PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
I ordered my columns on July 10 and was given a 5-6 week delivery time. I had a family reunion over labor day and tomorrow I have a concert with a member of the 70s group, the Byrds, in my backyard. I arranged for a contractor to be expedient so my gazebo could be finished for these special events. When I tried to contact Ryan close to the expected date (he has never called me back or responded, I ALWAYS have to find him) he informed me that the time had moved to 9/15/17. He did not give me notice, I had to find out by calling him. He said he would try to move it up a few days. That did not happen. When I finally got notice of the delivery, they gave me a 10 am-3pm window. They guy showed up after 5 pm with damaged and broken columns that I did not accept. No, I would not recommend your company- does not communicate well and the shipping company used is not careful with the product. I cannot rate the columns because all I saw were the broken ends.
I am grateful to Mr. Garrett Bonetti, Account Manager, for the product information I needed. I have being professionally advised regarding some project questions and I have received promptly the latest edition of Pacific Columns Catalog. The company is strong with the correct interpretation of classical architectural styles and precision in details.
I would recommend 'Pacific Columns' to the professionals involved in design and construction.
Our order was missing parts. We didn't open the order until the contractor was ready to install. When we called, they said since we didn't check it immediately we had to pay for the missing parts. It was obvious when the parts were finally received, that the original box received was not big enough for the parts that were missing. The columns are great, but it would have been nice if we could have received the missing parts without being charged. On a positive note, when I picked up the parts from the warehouse, everyone was very courteous and helpful.
The directions sent in both boxes were for another type of column. It was extremely frustrating to try and find directions for installation. Would also prefer to find a video. Would prefer the holes to be pre-drilled as discussed in the directions.
The columns that we ordered are beautiful, and our contractor was impressed with the quality. The only negative part of the experience was the fact that we were promised the columns in about 10 business days. When we called to find out why we hadn't received them, we were told it would be approximately 1 month (from time of purchase). Return calls regarding this issue were not promptly returned; however, the issue was resolved and we received our columns within about 15 days of purchase.
Ryan was very disappointing. We had told him what we needed and what we needed to use them on. He sold us wrong size and told us they would fit with some chalking. They do not fit. When I called him back he was dismissive and blamed us for the error. We have to return them but it was over $ 60.00 to ship them to us. And we have to pay to ship them back to you. I told him I want to speak to his boss he said he would have them contact me so far nothing.

The ordering process was very easy and your sales rep person helped me a lot. Only one problem was I didn't receive the order acknowledgment at all and I had to call the customer service to request the order acknowledgment 2 weeks after I placed the order.
Anthony was very informative and professional. I shopped around for price and availability, Anthony told me 1 week for delivery, and he was right. I was on a dead line. I highly recommend Pacific Columns.
Nice product, quick delivery. Response time on questions to the office was a little long but other than that, it was a great expeience. Would be nice to have a little wider range of sizes - down to 5 inch diameter columns.
I love the product but I was not informed that one of the items I ordered was low on inventory. Had I been notified that one of the items was delayed, I would have asked for you to ship the others immediately. I was short-shipped that item and I do not know when or if the remainder will be shipped. Thank you.
Hard to get out of the trailer truck. Had to pull with straps to drag the pallets the full length of the trailer to get them to the back doors. If they had come covered on a flat bed, the forklift could have just removed them from the sides. We had to drag the pallets to the rear, and 12 columns at 250 pounds each column, was 3000 pounds. Then push and pull each column onto the forklift at the back of the trailer. It took us 3 hours to get the two pallets with the 17 columns off the trailer. Flatbed would have been 10 min to uncover the two pallets, then 10 min to get the two pallets off the flatbed trailer. That's what we all thought. Exhausted after the ordeal, and we used a forklift we had!
I was told that I would receive shipping info... I received none. My first indication of shipping was a call from the freight company, asking to schedule a delivery. The columns are not easy to assemble. The glue and nails are a mess, and don't hold the columns together well.
Found the item I needed that I could not find on my own. Good thing for me that I found them. They did a perfect job finding what I had to have to repair my columns. Had they not helped me, I would have needed to replace all of my entry way columns to have them be the same.
Already recommended Pacific to at least 10 contractors in the North East. Great service. Got exactly wht I ordered, on time and correct. Will use you guys again and refer you to many. Amzing how you can ship across the country and still blow away the competition! Thank You
I need a price sheet. My company does at least 8 to 15 estimates a week it is very annoying and time consuming to have to call for prices on every estimate. You have a great product line and I would love to use it more butits to involved to get pricing
Ryan was great. I told Ryan what I was looking for and I got what I was looking for at a fair price. Columns turned out nicer than I thought possible. Ryan up sold me to the 8 inch column and it was perfect for this application.
We received a sample for a couple projects we are working on, and we happy with the service so far, and quality of the sample shipped to us.
Thank you for your prompt response with the sample, and we look forward to working with you.
Regards,
Carolina McCarthy
On my original order, there were damaged pieces that were replaced. No problem with the replacement process, however the replacement pieces were also damaged - much worse that the original shipment. I am now waiting on their replacement...
Frick doesn't talk to frack. Frick (pacific columns tells you to open your boxes and check your order. Frack, FedEx says no if you do you can't return. Guys figure out the protocol. I'm a client and told two different things by the shipper and carrier.
After my order was placed my calls were seldom returned. I was told my order had shipped but I had no tracking number until the last couple days. This made it difficult to arrange help to unload the columns manually. I was told the driver could not use the lift and not obligated to help. I did not know if it was a small private carrier or a larger company. It ended up being fed ex. The driver was excellent he did use the lift and the crate jake to get columns in garage. The columns were in good shape and good quality.
Sam was great but the only thing i didn't get is a round collar for the top of the column, the bottom base was round but the top was square. Sam said that they don't have rounds for the top collar of the column.
Need better detailed installation instructions for split columns to secure and solidify unit. Need better instructions for split caps and bases that have large gaps. Need warning for installation of split columns that are not perfectly round.
Hi. Garrett is the person there that responded to my email inquiry and left a message on my voicemail saying that he was sending out my order. I am glad that you sent out this survey because I wanted to let him know that I am extremely happy with his friendly, professionalism and taking initiative to show concern and excitement about getting a catalog to me. The catalog arrived sooner than had been expected. I am not quite ready to order but I love this new catalog and all of the different items in varying styles that also include the dimensions. It makes my work a whole lot easier to have this catalog to help plan for when I am ready to order and the fact that I work on the computer a lot and although I believe in protecting our environment it is much easier on my eyes to go through and study. Garrett is doing a magnificent job and I believe you should give him a raise and a nice vacation! Thanks you guys, you are Awesome!
Many Great Blessings,

Kody was very helpful. I like the quality of the products. But it is not clear to me how I can best attach the rails to a round column. L-brackets were recommended but do not seem like an ideal choice.
2 of the 4 capitols I paid for were almost perfect with barely noticeable flaws.
1 of the 4 capitols I paid for had flaws which I was able to repair with wood filler.
1 of the 4 capitols I paid for is inundated with air holes throughout, ruining the intricate design and comprising structure ability.
I paid immediately, signed a contract, and waited for quite some time.
My order should have been inspected before shipment.
