OfferUp has a rating of 1.4 stars from 863 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about OfferUp most frequently mention customer service, phone number, and credit card problems. OfferUp ranks 754th among Marketplace sites.
I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site
After many months of purchases and sales, and only perfect five star reviews, Offer-Up sent a notice that my account was being immediately and permanently deactivated for "breaking guidelines or community standards." No further explanation and no reply to my further inquiries and appeals except that the site reserves the right to permanently terminate accounts without warning if someone "breaks guidelines or community standards." Absolutely no idea what I did and they will not tell me. Lost a lot of time and effort and transactions in progress. Heed everyone's warnings: DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
When I tell you I have never seen an app as bad as this for buying and selling. Why they combined with letgo I couldn't tell you, it was much better as two seperate apps. I emailed them to ask a question since thats the only way to contact them, yep you heard that right NO PHONE NUMBER & NO LIVE CHAT. Insanity. Anyways they never answered my question but they did ban my account even though I did not post a single thing! Terrible way to sell things, if you want to sell items FB Marketplace and Mercari are the places to do it.
I am a new OfferUp buyer/seller.
All my postings keep getting removed (not duplicated postings) with no notice or explanation. It is hard to find a way to communicate with OfferUp because everything is automated. I finally found a back door way to send a contact message. When someone finally responded after 4 attempts and a week passed, he apologized and said it was a technical error. Then all my postings appeared again... but disappeared again 2 days later! Again I have sent 3 messages and days are passing by with no response. This is a very poor experience and I would not recommend OfferUp to anybody.
*Update*Turns out the "guy" I mentioned is just another automated response... I got the exact same message... my listings re-appeared BUT FOR ONLY 2 HOURS! Yep all my listings are gone again!
So I have sent many more messages to this robotic system over the last 4 weeks with no results!
No listings are up!
0 stars.
Ps. Meanwhile there are hundreds of duplicated and miscatorized listings in all sections of OfferUp. (See pic.)
I use search word "van" and gets tons of non-van listings and many many duplicates.
*Update* It took 5 weeks for them to send the same automated apology. My listing are up again. IDK for how long?

Google search this without the quotes - "onfido offerup".
They were caught selling the personal information [driver's licenses] of hundreds of thousands of people last year, and they sold the info without permission and didn't even mention it in their terms of service. This is personal information obviously. And it isn't email addresses or phone numbers which is also bad - this is the literal Driver's license photos that users are required to scan to be allowed to communicate and sell on there. They violated that trust and for profit put their users at risk of identity theft.
They deserve a ZERO for that alone.
The app/company itself, for the short term I used them, was atrocious. Their workers do not know their own policies and so you will find your ad pulled down and given no reason as to why, and when you finally get a reply after sending 10+ emails, it is something that their own policies do not mention but what the worker himself "thinks" should be done. So your ad is pulled but if you search for the same item - there are tens of thousands being sold in the local area and those ads are not touched and the account is not banned either.
This is a garbage company all around. I wish that I knew about them selling personal info before I signed up with them though, I found this out after the fact, and it bugs me knowing that this company will sell it and doesn't care if it harms me.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use it is my tip. Really, don't. As I said in my review and which can be verified by googling "offerup onfido" - they sell their users personal information - in this case, your driver's license information. Signing up means trusting this company and they proved they do not deserve that, so my tip is, do not even register with them. They want your ID and more to sell to 3rd party companies, don't fall for it.

