I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad but as for me as a new user it is completely awesome a few flaws easy fixes but it is a site that gets your goods out there an legitimate buyers that responded an showed up not like letgo where in my experience they play games I am very impressed with the site and will tell everyone i no how my experience has been with the site

“Awful Experience”

Timmy R.
8/30/24

After many months of purchases and sales, and only perfect five star reviews, Offer-Up sent a notice that my account was being immediately and permanently deactivated for "breaking guidelines or community standards." No further explanation and no reply to my further inquiries and appeals except that the site reserves the right to permanently terminate accounts without warning if someone "breaks guidelines or community standards." Absolutely no idea what I did and they will not tell me. Lost a lot of time and effort and transactions in progress. Heed everyone's warnings: DO NOT USE THIS SITE.

Told them when they were " Let Go" website before merger, over and over about false scam car sales ads. Like 2019 Honda Accords with 50,000 miles on them, selling for $ 1200. 00. That $ 1200. 00 price was popular even for Bugattis. Somehow it was a favorite number scammers liked using. You could count on a car going for 1200. 00 and could only respond to their fake emails. And then they end up spamming your email, address. It was a "steal, spam your email and phone number scam" running on this sales site. Suspended me forever for explaining all of this to them. They took offense to it I guess. Love other more reliable sites better. You got to pay $ 5.00 to list on Craigslist. No scamming there. Lt costs creepy scammers too much. Lol. This place no better than them cheap FREE dating sites that pop up, all over the place. All day long where all you get is fake, try to take your money rob you, ads there too. Waste of time at BEST, that only want you to send them money over internet for. Nobody regulating them either except the scammers and thieves that run them. Careful about sites that are free. I never bought anything of this site, because I spotted the scams right away. Too smart of the type of customer they looking for. Lol. You pay a price one way of another. Or risk the consequences. It is what it is. Nothing in life is free. I have to write about myself sitejabber asks. I am a great and honest no B. S, kind of guy. Not easily fooled. Enemy of scammers.

Tip for consumers:
Don’t go to sites that only offer email address ONLY contact ( They are the kind that are unaccountable spammers like to use) and if you , do don’t give any critical info. Especially if the ( red flag) price is too good to be true and don’t tell anybody especially this company about it unless you want to be terminated. Good luck dreaming about a 2017 accord in perfect shape for 1200.00 though. Because you will ONLY find phi s h e r s posting them all day long has been my expierience. Lol.

Products used:
Didn’t use any products , sorry, because I didn’t buy any . A car was $ 1200.00 all day long and they wanted me to give them my personnal info for nothing jn return except spam and harrassment.

I used to love this app and literally bought everything in my home when I moved from the app. But now I'm really sick and tired of the people I have been coming in contact with on OfferUp lately. I used to deal with people who respected each other's time, but now they make offers and don't respond to follow up, they cancel offers at the last minute because they didn't read the entire description, they expect the Seller to make themselves available to their schedule, or they just don't show up to meetings. It's just people looking for cheap stuff who aren't willing to pay decent prices.

I also hate that the app allows people to post the same item several times in order to get exposure. People do this to avoid paying to promote their item. And I am sick of all the people who appear to be selling items as an individual, when really they are a business. They do the same thing and post the same items multiple times, to the point that people assume I own a shop/business. At this point, the app is just a bunch of ads.

Very seldom do sellers respond to your inquiries. Worst part when you make an offer or just accept the listed page price seller never accept or respond in order to finish the transaction.

IT SUCKS THAT I HAD TO EVEN GIVE THIS APP 1 STAR BECAUSE I WOULD'VE GIVEN NEGATIVE IF GIVEN THE CHANCE! NOT ONLY WAS MY FATHER IN LAW SCAMMED OUT OF 800.00 BUT I HAVE REPORTED THE ITEM AND PERSON SELLING AND SCAMMING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR MONEY AND THIS SITE HAS STILL DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY WON'T TAKE THE OFFERS DOWN WHICH LEADS MORE PEOPLE TO GETTING SCAMMED! I AM SO FRUSTRATED AT THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THIS COMPANY ITS RIDICULOUS. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PEOPLE USING YOUR APP, DELETE IT!

I sold an item on offerup valued $20. Brand new sealed in packaging. The buyer bought it for 8.00 and received it. Buyer messaged me telling me her dogs ate the package and ruined it. She requested a refund from offerup. Offerup gave her back her money and showed how the package was actually not ruined, it was still new in the package. I contacted offer up and got no response on how the buyer gets to keep the item and get the money back. OFFER UP HELPED THE BUYER STEAL FROM ME AND SCAMMED ME.

Tip for consumers:
They gave the buyer back their money because the dogs ate the package. It was a brand new sealed toy inflatable chair. I don’t get the item back or the money for it but the buyer lied and gets to keep the item in perfect condition. I got no reply from offer up regarding this. They helped the buyer steal from me when they should have forced them to return the item and let me inspect it before giving the refund. Offer up scammed me.

I had a truck for sell I listed it and added the premium to help sell it. I have sold the truck not by offer up. But I removed it on June 10th and then 3 days later I see a charge for the premium and when I questioned it I am told curtly no refund will be issued. I have to cancel a membership for premium that I did not have. But basically they told me to f off. Great company now I know why they will not provide a phone number only email for customer service. BE VERY CAREFUL USING THIS COMPANY. This is what they wrote

This is Fran from OfferUp Customer Support.

