I stopped in to see if they could look at my car and see why I have an oil leak? I have a 2005 Nissan, Murano with 112,000 miles. The service guy said, it might take a while so I set up a service appointment for a week later at 12:00 noon. I mentioned, since my appointment is at lunch time, would that be a problem? He said, that wouldn't be an issue.
I arrived at the appointed time and they said, since I have an appointment I was next up. 30 minutes later, they still had not even looked at my car so I checked the status. The service guy said, they are a little backed up and I would be next. 45 min after my appointment time they finally moved my car into the service bay. At 1:15 the service guy showed me an estimate for the items they found ($3,796). I asked questions and the service manager couldn't answer them so I asked to speak to the mechanic. Instead, another service man came to answer my questions but frankly, his answers didn't make any sense either, so I asked if the mechanic could show me what's wrong. By that time, the mechanic had already pulled another car into the service bay and my car was in the parking lot. So now I had to wait until a service bay was empty to put my car up on the lift. At 2:30 my car was pulled into another service bay and the mechanic was ready to show me the items that were noted on the estimate.
Looking under the car was very helpful and the service guy did a good job showing and explaining the repairs needed. While I was paying for the vehicle inspection, an argument broke out in the store over one service person stealing another's customer. I had to remind the three service personal that perhaps this is something they would be better off discussing when customers were not around. I finally left Pep Boys at 2:50, almost 3 hours just to get an estimate and explanation of the repairs need.
Honestly, just observing their operation and way they do business was enough for me. I'm not going to trust them to repair my car. I won't be back!
I have been coming to Pep Boys in Collegeville for a few years now, and in the past year I've been having significant issues with the location. My catalytic converter on my 2016 Chevy Trax was replaced and not long after my check engine light came back on. The system check said there was an issue with the catalytic converter again. It was checked and there was not, They cleared the light, and told me if it kept coming back on, they would replace the converter under warranty. The light came back on. I brought the car back. They told me they had to run the code again. The same thing happened. They told me they'd check with the dealership and get back to me about replacing the converter. They did not. I called, I came in, I've had oil changes and tires replaced and each time, I ask about the code and the converter and each time I'm told that one of the guys is "working on it". Now I'm at a point where the warranty is up and they still haven't fixed the issue, despite my having several appointments dedicated to just that.
As I write this, I'm sitting in the store waiting for the 4 tires I had put on 2 weeks ago to be checked because they started losing air as soon as I drove them away. They tried to tell me that I must have run over something, so I had the tires checked at CJ Tires just to make sure, and was told to go back to Pep Boys and demand my money back or to have the tires replaced because the two left tires are leaking air, not form any damage I have done to them. I called to make an appointment and I was told they'd call me back. They didn't. I stopped in to make an appointment and was given one, but when I got here for my appointment I was told that it was going to be an extremely long wait. Either they're overbooking the cars or they're not hiring enough people, but I have never waited fewer than 2 hours here, even for an oil change.
As far as PepBoy's is concerned, I've been extremely disappointed with them within the past 16 months. About a year ago I paid for all these expensive die test for my Equinox, because I was having a major oil leak. The bill came out $ 1,349.99. Two months later my car started leaking again. Four months after that I brought the car back into PepBoy's and paid an additional $600. At that time, they suggested that I take the car to a car wash so that I can have the undercarriage cleaned. I purchased a monthly car wash at Quick Quack, but my car never stopped leaking oil. The manager suggested that I take it to another shop and get a couple of estimates… I haven't been able to that until recent.
About a week ago I was with my sister when she asked me to check the air in one of her tires. As I attempting to put air in her tire, I noticed a wire sticking out of where you put air in. Because it was the closest, and we didn't want to lose the remainder of the air in the tire, we hurried down to Quality Lube & Tune up Northgate. The two guys there couldn't help us, so my sister wanted to go to PepBoy's. This is when we met an up, and coming mechanic named Isaac. You wouldn't believe this but, Isaac was prompt, fast and trustworthy. He explained everything that he was doing, including the tire pressure sensor that was sticking out of the wheel. He really went out of his way, just so that we could have a drivable car. I couldn't believe that this was happening at PepBoy's after my previous experience. Isaac definitely sets the pace for technicians and mechanics to come! I hope he goes far, because his passion for the automotive industry is written all over him.
