PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
The woman who took my order was so helpful and knowledgable she made the whole process easy. Compared with trying to deal with the "big box" store, this order was a breeze! The column I ordered arrived quickly and was the correct one. My one complaint...the shipping cost was outrageous as I was told my location is remote. I would have liked the option to pick the column up in Tacoma or another larger population center near me to save cost but was told that wasn't possible. Overall a great experience though, thank you!
I had to call multiple times to my representative to get my order shipped. It took 4 calls and over 3 weeks to finally get it ordered and shipped. I'm not sure if she was off but I was disappointed in how long it took to finally get the product when on the first phone call I provided photos, dimensions etc.
Very helpful. Wish I knew about you last year because I took a hit on custom columns that did not fit and were not returnable. But, thankfully I found you and ordered the replacement columns from you. Your staff was very helpful.
I ordered two columns and associated parts based on the online visual descriptions. I was trying to match existing columns. The new columns came and we are of good quality and we're a perfect match. Thank you!
Everyone I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable. The columns arrived but it seemed the trucking company lost one of the small packages. I called your company to explain the problem. Your shipping dept. took care of it and I received the replacement in a week. Great service and great people. I highly recommend not only the products but also the company.
After getting a quote from a contractor to order and install columns, I took a look at the Pacific Columns website. The price was great and they even include instructions to install. The cost, including help with installation, is 1/3 of the contractor's quote.
The service rep was very attentive and helpful, even going so far as to suggest cost saving alternatives. We had discussed the option of delaying shipping until closer to the time I actually needed the product, but shipping went through without any input from me. While I got the product sooner than I needed it, this has not posed a problem, as the product is not weather sensitive. Just a communication glitch. I chose to pick the product up at the nearby shipping hub, versus having it shipped to my home. Personnel at the shipping hub loaded the product into my truck, whereas, had I had it delivered to my home, I would have had to off load it without assistance.
This is the second time we have ordered from you guys and the columns we just received have damage on them. We will be notifying our sales rep to see about a possible credit to repair the damage, but it is just a pain to have to get someone out to repair the damage verses shipping them back, etc.
Also no one called us to schedule a delivery time. This is a MUST as we only have women here and we have to schedule the forklift in order to get the columns off the truck.
The staff at Pacific Columns was very helpful... they made sure we had the right products and on time to meet our project schedule. Their staff went out of their way to make sure our project was a success. We are very appreciative of their customer service and overall attitude.
I was happy to receive the caps and bases to my columns which I purchased at Lowe's. It was totally unbelievable that after purchasing these columns that not one Lowe's store in the USA had the caps and bases for them in stock. I was very disappointed in Lowe's but I am happy that my columns are now complete. Thank you
Very Pleased. Professional and easy to get someone on the phone to discuss what I was looking for. Very very helpful. My order was delivered on time.
Thank you for making my front porch look beautiful. I love it!
My overall experience has been outstanding. My only suggestion would be to indicate what type of primer and paint should be used for the tops and bottoms of the columns since the material is different from the actual columns.
Delivery to a residential renovation site needs to be improved. I specifically said that the home being renovated was on a built out residential cul-de-sac and could not accommodate a semi truck delivery. When the FedEx semi came, he could not enter and parked on the main access road to the cul-de-sac, blocking traffic. We are lucky that there was not accidents with cars trying to clear the truck! The delivery truck driver and my electrician had to walk a considerable distance with the merchandise from the truck to the house. There has got to be a better way for delivery for residential renovation projects!
CS was so eager to help when I needed clarification with the products I was to order. The availability of drawings helped answer most questions and the CS people did the rest. The packages were packaged well although the delivery slightly damaged one of the items, the minor damage was within the area I was to "sight-fit" so nothing to report.
Excellent company to deal with.
Order took almost a moth to be delivered. Project had to be rescheduled. We had to contact your company at least 4 times, with long phone delays to speak to a person, and try to find out where our order was.
It was very important to me that Pacific Columns had all the information from a previous order I purchased six years earlier. It was important that they duplicated the previous columns to finish a home project and have everything match perfectly. The columns came in a short time and delivered with out any flaws. I had questions about the instillation and Ryan (#7154) answered all my questions. The service was excellent. Thx gus.
I aksed for expedited processing of my order and told the salesperson that I needed the columns by a certain date. It was not until the columns were processed that I learned the columns would not be shipped in time. I spoke to a customer service person, the initial salesperson and sent a written email to customer service to cancel the column shipment. However, the columns were still shipped despite my repeated efforts to attempt to cancel the order.
I would like to be contacted immediately by customer service to cancel the order, return the columns to you because I can no longer use them and get a refund.
Customer service was good while placing order, after paying for order the and you had my money, the service was terrible, took 2 months to receive order, customer service was of little help keeping me informed and getting order to me. Will not use or recommend to anyone else.,

Awesome quality. Packed with great care and received across the country unbelievably fast.
Love the clarity of the website and the follow up call that I received to validate I was getting exactly what I wanted.
The quote I received was utilized for pricing on a large renovation job. At the time of purchase I was told all the items were annotated on the quote, but one of the items pricing was forgotten. The new price was more than I charged the customer. I know everyone makes mistakes and Pacific Columns did bring the price down to what I charged the customer, but I'm in business to make money not break even. I have utilized Pacific Columns many other times and had no problems, so I guess I'll let this one pass. LOL
I had a very seem less and easy process and the columns worked out great. It started with great front end assistance over the phone with a company representative and the delivery was communicated very well through email.
Was not happy with the quality of the columns relative to the price paid.
Was told that the columns that I ordered were in stock and would likely arrive within a week.
It took about three weeks and, had to call to find out why it was taking so long.
I ordered 6 foot columns and they came at 6'2" so I had to cut each column. I ordered 6" diameter base and they came at 5-1/2". And even less once I cut them. The capitals are cheap looking and probably cost about 50 cents apiece.
I ended up incurring $325 in storage charges because the shipping department failed to respond to multiple request by the service rep for the increase in delivery charges for an upgrade to inhouse delivery. This resulted in a delay in delivery while I found a crew to unload my purchase.
When I received the columns I checked them by opening the boxes. I noticed a chip in the corner of the decorative moulding at the top of the column. Im not sure what to do to fix the chipped out corner but its there for me to deal with now. Is there a repair kit or any type of instruction for a repair. I have a customer that is worried that after I repair it. The repair will just break off again. Please tell me how to repair the chipped corner on the columns moulding.
