PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
We ordered the wrong size columns and have to eat the too-small ones. Could have used the help of Pacific to read the blueprint plans to get the correct designed size.
Also wish we'd gotten the heaver Endura stone. The lighter Endura Classic columns sound like tin cans -- we did get a sample, but had no idea how it would sound in a long tube.
Wish these columns had a local supplier so one could inspect in person.
It was a surprise to see the lighter ones nailed back together.
The initial conversation and placing the order with the salesman to ensure I was getting what I needed was excellent. The columns arrived exactly as the schedule was presented to me. In my case the driver unloaded the columns and caps all I had to do was sign the paperwork. The product looks to be of good quality but I have not installed them yet. Upon opening the boxes one of the columns had a 4" long piece broken out of the bottom of the column. Fortunately I have to trim 10" off of the 8' columns so that should not be a problem. I would recommend these folks to anyone, the price was right and the columns are of the quality I was looking for and the people seem to care about their customers.
The sell side was complete, the delivery side not so attentive. Had I not called, I might still be waiting for the columns that were purchased, paid for, but the order never placed. The response was perfunctory without much ownership.
I ordered a split column and not one of them out of 4 have arrived undamaged. I made phone calls to customer service and never received a call back. I will not order again and will not recommend this company.
Very easy to work with however the billing portion (sending me an PayPal invoice in which to pay) wasn't smooth. Had to work with customer service several times to finally get a PayPal invoice that I could click on.
Pillars themselves were not round but slightly obround so the bases and tops did not fit; the columns had to be shaved down.
The salesperson I worked with was very helpful and provided great customer service. He answered all my questions. I knew exactly what I would be getting by the time I placed my order. The pricing is VERY competitive and my order was delivered promptly.
The only thing that came up was the courtesy call from the driver told us he would be at the delivery site in an hour. Arranged for a crew to be on site for the delivery to help unload and the driver had arrived 30 minutes after his call and my client had to unload the truck.
It was very unnerving for me to order columns online, sight unseen. But the experience was very satisfying. The columns are in and waiting to be painted. Your customer representatives are very helpful.
Thank you.
The column was not what was described on the phone, and we asked for a split base when we talked with our customer service rep. When the column came the base was not split, my husband had to try and make it work for the job he was on.
Customer service was extremely helpful. Prompt response and prompt response on questions and quotes. Delivery received on time and in excellent condition. Overall an excellent experience and I will definitely purchase from Pacific Columns again.
Everything was good, no issues. Customer service was awesome. Delivery was great and the driver was very nice and accommodating so we could get those heavy columns off the truck and onto the front porch.
My order was wrong, it is still wrong, and I have yet to be contacted with a solution. I have had to call back 3 times now, still no return call. I will stop the payment on my credit card and return the order and order from another vendor
Columns received - when we went to load on truck for install day, one of the columns, when place on a persons shoulder, made a hole in the middle of the column. The piece is so flimsy as is the rest of the column. I sent an email on 2/20 to the person who placed the order for me. She advised me that she sent the info to customer support but no one has contacted me regarding this issue. Hoping to get this resolved.
I was surprised to see boxes marked TURNCRAFT...which is the original supplier of the columns we were trying to match...
Some of the boxes on the pallet were torn...the driver saw that...I will inspect if gauges were left on columns during the trip...
Otherwise...we are very happy that it's the same item we purchased 8 yrs ago.
Before and during my purchase Garrett Bonetti answered all questions since I had never been exposed to the "column world." He helped me make the correct decision on the column type for my home. Two calls to the help deck were answered by Tonya (sp?) and Mara (sp?) and they went to shipping to provide the precise ship time and tracking number. My contractor doesn't speak fluent English and I asked Andrew Gonzalez if Spanish installation instructions were available. He said that the instructions were available on the website nor in the office. The next day I received instructions in both Spanish and English! He'd translated the English version which I suggested would be valuable for customers in Texas as we run across the language problem on many construction. Columns were in perfect condition and now being installed.
Excellent product, excellent service and rapid shipping! Would be glad to recommend Pacific Columns.
I needed 6 columns ASAP, ordered them on Wednesday afternoon, drove all night from Arizona and was able to pick them up from the warehouse early Thursday morning. The Columns were packaged well, the guys loaded them for me and the columns arrived back in Arizona without a scratch after riding in the back of my truck. Thanks for an excellent product at a fair price.
The salesman was very helpful helping me find the right columns. The customer service was great, FedEx gave me a very badly smashed up shipment and pacific columns customer service did everything to make it right and replace all pieces damaged.
Overall I was pleased with the product that I received for my project as was my customer. The design and quality of the columns were excellent. The only problem I encountered was with delivery, however customer service did work with me to resolve the issue.
Honestly? Going from $280 for a 9' long 10" diameter tapered column (from my original quote) to $366 for a 10' long 10" diameter straight column (the product my client opted for) left a bad taste in my mouth. Your salesman claimed the increase was due to "materials cost", but that does not ring true to me. Leaving delivery and labor out of the equation entirely, an additional foot of material would prorate out to $28, maybe $30 taking into account the extra circumference at the top of the 10" straight column. It seems to me that if anything the straight column would be simpler to manufacture, making it less expensive. I try not to jump to conclusions, but I can't find any logical reason for the price increase, so I am left wondering.
I have received the columns twice and twice the columns were broken in two. I am completely dissatisfied with this transaction. You people need to get a different shipping company. This transaction has cost me hundreds of dollars in lost time and I still don't have any columns.
I can't believe the bases were plastic. I received an email from PC that the capitals were to be delivered on Tues but they didn't arrive. I got a call late on Tues from Fed Ex that it would deliver the capitals on Wed between 10-5. I stated that I had 2 men ready for work on the columns and capitals and they needed to be delivered before 11 since I didn't want them to waste a day waiting. If you say they are to be delivered on a certain day they should be delivered. There is no excuse for you to say one thing and the delivery co. To say another. You need to coordinate such things to avoid customer headaches.
This is my second order from Pacific Columns and I am very pleased with the quality and value of both orders. The columns were perfect and the shutters look to be of very high quality. The shutter hardware I purchased is authentic looking and of very good quality. Overall it was a good purchase.
The columns I ordered are beautiful. Very strong and high quality. They look beautiful on my new wrap around porch. I would highly recommend Pacific columns to anyone looking for beautiful, high quality columns.
I found Pacific Columns to offer a wide choice of moldings, frame choices, columns, and decorative lines all in one place! I appreciated watching the video to see the workings of the production lines, shipping, and possible customization. Variety was the key for me placing my order!
I contacted pacificcolumns.com and liked the price. The columns were delivered on time and were what I expected. I didn't catch that the caps and bases were made of plastic but once primed and painted I suppose they will last well in the FL sun.
The delivery man was exceptional. He placed the columns next to the porch himself though we were not expecting help with the unloading. What a guy!
Thank you Pacific Columns!