Worst pep boys service center in the area. Absolutely no communication among crews and poor customer service.
I booked an appointment on 3/30 and received appointment confirmation email. After arrival at 5pm on 3/30, I was told by a person at Service center, that they had few cars taking excessive time for inspection as a result they are not available at this time and asked me to reschedule for later. So I rescheduled my appointment for next day 3/31 at 10am. I arrived at 10am and women at service desk took enormous amount of time to even greet me. Anyways, I was told that it will take 1 to 1.5 hours for the state inspection and she asked me whether I'll be dropping off or waiting. I told her I would prefer to wait if it's going to take 1 to 1.5 hours. So she said she would call me when the car is ready. After 2.5 hours of wait, I didn't get any call so I called them and came to know that my car is just sitting out there. No one has started the inspection and the person on phone told me that there must have been some communication gap as they have lots of cars lined up for inspection so it will take more hours to get it done. I instantly came to the service center and asked the lady what exactly is the issue here. She said there must be more cars waiting, she do not know. So why did she gave 1.5 hours estimated time if she wasn't sure and why did she not call me if it's going to take more time?
As I said, very poor customer service. I took my keys and decided NOT to get the inspection done at PepBoys. I would rather go to a local service center who are family owned and value customer's time.
I already sent all details to pepsocial email address so dont bother replying unless you have definite response..
I was very impressed with the PEPBOYS in Lodi NJ on 153 rt 46 W The first thing that I noticed was that the place was sooo clean it was immaculate, I"ve a few bad experiences in their competitors shops, when it was sooo dirty I didn"t want to sit down. I was greeted with smiles here with smiles. They took my car in right away to do an oil change. The store mgr Rey along with his associates were very helpful and really nice. The mechanics at this shop are down to earth, professionals who really took the time to answer my questions with patience. They found a couple of things wrong, a part with all the bolts missing & apart that wasn't the size to fit my car, which would have eventually ended in the collapse of my car and a bad accident. I was shocked to see that the mechanic from my last shop would be so negligent to do this. The PEPBOYS mechanics told me to take pictures with my phone and I did. I feel that these nice guys saved mine and my husbands lives and I am very grateful to them for finding this. Rey the store mgr went out of his way to price parts to get me the best deal and he made me feel very comfortable even giving me the tv remote to watch what I wanted while waiting. This Lodi store worked very well as a team even coming out to check with Rey on certain things. Rey even happily accepted my coupons, while Chris gave me a ride home in his own car so I didn"t have to wait there, although I didn"t mind waiting there since I got a dunkin donuts iced cofffee next door and watched a movie while I waited in the nice clean shop and relaxed. The only thing this shop needs is a bigger sign closer to the high way because its set back and you can"t see it but you can see the competitions bright yellow which is right before PEPBOYS. I really appreciate the whole team at the Lodi shop and am very thankful to them for all the care and help they gave me, especially saving our lives by putting in the correct parts and not leaving very much needed bolts off. Thank you and Bravo to all the guys at this store. Sincerely Joan Marie Schambach
Letter to Pep Boys...
Once upon a time I vowed to never use Pep Boys services again.
Hendersonville, TN., had some work done including the replacement of a broken wheel stud.
2 months down the road I have to pull said tire. Remove hub cap... BROKEN STUD IS STILL BROKEN... though I paid to have it repaired. When I confronted the PB rep (who, in all fairness, DID, refund my money), he just grunted at me.
Nonetheless, moving on to 2015, I need tires. Quickly and as inexpensively as possible. PB in PCB, FL., provide me with an excellent deal and service.
Dacula, GA.
I have visited the PB at this location several times now with VERY mixed results, some of which have been posted elsewhere.
The last couple of visits have been for brakework (brakes work but squeal like a pig), and an oil change.
