Alley was exceptional so very friendly and helpful. Was an absolute pleasure. Great at offering other items as well... smile was so sweet
I came into your store to sell clothing. I saw you had purses 70%off. I grabbed two from the second each where it has 70%off. I was told those were not on sale they were the ones by the front door. Your cashier Bella was rude nasty and unprofessional! False advertisement! I will never come back here and I will be telling everyone I know family, friends about this and they will never come here again! Unbelievable! Fix your false advertisement! I will most definitely refer my fam and friends to encore!
Took two bags full of Brandy Melville PAC Sun Urban Outfitters and Converse in to sell. While we were waiting we looked around the store. The majority of shoes were worn out. There were lots of pieces from Shein. We did find a few pieces that were nice from shops such as Brandy etc but on the whole all a bit old and worn. My bag which was bursting with gorgeous pieces was returned and they picked out 7 items. Some of the stuff hasn't even been worn. I think my daughter wore the Converse maybe 4 times. I'm absolutely speechless! Most of the clothes were maybe a year old. Everyone in the store was cheerful and helpful so I'm not complaining about the staff. However if virtually brand new clothing hardly worn is what you have to sell I wouldn't bother taking it here.
I came in with really high quality items... Coach, Willie Micchi, Gap, American Eagle, etc. Brand new boutique clothing not to mention the shoes and real sterling silver jewelry. They denied it all except for a pair of Roper boots that they only gave me 5$ for! I looked through the store and felt like I would've been better off bringing in wore out junk stuff. I will never shop there and I will definitely not refer or suggest this place to anyone
I drove over an hour to go there and see about selling some clothes I have. When I got there I carried two bags in and the lady said they are not taking any more clothes for the day. Rotten. I would rather give it to Thredup.com; or poshmark than these people. What a joke. I went to the Triangle Mall store in Raleigh. Awful an I told the lady that I drove over an hour to get here.

Dropped off like new, young fashion items that i laundered and folded. Of 42 items, they bought 7 for a whopping total of $15.6 of the items were leggings. Not very friendly, extensive process to get in line and wait for them to go through your stuff. Off to Buffalo Exchange we go!
Went with a full box for them to tell me their inventory was full and didn't take anything. Waste of a company. Wasted my time. Like nah I'm not coming back in two months to waste my time again. $#*!ing ridiculous
I brought 37 shirts half with tags still attached and 5 jeans waited 2 hours for them to not buy anything! This is the 2nd time I have tried to sell to them with no success. Their prices are ridiculous. They only want high end items and pay you pennies for them. I will never visit any of their locations again. Shop Goodwill cheaper prices.
It doesn't bother me when Plato's doesnt want items I bring in. What bothers me is the condescending twelve year olds that work there and seem to get joy from being rude to people and loudly denying them. Pathetic work ethic of your employees Plato's, I will never go back. Buffalo Exchange for the win.
Every time I go in the employees are rude and not helpful. They act like they could care less to help customers. When you bring in items to sell that they say they "need" they don't take anything or hardly at all and only want to pay their friends good money and not other people who bring in good items. I love platoes options but this store needs major help in all areas. Since when do resale stores want $50 for an item that they gave $2 for? Ridiculous.
I brought a bin of excellent clothes into the store to sell. Brand labels. Roots, Mendocino, Zara, Free the People etc,
Some still had price tags on them. The young woman behind the counter gave me serious attitude when I ask her how the purchases worked. She told me she would go through the clothes and text me in about 30 min. She texted me in 5 min. Telling me the items were too old and they would not take anything. When I went through the basket it was evident she didn't even look at the clothes as they were folded precisely as I had pot them in the bin. If she was my employee that would have been her last day!
I'm not sure what happened, Plato's used to be a great place to shop. Not only did no one ask us if we needed help after being there for over an hour, but when we did finally want to check out my son and I stood at the front of the line for over 20 minutes. 8 people were behind the desk. No one looked at us, no one told us they would be with us. No one acknowledged our presence at all. A 9th person arrived, walked behind the desk and started telling 2 other employees what they did over the weekend. The 2 other employees stopped and gave this new person their full attention, laughing at her story, still completely ignoring us. Finally we had to ASK if someone was going to check us out. 20 minutes… I was floored and thought I was on some Candid Camera episode. I will never return. I would give it negative stars if I could.