Please be informed that selling your promoted item does not mean the subscription will be canceled too. Promote Plus is a monthly subscription, and you've already pre-paid for the rest of the current billing cycle, there will not be a refund issued. You'll have to cancel the subscription in order for the monthly payments to stop.

Their auto-robot blocks you because it considers it "harassment" if you want to let a person know that their not marking their item sold wasted 45 minutes of your time as you researched an item that actually wasn't available. (Yeah, in any other century of human existence, that was called "holding someone accountable for their actions, or the lack thereof." But today, it's considered morally wrong to gently remind someone of good respectful online selling behavior that they are violating. Not to mention that God forbid a person should actually hold someone else morally accountable for their actions...) But then after the Offerup auto-robot blocks that message, it blocks any and every other message you want to send to any seller. Then there is no contact info or email to contact their customer support to get your account unblocked. Totally not worth the hassle. Use a different selling platform, folks. We don't need another big brother enforcing the extreme dysfunctionality of political correctness. Leave that to Facebook and Twitter.

I was a user of Offerup.com. I sold couches. I used their "Promotion Plus" option. They were quick to take my money and slow to post my item as a promotion. Not that that made a difference.
In my opinion, the "Promotional Plus" is a scam. All you get for the 19.99 a month is the word "promoted" pasted across your item's picture. It does not give you preferred placement, you are not at the top of the page. I had 2 couches that used Promote Plus and I couldn't find them on the site.
When I tried to contact Offerup I had to go to the "help" page. Good luck with that!
I wish I had read the reviews of "Offerup" before I had posted my products with them.
If you are going to post with Offerup, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use "Promotional Plus."
As I said, I believe it to be a scam, a way to get money out of the users of Offerup.

I have posted 2 pictures as proof of my claim. The first one is of the items I used "Promotional Plus" with. The second one is the first page of "Offerup" and as you can (or can't) see only one of my items has preferential placement. I can't find the other 2 items.

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT use anything Offerup wants you to pay for.

The "Promotional Plus" option.

Offer up needs to take responsibility for allowing fake ads to be generated selling new cars for $550.00 for example and so forth. If they are will to charge you for a service and profit from the website in the last few days there are more fake ads than real ones. WHY NOT FIGURE OUT OR PAY A HUMAN TO TAKE 1/2 A SECOND TO LOOK AT THE TITLE PAGE TO SEE IF IT MAKES SENSE. PEOPLE HAVE FIGURED OUT MORE THAN --------Judye688@(gmail) at com----- IN THE DISCRIPTION IS A SCAM WITH THE INTENTION TO TRY TO SWINDLE SOMEONE. VERY SIMPLE IF THEY PROFIT FROM THE WEBSITE THEY NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT THEY CAN BE. Please hold offer up responsible for not ever looking at the ads!

I am a ITT specialist and will be filing a FTC complaint for the following deceptive practice of Offerup.com(05/11/20):

OfferUp.com deliberately executes the command gateway time-out error
Upon successful cancel of order. This executed protocol allows all function of OfferUp.com to be used except the view receipt/transaction ID.( Users are indeed able to view receipt before successful cancel)The intention to this protocol is to omit reciept/transaction page so buyer cannot receive funds by filing a true refund with customer service. This is a 2 part system in which time-out-error coincides with mandates of the required reciept/transaction Id to customer service in order to receive a true refund. Without the reciept/transaction ID field, customer service cannot be contacted via offerup.com. Status of order can state refunded but the implementation of the stated 2 part system designates a FTC deceptive claim. Protocol is based off of a local user id location for a convincing error.

Discovery of this was based on my recent purchase of a Ryzen 1400 series gpu.

I bought a phone (a Samsung Galaxy s20 plus) from a Johnny out of Conroe, Texas on OfferUp. Turns out the darn thing is locked to an organization. So during setup, right after asking your language, it comes to a screen that states "This device belongs to your organization" then to a screen prompting me to enter either a server or an e-mail address. The seller answered only two of my twelve messages post sale and OfferUp itself has answered ZERO of my four messages. Inow have a phone I cannot even use for internet because I cannot get thru the damn setup! I HATE OfferUp and will NEVER use them to buy or sell again. I am a seller as well and I would NEVER do this to a buyer as i could not in good conscience receive that money and even if I could morally do something like that, the platforms I use to sell would KICK ME OFF for this behavior. As should OfferUp this seller. The seller is Johnny out of Conroe, Texas. BEWARE of Johnny and OfferUp!

My wife sold our Nintendo Switch and 2x games to a guy in Florida.
He claimed it did not work. Funny it worked fine the day I put it into the box and shipped it to him.
Then he was supposed to ship the Nintendo switch and 2x games back to us. Instead he shipped us empty game cases and the Nintendo switch box with a bottle of tea and a bottle of water inside it.
He kept our items.
I called local police as well as Miami police.
Offerup has DONE NOTHING...

DO NOT US OFFERUP... NOTHING BUT LIARS AND SCAMMERS ON THERE.

I'M NOW OUT OVER $400...
