PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
I placed an order for "columns" - understanding that it would take 14 days to arrive. 7 weeks later they arrived, with some damage to one column. No, I am not returning it - I might not ever see it again. Very disappointed with this company.
These columns were purchased to replace existing wooden columns in front of a small church. We have not installed them yet. The process for selecting and ordering was easy. A representative assisted in placing the order and arranging for delivery in an expeditious way.
Working with Pacific Columns has been a very good experience. The columns arrived ok but they were not attached very well to the pallet. They slid off to one side and I had to open the cartons to make sure there was no damage. Very tough columns. It looks like the bands were not tight enough.I have pics if you'd like.

I made a mistake on delivery location when original web order and within a day a day people on your end were concerned that it was too late to change. Some confusion in people getting back to me.
Too many instructions that vary from each other, on web and in box. You guys need to thoroughly review your instructions. They look like they are printed from the 1950's. I also feel that I had to search many time to find the size angle bracket to buy and screw lengths. I think that with such an item brackets and through bolts should be included. Also flashing pieces to cover tops of capitols where they hang over should be a standard item on your shelf. "Free standing column" is a confusing term.
People (like me) would gladly pay extra for pre-primed product.
Have not installed yet but do I really have to jack up roof almost an inch at each post? Not ideal.
Delivery was very fast, and overall a good experience and product.
I received excellent assistance from Customer Service. Columns were exactly as anticipated and were relatively easy for 2 people to install. They delivered on time and in good condition.
I was, however, not contacted to arrange a delivery time as I was told. Luckily, I did not have these delivered to my home, or no one have been there to receive them.
The wrong column caps were shipped. Customer service was apathetic about priority shipping the correct ones which were shipped by truck from Ohio taking 6 days. On arrival one of the column caps was damaged and unusable. I called the supplier, was told to call Pacific Columns. As requested sent pictures of the column cap, a return call told us to bondo and sand what we had! Ultimately another column cap is to be shipped on Jan 4 which is not a good enough effort from the supplier considering the two delays. It will be mid January at the earliest before my master bath remodel can complete and we are living in a construction site for an extended period. Order mid Nov to resolution mid Jan is much too long and I incurred additional expenses as well.
The products were pretty nice, the customer support person I dealt with seemed to always have a lot to do, not enough time to answer my questions. The purchase was frustrating, but the end product seems good.
It's fine. But I'm annoyed that any purchase I make has to turn into a smothering of surveys, emails, offers to do more, ratings etc. I'm old school, just send me a catalog with prices and I'll order from It if you have what I want for the price I want. If your stuff is good ill order from you again. That's your measure of customer satisfaction. Stop making a normal company customer transaction into a TV show. That's what will drive me away. -Aren Carpenter/Pomfret Restoration
Long rail piece that was shipped was cracked. I received the order, took picture of the damaged item and sent the information to get a replacement. Hope someone contacts me about the part being expedited and be replaced asap.
Thanks

Everything about the shopping experience was very good, as are the products I purchased: 2 columns, 9 feet tall, and a ceiling dome. The columns arrived quickly but I didn't receive notice that the dome was on back-order, so I did have to call as I was getting a bit worried. It arrived within 2 weeks of this call.
I would definitely buy from them again.
I ordered four 10" non-tapered columns - it appears they sent me the caps for tapered ones (so they were too small). I contacted customer service, and they promptly sent me replacement caps, although they were made out of foam instead of the stronger plastic the previous caps and the bases were made out of. I contacted customer service again about that but did not get a response. I was a bit pressed for time because my contractors were waiting for them to start the installation - so I just went ahead with the foam ones. I hope they hold up well despite being softer than the plastic.
I ordered my columns and capitals back in July and they are still not correct even with this most recent shipment. Communication is awful, customer service is terrible and my project is still on hold and has been since September! There seems to be no resolution to this and I don't know what to do as we built our entire project around these columns and capitals
The ceiling medallions were beautiful but we had a major problem with installing them. The two halves did not fit together at all. There was a 1/4-1/2" gap between them - even after we cut off all the left-over flashing which should have been done before they were shipped. We had to apply several coats of caulk between the two halves to make it look like they actually met together around the. This was very disappointing and caused us much more work than they should have taken to be properly installed.
