I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site
After many months of purchases and sales, and only perfect five star reviews, Offer-Up sent a notice that my account was being immediately and permanently deactivated for "breaking guidelines or community standards." No further explanation and no reply to my further inquiries and appeals except that the site reserves the right to permanently terminate accounts without warning if someone "breaks guidelines or community standards." Absolutely no idea what I did and they will not tell me. Lost a lot of time and effort and transactions in progress. Heed everyone's warnings: DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
I can make and offer and have it accepted. I then get no response when I ask when and where to pick up the item. I need a commercial mower for my business and have had my time wasted by three different sellers in the last two weeks. I do not understand why you would go through the process of listing an item and negotiating a price only to flake on the the actual sale. Very Frustrating!
Numerous times the seller has sold item to someone else. After I had already communicated the complete sale. Offered what they wanted. They provided me there cell number. Just waiting for address. They sold it to someone else. OfferUp does nothing or will not even contact you. BS
Will not be recommending or using offer up again. I sent a $15 item to the "buyer" after the item was bought with a tracking number outside the app. The buyer received the item per the tracking number and communication through the app, but since I didn't use the tracking number provided by offerup, the sale was cancelled. I tried to contact the seller asking if they could send me a Venmo for the item, she did not answer and therefore I lost out on $15 and the item I had for sale. The customer service could do nothing about it and I was SOL essentially. A lot of other competitors offer buyer protection which I will be suggesting to others and using going forward.
OfferUp kicked me off of my account and refused to tell me why. They are costing me money because that platform is where I did get most of my business. This should not be allowed. It's discrimination and I want to sue them for it. There has got to be a lawyer willing to take this case. Merge it with others. Something. This isn't right
Horrible company with bad customer service.my account got blocked after I respond to Rude racist customer. Someone was bullying me and they did not like my response so they block my account. When you send them an email you get a generic email back that they can do whatever they want without asking you.
I live in a rural area and am interested in purchasing a used washing machine... I was very excited to find the offer up app and see many used washing machines in my immediate area... So I responded to several of the listing using the ASK function and had one response out of five... and that response took 3 days for the party to say YES when I asked if the item was still available... I quickly responded asking the party if we could set something up so I could look at the products she was interested in selling (washer/dryer combo)... Never heard from her again... and the other four listings i inquired about never responded period... So I am baffled as to why people would list stuff and make no effort to sell... Another thing I noticed is that I will see stuff listed with a SOLD sign next to it... Who cares if something is sold it is gone... period... Craigs List is much more professional and I have had decent success using this website... Regards... VSR
On or about September 2,2023, I purchased a modem from the website Offerup. When the modem came, it was discovered by Comcast that it was stolen. When I reached out to Offerup, I was told that I did not dispute the claim on time and due to their policy there was nothing that could be done. I even contacted the seller and they read the message with no response. I disputed the information with the bank. Several weeks later, the charge was reversed.
Site totally sucks. Offer up will kick you off for no reason what so ever. 90 sales 5 star review still got kicked off lol? Offer up do not rely on this shady $#*! site for anything. There is no customer service I tried for a week no response. I have 5 stars and 90 sales. I would rate offer up site a negative 10. Stay Away Every Other Site Is Way Better AnyWays. Just makes me disappointed offer up closed my account for no reason at all?
I sent a buyer the items she purchased in one package to avoid wasting materials, box, packaging... and bc I didn't print and use a label for each item, offer up cancelled the sale even though the buyer received the items & now I am out $600! I needed that money to buy groceries/food... this is a nightmare and they do not care, will not help you!
Ads are left up for over a year and are no longer relevant. Filtering for "local pick up only" and "within 30 miles of your current location" results in search hits hundreds of miles away. For some items this might be fine but other items a consumer might want to inspect prior to purchasing. Given that the ads never expire and may be hundreds of miles from your location there are other more reliable sites that offer a better consumer experience. Someone pull the plug on OfferUp's server.
At one time OfferUp was nice. It was just neighbors buying and selling used items they didn't need anything more. Now it's full of retailers like Amazon and Wayfair bombarding the app with new and expensive items flooding out the person that just wants to sell their item at a low price. My solution... I just donated my nice couch to The Salvation Army instead of dealing with the BS on Offer Up.
I mostly sell on here, new things I try to flip so it's good quality stuff. Like other's on here mentioned, I price stuff very reasonably so I don't have to haggle. I put "firm price" in and I also include "PRICE IS FIRM" in the description. Yet, I still get people messaging me what is the lowest I'll take or just a ridiculous offer.
