the situation and offer a full refund but nothing. Offerup would not respond or even open back up the account even with all of our 5 star reviews. I understand how the misunderstanding happened but Offerup won't even respond... even to help us make things right. I don't think they're a 1 star actual product because they were fine as a product but terrible for service.
When you try to report it they block you. But it is not safe at all to buy in offer up. Do not buy anything from offer up there are a lot of scammers not a safe place to buy. Becareful