I ordered the columns via phone and the sales rep, Andrew, was very helpful. Once the order was placed I received a confirmation email, and then some follow up emails re installation and assembly of the split columns I ordered. We arranged to pickup the columns as will call; we arrived around 11 am, order was ready to go. Before we loaded the order, I inspected it insure all was in good order, no issues. They help me load into my truck, and off I went; Pleased with the service. I installed the columns a day later, no issues and they look great. I would purchase from them again.
In general my experience with Pacific Columns was excellent. Sales, ordering, product knowledge, follow up were exceptional.
My only criticism of the process was the packaging. The Endurance Stone columns a HEAVY and were wrapped in a single layer of standard weight cardboard which was ripped in shipping and created surface damage to the columns. I can see the possibility of of substantial damage and negative consequences and bad feelings.
The only other suggestion I would make is the product sent to glue the split columns together might be improved. The body filler has a short pot life and the time and effort to completely fill the 1/8' gap is very time consuming. A thick body two part epoxy with a longer working time, like ones for granite counter tops etc. could make the gluing process immensely faster and produce a more reliable full depth installation.
But the coulums turned out great and many thanks!
The product is good but service experience was not good. No advance communication to me on my order that shipment came as two batches rather than one with a week apart of delivery time. I have to chase and call service to find out. It took 15 min+ to talk to a person, one service rep promised to email me of the new tracking number but didn't do, nor logged the issue / contact record. It caused delay on my project which I had local contractor lined up to start but the 2nd delivery was a week behind.
I have not had a chance to unpack the columns yet, so I hope that all is well. There was a bit of a problem when I placed the order, because the quote price and the pay price didn't match. After several attempts, Sara finally got it straightened out.
Delivery was quick and efficient. I thought the price was high, but couldn't find that post anywhere else. By the time I paid taxes and shipping, they ended up being around $750 per post, which is very high.
I like the product i bought, they were 8 foot columns but they were poorly packed and shipped. I should of had my son open and inspect the goods wear as i was out of town, but he didn;t. When i got back and opened the boxes 2 of the columns were broken approx 6 inches up from the bottom.i felt that by putting 8 foot columns on a 8 foot pallet that the damage is only bound to happen.it;s my own fault i'll know better next time.
This is our second order we have placed with pacific columns. We have been extremely pleased with product, price, and love our representative. He helped us find the right product at the right price to fit our budget and look for our house. The fypon shutters look great. I can't comment on how well they will hold up yet since we haven't had them long but Definitely a step up from traditional vinyl and a great alternative for those who can't quite make the budget jump to composite or wood.
I have never received even a catalog so I could attempt to buy something. Not happy at all.i can't be a paying customer when I can't see what you have to order. And this review doesn't work for me either.
Columns and capitols did not arrive when we were told that they would. Poorly cut columns. Wavy and inaccurate. Incorrect bases shipped originally. Zachary was very professional as was Ryan. They were really trying to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. I was at the mercy of "who knows what". Once delivery was taken and issues were found we were handled very quickly and with great concern. We did find that 1 of our last 2 columns was cut incorrectly but we had a good enough crew to re-cut an make it work. Never informed sales or customer service of the last problems. Lost enough time.
I shopped around quite a bit for columns for my 1947 bungalow and thought that Pacific Columns had a competitive price and good quality. But what helped tipped the scales for me was the great shipping rate. My column is now installed, painted and looks wonderful!
The order and pricing were great. The box had been folded in the middle during shipping and all the trim was broken. I was asked to do a survey but instead replied with this issue. I did not hear anything until this email for a review.
As a homeowner, shopping for columns can be very confusing. Being able to "create" my column was such a great help compared to the local lumber company where I had to use a magazine. Then I received a call and was able to ask any questions I had and felt even better when told that my choices would look amazing based on my application. It took me five years to purchase the columns because I was scared of doing it wrong. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again... In a heartbeat.
I ordered two 9' columns and received 8' instead, minus the caps that were to be included. Customer service was no help and the fast talking salesman that I ordered from quickly turned defensive then surely as I persisted. The best Pacific Columns was willing to do was "switch out" the columns if I paid an additional $100 shipping each way...that's $498.00 total for two $91 columns. Pacific Columns refuses to accept any responsibility and that is the last I have heard from them. I am in the process of filing a claim, which includes an expensive means of constructing a one foot pedestal sufficient to makeup the height Pacific Columns "shorted" me.
