I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site
After many months of purchases and sales, and only perfect five star reviews, Offer-Up sent a notice that my account was being immediately and permanently deactivated for "breaking guidelines or community standards." No further explanation and no reply to my further inquiries and appeals except that the site reserves the right to permanently terminate accounts without warning if someone "breaks guidelines or community standards." Absolutely no idea what I did and they will not tell me. Lost a lot of time and effort and transactions in progress. Heed everyone's warnings: DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
Will never use Offerup again, after dealing with three separate lying sellers and getting ZERO response from OfferUp. First was a pair of stools I purchased--seller said they were 24 inches high and they ended up being 30 inches high and broken inside. Another electric pot was shipped without a crucial part. A speaker came with the wrong cord. The people who sell on here are CRAZY and OfferUp literally has no customer service. Never again!
I've sold many things on Offerup with no issues, locally, I just did an out of town sale for the first time. Buyer paid within 30 seconds and I have to wait 12 days for my money to load on PayPal? I don't see how people steal money and not send the product. My product and money have been held hostage...
The website intro and rules read well and is actually inspiring, but the follow through is nonexistent.
I went on looking for an item, then read all that and registered to sell some, but can't even download the app. Keep getting a loop that says wait 5 minutes. It's been 2 days, and I can't even get a response from the support department.
The reviews are mixed. Maybe this is why?
There are a variety of items that seem reasonable, and it' s a local market, which can be good, but lots of car and bike parts, which is a red flag, but they're all over Craigslist as well.
I'm already walking away because if I can't get a reply to a basic error message to finish setting up my account, what's the rest going to be like? If I download the app, are they going to want access to all of my private contacts etc like everyone else?
No thanks!
At least Craigslist works and is easy to use.
At least Craigslist is easy to set up...
I purchased an item that never shipped. Per offerUps protection policy my money should be refunded by 3 days of them not shipping. It's been 6 days. Haven't heard a thing. Can't contact them, no phone number, no email. I'm highly upset
Do not like that im being restricted for selling items outside of offer up i cant even upload a Profile picture, they dont want customers to see my face or what, profile asked for pic an it wont let me, Why, over it i will delete this site soon
No serious buyers, full of scammers. Most ask for your phone# to steal it for google voice or something. Offerup's canned responses shows they really don't care about anything besides making money and scamming us too.
Why is using offer up so difficult? I buy and sell many things weekly on craigslist, not one single issue in MANY YEARS. Your site is very user unfriendly. Nothing seems to work. I'm quiting before it costs me $$, like so,so,so many others out there
Everybody please do yourselves a favor. Don't even try

I ordered my first item, a laptop, on offerup and the seller almost immediately marked it as shipped and added the tracking number. A day later, I check the tracking and it says pre-shipment, label created, usps waiting on package. So I check it again 5 days later. It still says the same thing, nothing has changed. I message the seller and I still haven't got a response back. So I look at where the package was sent from and call every post office in that city. None of them have received a package with my name on it. So I guessing this is some kind of new scam? All I know is I better get my money back because I'm poor af and I had to sell my phone to get the money for that laptop. I just really always wanted a laptop so I can do digital art and animation but it looks like my dreams are crushed.
The app itself is fine, but unfortunately it seems most people just use it to kill time. They make ridiculous offers and sometimes even have a conversation with you about meeting times and places and then just disappear off the face of the Earth. Unfortunately this has been nothing but a waste of time for me.
Ive sold various items but not without having to chase down buyers to show up. You see buyers have nothing to lose because there is no money exchanged until
You meet up with them. IF they show a lot of people renague on original price posted offering a fraction of what its posted for. Im not saying this is every single time but it seems to be the norm. I also notice that when I pay $1.99 to upgrade my items, I get an instant response from people that say I want to buy your item and I respond yes ok. Never to heard from again. Hmm a lil suspicious of you ask me. Anyway I wish there were some addition to this app enabling true sales from serious buyers.
I've attempted to purchase several things on this site the latest one being a boat from an alleged seller 30 miles from me allegedly in Tampa. The item had many pictures, was priced average. I messaged the person many times with each text showing he read them. Not one response back. No replies nothing. I even made an offer of his asking price with no response. The ad was only a few days old. This has happened a dozen times or more by alleged sellers when attempting to inquire or purchase, no respnse. The site does not remove items that have been sold. They do not block reported scammers. It's ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and don't bother using the site. Letgo has been much better.
Is every person on offer up a liar, disgrace of human being, waste time no regard for keeping their word, low ball offers, and dont meet up when they say they do, cant read, some of the dumbest most disrespectful scumbags on earth or its just fort lauderdale and miami trash?

I've never come across so many lowlifes in one place! These idiots expect you to GIVE your stuff away! You already offer at ridiculously low prices, and they offer you 10% of that! Are these people serious? I pay good money for the items I'm selling. If they're looking for charity they should try salvation army! Unbelievable.
As i genuinely try and sell... lets say a Bicycle on this site... i expect when someone is interested and messages me about it to follow up with a simple Yes Or No... just let me know you still alive, lmao
Anyway... they should change the name to Digital Age Hustlers Paradise! Or FollowUp, loser!
