PCI says "Based on the photos you sent, the defects shown are a result of damage sustained in transit. Damage was not noted on the carrier's bill of lading which releases them and our production team of liability. Because of this, I [PCI] cannot provide free replacements or a refund." CAUTION #1 - If you buy their columns, DO NOT allow the freight carrier to depart until ALL cartons are opened and inspected. DO NOT allow them to leave without first documenting any damage on the Proof of Delivery (POD) and DO get the driver's signature on it and retain a copy. DO get photos BEFORE they come off the truck and photos of ANY damage to cartons and product. Our shipment weighed 560 pounds and the columns weigh in excess of 100 pounds each. Insist that the freight carrier assign two men to get the columns off the truck WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE when they call to set a delivery appointment. CAUTION #2 – PCI Terms & Policies at https://www.pacificcolumns.com/terms-and-policies state "Orders Shipping Common Carrier require you to unload the items." DO read the following: "To Delivery... And Beyond!: The Boundaries of Carrier Liability for Unloading (A Clear Answer to Muddled Facts)" at https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=03897da1-330a-48a5-8983-76b53c01caf1 D. It reads in part:: Consignee Duty and Liability: A Clear Supreme Court Holding and Its Progeny Unlike many other situations, here, there is very clear case law on this point. The United States Supreme Court has squarely held that the duty to unload goods rests upon the consignee: The general rule is that it is the responsibility of the carrier... to `deliver' the goods by placing them in such a position as to make them accessible to the consignee. Normally unloading is not a part of the delivery and is performed by the consignee. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT - PCI may not have packaged correctly. In view of the apparent fragility of the columns, notwithstanding PCI Online claims to the contrary, the columns fractured. Regardless of how the damage was inflicted, and by whom, mere cardboard boxing of columns stacked upon one another and banded to a pallet less in length than the overhanging eight-foot columns does not afford adequate protection. Additionally, NO SPECIAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS appear anywhere in any PCI website pages or available pdf literature. CONCLUSION: In view of the above, it is my VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you DO NOT purchase products from PCI unless you can obtain a written and signed agreement from them that THEY ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGE TO THE SHIPMENT UNTIL IT IS DEPOSITED ON YOUR PROPERTY BY THEIR CARRIER and THEY obtain "CARGO GOODS IN TRANSIT INSURANCE" for the shipment AT THEIR EXPENSE.
Delivery took longer than expected, two damaged columns were received and processing was a bit slow as well as replacement delivery
They went above and beyond to accomodate me. Professional, thorough and persistant. I will continue to do business with Pacific Columns.
Garrett was very easy to work with and answered all the questions we had. My experience was way above my expectations
Very good experience... I picked up my order because I believe the $250 charge to deliver order was way too much.
The columns were suppose to have a white finish, but it looks more like taupe so we're going to have to paint them. Other than that they look great.
The boxes are not opened yet so the columns obviously have not been installed. My contractor will start next week
Very easy to design and specify columns with a quick follow up call from sales and BAM! We got columns.
Delivery time was too long, the assembly was a bit much, and the price little high for those two factors.
Order was wrong for the second time and I am waiting for new pieces to be shipped customer service was good but I'm still waiting for my columns
I am very happy with the columns I received. In fact I am going to order two more tomorrow.
Thank you very much for a fine product.
Ron
I was given a timeline of 10 working days and had to wait 22 working days for my order. I bought from pacific columns because the fast delivery.
Freight company failed to call me in a timely manner. I had to inquire about my shipment status to find out it had arrived.
Columns, bases and caps were as advertised. Very easy to construct and am very pleased with the appearance and longevity these will provide. Thanks
My experience with Pacific Columns was a good one. Many planning questions were answered. The quality of the products I purchased was very good.
Just got the catalog. Haven't had an opportunity to use any of the products for one of my projects as of yet, but looking forward to it.
Your shipping methods need more attention, I had to go to the local shipping office and pick them up.
My columns arrived in time for my contractor and were installed without issue. Very happy with the installed look.
Second time my order has been damaged and now my project is on hold until we get our order delivered thats not damaged
Sales was very helpful during the purchasing process. The product was delivered on time and went together very nicely. Well thought out design.
I picked up the columns myself, not delivered. They look fantastic even though they are not painted yet. They really make a statement.
Overall a great experience. Columns look great, and were easy to cut the the needed length. Delivery was actually early which was nice.
Your salespeople do not describe the products accurately to the potential customers. Your on site packaging and delivery continues to be very bad.
All the columns were badly packed with no bubble wrap or protective cardboard or Styrofoam.3 of the 5 columns were damaged. I contacted customer support with mutiple pictures and the FED EX damage claim and was told that I could repair them myself with bondo and sandpaper.I explained that I was not skilled enough nor should I have to repair them myself!
They offered a $200.00 credit.I will have to pay more for someone to come out and repair these. They didn't seem to care.I also explained that I had arranged for multiple contractors to be here after the arrival of the columns to do the work projects and that now as one column was so badly damaged they had to send a replacement that I would then have to pay one contractor another $375.00 (minimum charge for a days work) to come out and install the replacement column which arrived nearly two weeks after the first shipment(it arrived 4.9.19)I am out of pocket at least $475.00.and my project and been delayed completion by at least 3 week and I still have 2 damaged columns. From owning and operating my own business for 28 years I am disgusted at that lack of professionalism shown by your company with these events that took place.I can not in good faith ever recommend this company to my colleagues or contractors I work with. Many of them asked where I purchased as they could recommend for future projects to clients but after what I told them and how your company handle the whole situation they were appalled as I was.By you not doing the right thing in regards to this matter your company has lost a lot of future business and if your company continues to practice business in this manor I cant see how they could survive. I know for a fact I would not have last 28 years treating my customers this way!
EASY which made the purchase much better! I'm a return customer and appreciate all the help and support.
Professional and easy to deal with company, I would recommend and I will be purchasing from pacific again
