PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
They had what I needed. I wish they were able to deliver product using box trucks instead of semi-trucks. Makes it difficult for non-commercial customers to purchase.
Columns arrived with significant packaging damage but the columns themselves were in good shape. Fairly easy installation with minor alteration of instructions.
We have not installed the columns yet so I con't give you a complete comment at this point. With that being said we are happy for the service to this point.
Robin was extremely helpful, and very patient with me. She is a credit to your company! I received my order about a week and a half before I even expected it!
Delivery was horrible. Trucking company did not show up or call after scheduling delivery then reschedule came after 7 pm when I was told it would arrive between 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
I received 3 broken capitals - I told my contact and still have not received new capitals or any direction on what is going to happen.
I cannot install these columns without capitals
Please help
I wasn't sure about the cost cause not sure how expensive the materials are. Haven't gotten them put up yet but am looking forward to getting to it hopefully in the next couple days
Good experience received columns in less time than was quoted. Installed just like the instructions. Really made a bid difference in the appearance of the house.
Very helpful with information. Helped me decide which columns to buy. Arranged for quick delivery. Delivery driver was extremely pleasant and helpful in unloading the columns.
We found the columns online, spoke with a very helpful technician, ordered the columns and received when promised. They are exactly what we wanted! Great experience!
The whole order process went okay, my original ship date was the 4th (a holiday) I called several times trying to get updates on an actual ship date and could not reach the sales person, when I reached her the columns had already arrived in Portland on Thursday (the 7th)
With the holiday involved and all considered the transaction was satisfactory.
Initially I was trying to find some affordable round Tuscan molded post wraps to go around existing posts in an outdoor patio kitchen. Could only find that type of product in square profile from other suppliers; PC options were much more sturdy and expensive than suitable for that project. Customer service was great though, very rapid quote and helpful. I contacted PC for another section of the job. Great response and product was available in California for shipment to Oregon.
My only criticism is that split column options are almost impossible to find on the website. I stumbled across them somehow on about my 4th visit. Also, customer service informed me that the price difference between primed vs colored/textured columns was substantial, which is not apparent from website documents. You came close to losing a sale because my RFQ would have been for colored/textured columns and I would have walked away, not knowing the primed were much more affordable.
So far I've been "chasing" sections of the job, trying to add columns to sleeve over wood posts my contractors have already installed. I'm working with the architect now to get ahead of that curve and have some structural columns used instead of wood posts for my pergola.
Experience was good. I was a little confused by an email saying it would be special delivered and I needed to go into the truck to get my package. It was finally sent by UPS so delivery was fine.
I never received the capitals to my 6 columns. I assumed they were in the box with the bases. I left message with customer support and have not heard back yet.
The sales part went great.
I was involved in a long drawn out project that took over a year form me to finalize my order. Pacific columns and their staff was very patient and dedicated to helping finish out this project.
2 out of 4 columns were broken on the bottom edge luckily I needed to cut enough off to be able to use them. No protection on lower ends as there was on the upper ends.
My first order of three tapered columns (residential use) arrived "not split" - the columns were taken off the truck and all opened to inspect them as advised in PacCol. Literature-finding them not split I called
CService and Sarah said there was no one to come to my home and cut them - that I would have to do it.
The next day I spoke to Ryan who identified himself as the head of sales and the final word - he said they would take them back but I had to pack them up again and pay for the shipping to get them there. I tried to reason with him that the retail customer usually does not have access to pallets. Ten foot card board boxes, plastic shrink wrap, and steel wire strapping -this is a unreasonable request on his part to expect a home owner to comply. Mr. Ryan's reply was "when you return something to Walmart-do they pay for your gas?" I thought he was irresponsible in handling a problem obviously caused by their error and his argument on me packing them up professionally was childish. If this Ryan is their best, I gave up on him and PacCol also. To end the story, I paid someone to cut them by hand using a grinder-put them up and was very pleased with the results. I needed another column which I ordered and things went much better-it arrived split and that too looks great. I guess all's well that ends well! I have suggestions but no one is asking for them. Thanks Jim fischer
I recommend Pacific Columns because they are very accommodating to their customer's needs and are very helpful with any questions one may have. Our columns were shipped very quickly.
It was awesome, Ms. Elizabeth Hatch was very professional, she was answering all my questions until finally order my products which I am very happy about everything.
Thank you!
For the most part, it was good. Ordering was fine, etc... When I ordered, they said the lead time for shipping was 5-7 weeks. Basically, the rather large columns were supposed to arrive at the end of August/beginning of September. I didnt notice that the date was shifted to 3-4 weeks in the final quote.
I got a call for the delivery driver that they would be coming on August 9 and almost had to refuse it because I didn't have space to store them since i was still planning on the verbal quote on lead time of 5-7 weeks.
Additionally, knowing that this would be a heavy delivery, I arranged with the delivery company for a morning delivery on 08/09. They didn't show until afternoon and i had no one available to help. It was basically my wife and the contractor working on a house down the street that we had to beg to help since by that point, I had left to go to a meeting at work and our other arrangements also had fallen through since it was so late.
Basically, ordering was great, product was great, but delivery was a little bit of frustration.
Thanks again and hope this helps.

Had to have estimate sent a couple times but may have been my end having a problem. My contact was great with any questions I had having never bought from you before
We were not notified about the day/ time of delivery. We were disappointed to find our items left outside on our front stairs. We thought that this delivery should require s signature
The staff was able to adjust my order and save me a few $ overall! I did try to get a question answered but didn't get a response? Overall I would recommend them! Thanks Marc
We are always satisfied with the customer service and product. I only contacted customer service to see when we were getting our product, because it was shipped late.
Great experience. The company rep,Chris Appa, was excellent and gave good advice and followed up on all the questions I had.
I would recommend PC to deal with.