Just tried to purchase clothing
Went to Plato's Closet on Nicholasville Road in Lexington last week to see if they had any exercise pants and tanks. They had plenty! Great brands at great prices! Clothes were in new condition, no rips, stains or tears. Everything was hanging up according to size, so it was easy to find what I was looking for.
The Plato's in Canton, Ohio always has something rude to say about the clothes, they're to old, outdated, worn out, etc... Half the stuff they sell is old, discolored, stained, loaded with animal hair, the shoes are so dirty, I'm not paying $30 for a pair of filthy shoes that I'd have to clean myself, I always make sure my clothes are washed & the shoes are as clean as possible. "IF" they do take your clothes you're lucky to get a few bucks, it's a slap in the face knowing they will turn around and sell it for a much higher price. I understand they have to make a profit, but this is just a rip off...
I took in brand new designer dresses with the tags still on and they took them all off the hangers shoved them into a garbage bag and made me wait 20 minutes them brought me the bag and told me they were too high end for them when I get them home again to hang up o find out that they bust 3 zippers on 3 very expensive dresses!
My sister and I both went with laundry baskets full of clothes. They expected them to be neatly folded before bringing them in, totally fine. When we came back to get the clothes they didn't want, they threw them back into the baskets in a unorganized mess. I mean 20+ pieces of clothing. Pretty disappointing when they expected the clothes to be folded when brought in but they shoved them back in the basket when giving back.
Once again, another horrible experience at Plato's Closet in Santa Rosa. There's many reasons why this store sucks so bad but I'll just list the main problems, first the owner has made the unwise decision to let youngsters run the store, WOW! Second it appears that the owner & the employees have no idea what it takes to pick quality used clothes, how to display the items, how to tag items without ruining them, & not one person can ever make a decision that makes the customer happy in return a positive for the business. Also literally every time I've been there the employees have a big mix up with the clothes the customers have left for them to look through. I'm so disgusted with the magnitude of stupidity I witness each & every time & as far as the owners go, wtf?
As a first time customer i will never use this store again. I brought in a large tote of clothes. All neatly folded. What you didn't take, which was hardly anything, they shoved all my clothes back in the tote unfolded and wadded up. Thanks Platos for making me go back and fold my old clothes again to donate! -5 stars.

Agree with all the negative reviews after wasting my time washing and then bringing in all lightly worn junior/young adult clothing items from jeans, hoodies, jackets and shoes and dresses for them to tell me they only wanted one pair of the shoes I brought, and that I did have good brands so to definitely come back with more stuff?! Why on earth would I ever waste my time to do that again? I have shopped and shuffled through items they are selling so I am not dumb of what kind of stuff they have. A lot of their items are overpriced and it is not all in perfect condition like they claim they are looking for. NEVER AGAIN! Lol!
Really organized, friendly service! Good quality clothes, and clean dressing rooms. Cashier was patient and quick.
This place really sucks. Buy a lot less than yard sale prices for new/newly used clothes
But when they sale they sale for nearly regular price
No bargains! Oh yeah pay attention to price tags cause they charge what they want, not the actual prices

Outfits. Thought priced together but when got home they charged price for top n price for pants
It's a nightmare shopping there and I won't be back. They won't let you try stuff on which I understand due to covid but there are zero mirrors in that place to get any visual of what an item would look like on. Just not the same professionalism that that place used to have. I feel like I'm at a garage sale.
They are thieves they pay very little for clothes I took a few pairs of shoes and they only gave me 2 Dollars for each pair. And apart from that they choose the best and modern one's that are from the current era if I had known that they were going to pay me so little and that they were going to take my best shoes which was new I would have better not even sold them.
I got here at 500 pm and Gabby I guess was there Manger said come back at 1000 o'clock tomorrow it's after 500 pm it was 501 pm I said said I drove over an hour one way and I wouid wait in the parking lot incase they got done early she said don't know what to tell you and walked away.
This is probably the reason they have no inventory for men's clothing. They do not allow appointments and she left at 515 any good employee wouid have stayed and checked me out five item's wouid have took her 3 min
I took two bags of shoes and boots in on a Thursday they said they would contact me when they had calculated my items. They later text me to come and pick up my cash, it had gotten a bit late so I ask if I could pick it up the next day, the worker said that would be okay. I went in on that following Friday and when I got there the young lady handed me my two bags back, a lot lighter and some shoes missing, then the worker said, I'm sorry we could not use any of the items and I received no cash and not all of my shoes. I contacted corporate office, so I thought and received an email that all of Plato's Closets stores are independently owned and that they had contacted the owner and suggested they reach out to me. As of yet I have not heard from anyone. This was the Saint Clair Shores Michigan store.
Drove about 40 mins out to my closest location in Fairfax, VA, to sell some clothes. Had a large tote bag full, including a nearly-new Madewell dress and perfect condition Loft pants. Waited about 45 minutes for them to review (even though I was the first one in when they opened) and all they wanted out of the big bag full of good condition slacks, jeans, dresses, and jackets was a single bralette. They gave me 2.80 for it. Not worth the gas money to get there. Baffled, because I shopped while I waited and the racks were full of out of season, out of style Shein stuff. Picked out a pair of leggings to buy with the store credit I was anticipating, but left without them because they were too expensive to pay out of pocket since I only got $2.80–the leggings were $18! $18 for used leggings! Won't be returning to buy OR sell.

Every single time I go into this store they either aren't buying or they don't buy anything. I have tired many many many times and each time was a massive failure. I will NEVER attempt to go there ever again. Oh and did I mention how rude their staff is? Well if I didn't, they are! Out of every single store I've ever shopped at Plato's closet by far is the worst store I have ever been in therefore I will never go in again
Tip for consumers:
They are extremely picky and I do mean extremely picky about what they buy. And when they do if you're lucky buy something you will get the lowest amount possible for it. The best thing I can tell you is if you decide to go to the store don't expect to come back out happy.