I tried to sell on there, and the experience was absolutely miserable. Most of the people who will reply to a ad are scammers and bots. The customer service team are horrific, if not outright hostile, so it is not worth even trying to contact them.
If you look at the reviews it's 1.2 Stars I think it should be more like zero Stars and it's not the people using the site ultimately OfferUp should have a rating system that includes negative feedback just like eBay and other websites. Basically offer up is enabling these people to do whatever they want without any repercussions... the reason I am so irritated is that I personally wasted 2 hours driving somewhere and the people assured me that meet up would be no problem they never answered their messages and there is no accountability to hold them responsible for wasting my time my gas wear and tear on my car and just because of the fact they're so arrogant and inconsiderate. I have wasted enough time and learn my lesson that these fools don't deserve my business and I will go elsewhere and this is a warning to everyone else that is tolerating this nonsense don't kid yourself it will happen to you and until OfferUp proactively monitors and includes negative feedback this nonsense will continue... I can only hope that enough people read this and leave OfferUp and give their business to someone else like eBay or Amazon that deserves it and that once Integrity in their website. I urge a boycott of OfferUp to give them negative publicity and force them to act..
How STUPID! No computers allowed! Why would I want to screw around posting with a stupid cell phone when I have a huge computer screen? That must be why most post are crap.
Sellers don't respond or flake out when the deal is done and it's time to meet. OfferUp doesn't do anything when you complain. There's no consequences or repercussions for bad and fraudulent sellers.
Loyal fan of OfferUp.com. Quick and easy way to declutter and make yourself some cash. As with any site as this use your common sense. Have a public meeting place and stay safe.
Absolutely no policing of scam listings. Unable to leave feedback unless a transaction is completed. Meaning, I could message someone, make a deal, and drive 30 minutes to meet them. Wait 20 minutes for them to show. Then, they can message me to just forget the deal. It's off, and I CANNOT LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR THIS. So, the next guy gets screwed as well because I can't leave negative feedback in this scenario. The report an issue is worthless because nothing is ever followed up on by Offer Up. Listings are years old and absolutely worthless because the item was either sold elsewhere, the seller is a flake and totally forgot that they even listed it, or it's stupidly high priced which is why it will never sell and it's just taking up space on the site and I have to see the listing always even though it's a wasted listing. Scam ads run rampant and try to scam everyone. LetGo was much better! Force listings to renew listings at 30 days like LetGo did. Get rid of scam listings selling $******* items for 400 bucks. Allow feedback and penalize the scum that get blocked by 5 or more people regardless of their star rating. Clearly they are scum if 5+ people block them after messaging alone! Total crap.
Its been 2 months and you have not deposited my money. My bank is correct. I will report this to the BBB and I'm going to file a complaint with the attorney's general's office.

Hello.
I'm terribly sorry to bother you with this, but I need to know. Your logo is now a rainbow. I'm a disabled navy vet. You didn't change your logo for memorial day or veterans day. I'm catholic. You don't put Christian logo's up. I'm German and English. You don't put up German or British flag logo's.
So why do you only put up the rainbow logo? I realize it's pride month. As a white, Christian Catholic, a straight man, and military veteran, the rainbow flag Logo offends me. I have put plenty of money in your pockets over the past several years, but apparently I offered you. I'm disappointed that my values and opinions mean little to nothing to you.
I guess you're " Woke " now, and only care about what's popular at the moment. I sell on here because my military disability is miniscule, and I try to make extra money to survive. I'm not on here to genuflect to your Woke causes.
There are thousands of items on here that offend me and plenty of others, yet you allow it, not to be Woke, but because you profit from it.
I'm disappointed in you, OfferUp.
Tip for consumers:
Stick with eBay, it's a pain, but much better and you can actually speak to customer service.

I sold on OfferUp. Terrible experience. Almost everything listing I placed, " offended " someone selling a similar item and my post was removed.
Used offerup and meet the person at the Greenwood mall every tho it was a busy place and a lot of people it still happened and their support team don't care here is the person that robbed me
There is no real way to connect with someone when you need help, just a list of FAQ's. No phone number at all. When using the shipping feature beware. OfferUp has changed the service fees several times since I originally listed an item. I sold a video game 8 months ago for $5, paid 10% listing fee. No problem, I knew there would be fees. During this same time I had listed another video game which recently sold and paid a service fee of $1.99! Sold something for $5, got $3.01. I thought it to be a mistake, so I had to trick the contact section about a refund (seeing I was trying to get a refund for some of the service fee). Brandon was my contact there, and he was not very understanding of my situation at all. Refused to refund me anything, pointed out TOS I had agreed to and that OfferUp can change service fees whenever they want without notifying anyone - although that's not exactly what it says in righting. It says in Section 3B regarding Seller Fees "OfferUp reserves the right to change the Service Fees from time to time." We're talking a buck fifty, and they won't budge. Very disappointed in their lack of customer service and support surrounding these issues. Seller beware of service fee changes. Ebay has the decency to keep you informed, OfferUp does not care. I asked for Brandon's supervisor name and contact info, but because I had mentioned legal action they refused to email/communicate anymore. So ridiculous.
So I was on offer up saw A guitar and made an offer, I apparently was to low because the seller reported me for offering fair market value and my account was disabled without warning, everytime I logged in I have to verify myself. It's just not worth the hassle, this app sucks soooooo bad, you get disabled just because a seller doesn't like your offer? Just Wow! AVOID AT ALL COSTS, sure there's deals but if you get blocked for making an offer what's the point anyway?
BEWARE OF SELLERS ON THIS SITE. I recently discovered a scam on there and OfferUp asked ME (I don't even shop on OfferUp, it was just a total chance thing) to go and report ALL 93 OF HIS POSTINGS. Like wtf, OfferUp, are you going to PAY ME to do that? Isn't that YOUR job to stop him once you've been made aware of illegal activity on your site? Give me a $#*!ing break. Hey, this is probably a great place to sell drugs, btw, clearly OU doesn't give a $#*! about what's going on on their platform.
I had a very good experience with this site I have sold over 100 items and had a good rating from the people who I had sold to and I still have a lot of items listed on this site but back in January I filed out their request for my information to meet the new federal law on income reporting when I did this I forgot my password and I haven't been able to get from them the reset link to reset my password I have over 20 request number from them with the same response we are aware of the problem and are working on it this is now may I have sent letter to the company with no response I just requested help from the Washington state attorney general office and I have just received a response from them that offer is not response to them so their is no help if you have a problem at this time I would recommend that you stay away from this company
I have a collectible Knights Templar sword I was told that it was dangerous and prohibited as I see machetes pocket knives as well as a gun on OfferUp as if those items are not dangerous and they have been posted for quite some time OfferUp has the worst support team if you even want to call it that and I was scammed from purchasing something from out of state so I posted the person and I got reprimanded from OfferUp stating inappropriate behavior so ridiculous
Do not purchase furniture on offer up. Remove legs from dining tables and chairs please! Bought one in Bakersfield CA. Roaches came from everywhere, BEWARE!