I had 38 5 gold stars been using for over a year. Had problems with scammers. People who harassed me. Waste my time. Loading issues. Can't respond, etc. And then all of a sudden, they close my account, delete and deactivate it? Wtf did I do? I sent them a email and they said support team would look into it? I emailed them, after email. My whole account vanished. Some things real fishy here. I'll go back to old faithful Craigslist. I just liked offer up so you could see who, and what rating of person your buying from. But oh well, everytime I buy or sell something people always said, you actually are the only one who kept there word and showed up and didn't bs. But there gonna keep scammers, and unknown people and delete someone with outstanding reviews. I will not be making another account. That's one less person using there app. Less money for them. I'll let them and idiots that continue using it use it.
They have deactivated my account twice and turned it back on once the past 3 days. They are saying I have multiple accounts and that's the reason so far! I have no idea why the account was deactivated again today because tech support still hasn't gotten back to me although I have emailed them several times already! I have been a member for 4 years now and over hundreds of 5 star ratings! These people should NOT have this much power over people's accounts. This is nerve wrecking to have your account deactivated especially during these dire times. If there is a class action lawsuit I'd like to join seriously. Not only am I losing on sales but over hundreds of followers and they are wondering what is going on with my account as well.
I was owed several payments for properties being sold. My balance kept getting lower and lower until down to zero. I photoed all emails and the chain of events that took place. Since there is no real service after repeated attempts. I contacted the better business bureau and the inspectors general's office to retrieve my funds. Waiting game no. I'm glad I saved the evidence and sent to both complaint depts. Not a trusted site. Don't sell valuables here. They state also no counterfeit items but yet it has many. I think this is just a one or two man show and not a real thriving app to sell. And lots of scamming.
The biggest problem is OfferUp's Support is near non-existant. I'm a power seller, meaning at any given time I have 500-1000 offers listed. I'm constantly having things taken down mistakenly. When you can get a response from Support, I've always had it reinstated. But it has often taken me 5 different emails to support just to get a response of any kind. Secondly, there is a hugh problem with fake buying accounts trying to get you to go to some other site or take communication off OfferUp. Lastly is the whole limitation of only being able to list offers from your phone? Why the hell would you do that? Its a shame because OfferUp really could be awesome. But it feels like it is just getting worse and worse.
I've asked about three items for sale on OfferUp. Two campers and one car. All three had their husbands recently passing away. All three were military doctors or a nurse. All three moved away and had to use eBay to deliver. None were in the same place nor had the same name. Coincidence? I tried to report but could find no contact information.
Avoid using this service. Stick to Ebay or other well established service.
Sold an item. Buyer tampered with it then files claim with offer up for defective item which they upheld these ppl are nothing but scsmmers!
The site does not seem to patrol itself or even care about what is going on. Lots of stuff posted by the same people over and over clogging up the site. I even found a car for sale from the same person in 10 different locations $10k under a normal price who would only accept email contacts. They need to step up the game like LetGo does you really don't see these problems there.
Listings are only visible for about a week then the system expects you to pay $1.99 and up to promote your item (cost prohibitive for small item multiunit sellers). Nationwide shipping charge is $5 minimum enough to deter small item sales from ever happening (usps first class rate is $2.66). Lots of tire kickers be they local or nationwide. I did a few sales in 5/2018 then everything stopped. The only way to get more action is to painstakingly relist all my items. Not fun, inefficient and not a workable business model.
So I recently joined Offerup as a buyer. I started noticing the really cheap offers go really fast and then the more expensive ones are on there forever. I also noticed that I could not see what the products actually sold for. Then I applied for a *free* hutch, and the seller waited 2 days to contact me back to tell me they had already SOLD it. I think this site has slick sellers who underprice their items, wait for bids to come in and then sell it to the highest "bidder". False advertising. I can't stand bidding wars; I have better things to do with my time than haggle over used junk. There are regular people who post things at the price they really think they deserve, and those ads stay up for months, if not a year. That's how I started putting this thing together.
Tried to buy a nintendo wii on offerup and even got as far as the seller accepting my offer and the payment going through. The next day I get an email saying my account was terminated for "violating community guidelines". Big surprise, I reviewed the guidelines and I of course did nothing to even come close to violating them. I used a legit account to buy something using a legit card connected to a legit bank. So when i emailed them about it, stressing that i did nothing wrong and that my money may be in the ether somewhere, they replied "Offerup reserves the right to remove profiles at its own discretion with or without previous warning or education efforts". Wow, thanks.
I'm still trying to email them, but it's clear they do not care about their customers at all and are very cowardly hiding behind an email instead of any actual phone number to call in order to solve things. Terrible company, don't even bother.
This site is absolutely the worst selling site I have ever used. I buy almost everything online for various companies. This site cost me $120. I sent back a defective product to the seller and not only did I not get my money back I was just simply blocked by the seller. I spent a lot of time sending emails to customer support they have no phone number to call and if you try and use their community advice it does not function because they don't want people talking to each other so they just tell you it's under construction. Not only was I out the money I spent for the product but I was out the $20 that I spent shipping it back to her. Truly the worst site or buying but probably good for selling as you'll never have to worry about refunding anybody's money.
