PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
I originally left a message and no one called me back. I persisted and finally got a very nice person named Elizabeth. I would highly recommend her. She was very attentive and followed through.
Not happy with the mounting clips. I had called and asked the salesman for information prior to receiving and he was as vague as he could be. The mounting hardware Is actually pretty comical.
I worked with Ryan and he was very helpful with products ordered. Shipment were received when expected and assembly was very straight forward. I would highly recommend for you others projects.
Ordering the specific column I wanted was easy and without being coerce ordering a substitute. I want to thank the Representative, Robin, for making my order simple and understanding my expectations.
Delivery took twice as long as estimated. It took weeks to get responses. We got passed around to different sales people. Experience was disappointing.
All good. I believe the rep I spoke to was Evan (could be remembering) but he was great. Very professional and very congenial. The online chat option was pretty seamless. Thanks.
I was happy with the buying process. Delivery took a little longer than I would have hoped for, but no issues along the way once I ordered the product. The price I paid was fair also.
Could not be delivered within the time advertised. Could not commit on a date. One of 2 orders was double the production time we were told. We should have been advised there was a problem earlier.
Customer service is good. The shaft arrived broken at the bottom, but luckily we had to cut the broken area to accommodate for the height in order for it to fit properly with capital and base.
The only issue I had was with the delivery. It happened one day without notice when I was not home. That was a very different experience than what I was told would happen.
Great experience. The columns look great. And I have dealt with nothing but great service from sales through installation support. And I found these guys online randomly.
Column abacus is open on top, and in the 'correct' installation, they extend out from the architrave, thus are open the the weather. We have cut and fit tops, at time and expense.
Very helpful in putting a column, railing and stair rail system together. Have yet to install the system yet, but everything is packaged and ready to go.
I only received sample products and your catalogue, so I did not pay for services or products.
The catalogue is the most extensive information I have seen. Impressive!
Thank you.
Excellent service from start to finish. From the time I contacted them they provided fast response and quotes. The turn around and delivery of my columns was fast and they had the very best price.
Order was not complete in the first shipment. After calling customer service for remainder of parts, no tracking # was provided as promised. The parts did arrive and the order was completed.
I was disappointed that there were not instructions on using the parts in the order. Also the shipping costs associated with this order were ridiculously excessive.
They said I placed an order when I didn't. The catalog was great.I feel uneasy dealing with the sales department. I feel that communication is difficult.
We have ordered from Pacific Columns several times over the years and have always been pleased with their service and their product. We certainly recommend them!
Materials came damaged. Since we have not installed product we do not know if this will be an issue. Your staff believed the base will cover the damaged ends.
Everything was perfect, very nice customer service when I placed the order. It arrived on time and also I was notify couple of days before it arrive. Everything was great! I definitely recommend it.
One of the columns was damaged. The bottom was caved in about 5" up. Fortunately, the bottom column cap cover was 6" tall and we did not need the column to be load bearing.
My order was shipped to the wrong address, the person who received it knew us and called us in regards to it being at there residence. Thankfully, we did end up with it, frank Niville.
I received my columns timely and in excellent condition. The transport company was polite and courteous. Overall, the shopping experience was satisfying.
I was sent a link with a tracking number when my columns shipped. The link would never work. Had no ideal when delivery would take place which was over a week.