Also, buyers flake out way to much. They don't show or will commit to buy and you ask them when where they want to meet and you don't hear from them. They also ask you to deliver a lot, and this is after they committed to buy, so the deal always falls through. One buyer wanted me to deliver a video game I sold for $4 which would have been a 80 mile round trip.
There's just so much rudeness on this site, and it's carrying over to eBay unfortunately.
I'm browsing and see a lot of things i like but they have "sold" on them whey not take them off so legitimate items have a fair shot of being seen. It's like that with a few other sites as well. Why can't or won't an item be deleted when it's no longer available so people like me don't waste time emailing and browsing through items that are no longer available.
Offerup is the worst selling app I've ever tried.
They won't allow you to list your phone number or email.
They are the worst place to advertise anything of some value like a vehicle because you won't get any serious replies even when you pay up the nose and promote.
Tip for consumers:
Beware of scammer
FORGET about customer Service if you have an issue. Their own instructions to request a refund do not show up where it tells you to go and click. Their support is less than Pathetic. I've had 2 good purchases where I picked up... BUT not worth anything for when you run into a problem... (and you WILL)... You'll find so many repetitive complaints if you google Complaints and reviews for Offerup.com. I recommend Highly for you to Not use Offer Up.
I use to love offer up and was on it several times through the day all day long seeing what's new. But for some reason they decided to change the app after they got together with let go. It is a strong word I know but I Hate the new app so much I'm maybe on it 4 or 5 times a week now. Can't seam to find things easily anymore so I went back to Craigslist.
Tried to buy from a reputable seller. After purchasing, seller politely explained state of item didn't match description and suggested I cancel the purchase, apologizing.
Guidance on website on how to cancel the order as the buyer was incorrect and options presented did not match the guidance. Customer service is handled through Twitter posts and DMs. After asking to use my e-mail to finish the support request, customer service hasn't followed up about it.
Issue was resolved with the seller external of support.
Would not use website again knowing that site personnel intervention is non-existent in case of an issue. If you order, know how to dispute credit card charges in case there is an issue.
This site or app offers no way of posting items that you would like to sell unless you have an Android or IOS phone to install their app, and not everyone has one of those types of phones. I mean seriously why even build a website if you can't post items for sell on the website through your pc, it's just a big waste of time and I don't like having my time wasted. This is just my personal opinion but they could really improve there service if they offered a version for pc or even for windows phone, in conclusion if you must use this app use it at your own discretion as for me I'll just stick to Ebay or other sell and buy groups accordingly.
I was selling all my items on Letgo very successfully with no problems and meeting good honest people. Since OfferUp bought Letgo I've had nothing but scams, and people that just want to gain your email of phone numbers. Find someplace else to do your selling and buying. I mean who sells a $52,000 RV for $3,000 except on OfferUp?
Both times the seller told me to send them money through cash app before they delivered it, and both times I did not receive the item. The sellers on this website are not trustworthy so I would highly recommend buying from eBay instead.
I Was banned due to "unacceptable risk" whatever that means, I have already shipped several orders and never got paid for them
Do not use this company for buying or selling. They are terrible.
I cannot login and never got my $550.00 owed
Purchased a men's wallet on their platform through shipping method. When i got the wallet, immediately i know its counterfeit. I reported to offerup about it and a auto message tell me a offerup team member will get back to me. I waited and waited with no reply. I contacted them again and they finally reply back. I ask them about my claim i filed two weeks again and to my surprise they said i didn't filed a claim properly. What a shock! After few message exchange they said they can't do any about it. Guys, please stay away from buying through shipping because offerup is on the seller side because that's how they get a commission from the items they sell.
Stay away from this scam seller (picture).
I have 20 items for sale with not even an offer. On Facebook marketplace my items are sold within a day or two. Same thing on Letgo. OfferUp is a waste of time... hardly any views and no offers at all. I do get lots of weirdos asking for my phone number. Not a good site at all.
Offer up sucks. All they try to do is get you to pay to advertise your stuff in order to sell anything. On let go i sold tons of different stuff super fast all the time. That all changed when it got bought by offerup. Im deleting my offerup account. Its sucks and is a waste of time.
I have made (1) successful purchase through offerup. Trying to sort through all of the ads that were posted over 1 or 2 years ago or contacting sellers on an item that was sold but the post wasnt removed or marked as sold is just to frustrating and a waste of time. There should be a way that offerup could improve on this.