Omg I wish I knew your website... there customer service sucks. I bought a gaming system and I have yet to get all the pieces... offer up gives u 2 days only to review the seller
Now it is cluttered with many subcategories and ads, runs slowly, notifications don't work correctly. They need to go back to the simpler format they had. The app just plain sucks now...
I paid $45 for a bose speaker but they just shipped me a tic tac candy, becareful. I wish have a opportunity to send you a pic. I'm so upset about it.
Offerup is one of the worst web apps. It is infested with scammers and the people who run it are very incompetent at best. That used to be Craigslist's place but these people have taken their first place spot. STAY AWAY FROM OFFERUP IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SCAMMED.
This woman (Aurora Zapata) around 49 years old to 55 years old wanted to buy a dress from me. At first I didn't want to sell it anymore and wanted to use Poshmark instead (more professional and less risk) - but I decided to sell to her since she was so persistent. She looks like a size medium or large but wanted to buy a small. Out of kindness, I kept trying to tell her the dress may not fit her abd she is best going on fashion nova site and ordering directly. Any ways, she took my new perfume (meant for my son for his Christmas present) in the bathroom when she was trying on items. She seemed restless and uneasy. Any ways I found out within 15 min of her leaving and asked her to come back and return the items she stole. Of course she said no and blocked me. I filed a police report. I know I shouldn't have let her in but she was an old lady that drove a white hummer so I'm thinking it was fine. She is harmless. I sent her file to the police (I found her on FB and LinkedIn). I won't get my item back so oh well. Hopefully this story will help.
She lives in Aurora or Denver and works as a front desk lady at a small lower end hotel/motel.
I filed a report with Offerup too but I'm not sure what they ended up doing. Im not able to see her communication with me on the app any longer. Offerup asked for the police report info etc. However I'm not sure what happened with this investigation.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t use this site - use Poshmark instead.
Horrible Customer service. They do not care. Do not try this App please trust me! I told them I was going to Give them 1 star because of how they Treated me today and that is what I'm doing.
I bought to items at the same time that both flopped. I guess they changed there mined and offerup sent me a message that they were refunding me my money I've yet to see it
From 4 17 17 OfferUp is mistaken for being like Ebay! And it is NOT anything like Ebay. You yourself are responsible for your own safety and buying. Its a buy sell and trade app.
I use it daily and sell things all the time!
Don't buy things that you don't look over. Don't be afraid to tell someone NO! Or ask for more pictures.
The app is more like craigslist. I think its great and I will continue to use it as it intended. You can't expect a company to back up "garage sale" stuff sold by users ALL OVER THE USA. If you go to a garage sale you look things over before you buy them. You can't be ripped off if you use your head!
Upadte 7 14 18 And just like craigslist the company itself doesn't give a crap about you. Or loss of time or money. Read the reviews! The only way you'll have a great experience here is if you live in a city or community with honest people that show and have the decency to respond. And now they added shipping to their platform before even making the ability to post on the website. They claim to have buyer protection but ONLY on shipping items and who knows when you'll see the money returned. I think their priorities are all out of whack. They still haven't gotten good enough software to stop scammers, fraud posts and posts that they don't even allow!
OfferUp is revolutionizing how we sell by making it a snap! Instantly connect with buyers and sellers near you.