This last visit requires a little more explanation...
Took a coupon for a $29 oil change over. Bill is for $60! What?!
Ca-ching... ca-ching goes the calculator... $40 now (or some such)... WTH?!
Ca-ching... ca-ching goes the calculator... $31+ now... OK... so now we are really at coupon price. Geez.
On the way home I notice truck now pulls to the left. Still not sure what that's all about.
Get home, check oul, 1 quart low. Geez. Really?
Monday, April 3,2017, I get up early to jake appointment at this same PB. Need rotation, balance, fix squealing brakes, and, why is my vehicle pulling to the left?
Appointment is for 12pm, Monday, April 3,2017. Cool!
I get there at 11:50 am. At 12:05 pm I am told, "It's going to be at least 1 1/2 hours before service".
"Why did I bother to make an appointment", I asked "Janice", the PB rep?
She just grunted at me.
Rather than be uncivilized, I just went away.
I'm not sure exactly what to say. I'm certain that in the large scheme of Pep Boys business method, my few paltry dollars spent there, as much as my opinion here, is meaningless.
In return, I no longer trust Pep Boys and I damn sure would NEVER recommend them to anyone else.
Thank you.
This being my second experience at pep boys i should have known better. Everyone told me don't go to pep boys but i needed an inspection done asap. I walk in and customer service was great everyone was friendly and very willing to help. I drop my car off and get a call the next day saying it failed inspection. So i'm thinking what would have failed, i just checked the car over myself. "The rear wheel bearings have to much play." Ok how much. Not only did he try to sell me wheel bearings he tried to convince me i needed tires. Tires were not even a year old and were still a 3. Brakes were okay alignment should be fine no other issues. If i don't need tires why are trying sell me tires along with bearings. So for $1300 i'll take the work somewhere else. I go to my own personal mechanic. He asks me how these even failed they had hardly any play if any. I take it to my local dealership and have them look at it that week. Same answer from them. So no questions asked my mechanic orders an OE bearing and hub assembly for both of the rear. $300 total. After the issue is fixed Pepboys failed my car again for the same issue and tried saying the issue was worse. And now they say my tires are a 2 instead of a 3 in just one week and that my tires need done for sure. Even though there not even a year old and have plenty of tread. (a 3 according to the dealership). Also my brake caliper might need replaced they say and that i should get new rotors even though i just had the entire brake kit installed this year. (rotors caliper and pads) This place makes me laugh and i'm not sure how the people that work here even sleep at night trying to scam people. I've asked several people and they all told me don't go to pepboys. And i should have listened. This is my own personal experience yours may be different. They try giving those free things like oh we can inspect this and inspect that but to fix it your gonna pay top dollar at this place with mechanics that didn't get a job at a dealership, but they got hired at pepboys. Just remember that when they work on your car or truck. Oh and by the way my first experience years ago ended in my one tire never being torqued down. Yup it came off around 20 ft lbs and came off like nothing. Sounds safe to me. You choose.
She was a very nice and professional. She really care about me. Great Job Mrs. K
I drop my car off at Pep Boys, for a battery drain, gas leak, and replace a heater core.the mount that the shifter sits on was deoxidizing they couldn't find rhe piece so I had to go take one off a car in a junk yard myself. But about 2 weeks later still no car. Everyone I called I'm told its been work on or the mechanic didn't come in. Mow I'm being told that the dash is damaged from an accident the car was in lol. A pick up tried to squeeze between me and another car at Iight push on the side of the car mot t bone everything on the works I can open both doors nothing inside the car is or was damaged now they are saying things are broken or Misaligned from the accident there's no damage to dash or anywhere inside the car PERIOD SOMEBODY DIDNT KNOW
HOW TO DO THE JOB and making axcusses I have a bill of over $2,100 but know one is concern that its costing me money to pay someone every day for a ride for over three weeks wheres the adjustment to my bill... IVE BEEN A CUSTOMER FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS TOLD MANY FRIENDS TO GIVE THEM A TRY AND ALL I GET IS EXCUSES... I DONE WITH PEPBOYS
