PurpleBricks has a rating of 1.9 stars from 128 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about PurpleBricks most frequently mention customer service, and business model problems. PurpleBricks ranks 1185th among Real Estate sites.
Purplebricks encouraged me to let my flat out to a Canadian company. I'm now owed over a year's worth of rent and I'm having to go through the court process on my own as they have offered zero help. They also don't keep the property keys securely and would therefore be unable to help you in an emergency. Not to mention that their customer service is shocking. They now won't even let me exit the contract without charging a fee despite leaving me in a horribly stressful situation. Take it from me, just pay to use a half decent letting agent.

Paid for the higher service where we were promised a local agent to do the viewings and contactable at the end of a phone if you need them. Haven't been able to contact anyone since we signed the contract, no response to calls or emails over the last 2 months. The complains department are apparently so busy they can't deal with our complaint. This company needs to be investigated as they fall very short of any service.

Down right useless, trying to get hold of anyone directly is a waste of time, they do not seem interested in your business once the property is on the market, there is no real customer service, you constantly have to phone them or email them to move even the slightest things forward, don't be lured into there "cheap" selling gimmick if you want to sell your property I would avoid these like the plague, just a bunch of cowboys, once they have your money you go right to the bottom of the pile
Date of experience: August 12, 2021
They will lie to you that no viewings are available for weeks on a property, then will message you the day before your viewing to tell you that the property has been sold (not sure how this would be possible if no other viewings were taking place). Have lost my dream home because of this company's absolute incompetence at the simple task of arranging a viewing

Made the mistake of using purple brick to sell. Figured houses selling themselves. Might as well save thousands. Had pictures taken with an iPad. Some pics looked yellow. Was on the market for a week watching everyone house in my neighborhood have people lined up for showings. While I had 1 all week. Came to my offer date with no offers. Fired purple brick. Listed with an agent next day and sold well over asking in less than a couple hours with a bidding war. Believe me I wish it worked cause I wanted more money in my pocket. But clearly agents do not bring clients to purple brick listings and protest them. Do not waste your time or money. They don't even list your home on your home board. Only Treb. Big problem.
Tip for consumers:
Do not use them

Do you want to spend 2.5% (which was $25,000 for us) OR $4,000 flat rate taken not upfront, but out of the proceeds of the sale.
Within 12 hours, our house showed on MLS, Zillow, Zolo and everywhere else.
We had tons of showings, from all types of brokerages (since we offered typical seller commission), and tons of offers.
The listing agent was great, and kept in contact with us throughout, and the showing team and offer team both did great jobs keeping on top of everything.
We sold over asking!

The quality of service is soo poor that the low fees turn out to be just a waste of money. Their agents are unresponsive, unprofessional and overall they do not know what they are doing. After all they do not need to sell the property to gain their fees.
The business model is very appealing: low cost estate agents equals low fees. Unfortunately the implementation is not so successful.
Tip for consumers:
do not get attracted by the low fees. The service is very poor.

These guys like to waste everyone's time we went to view a property they have listed twice and went to make an offer and they send a response saying there was already an offer on the house. We drove an hr and a half each way 2 times just to be told this
One would think they could have told us there was a pending offer before giving us the go ahead to view the property so not only did we waste 4 hrs driving but we also wasted our realtors time viewing the property as well as taking the time to put an offer on the property
Tip for consumers:
If you want to waste your time like they did to us feel free to use them but their ethics are terrible

Purplebricks is a scam
Purplebricks is a scam. Avoid dealing with them. They are not estate agents in any capacity, they are just a marketing company, they just put your advert in a couple of websites and then, when u don't have any viewings for selling your property, they make fake viewing appointments (that usually are cancelled at last minute or noone comes for a viewing but they in their app they put it down as attented) until the 14 days period passes so u can't ask your money back. I complained many times and vague answers. I ever even got a sales board and when I complained about that too they offered me £75 compensation that was Never paid to me! And then they disappeared and not replying to my emails. Don't waste time and money with scammers like Purplebricks
Tip for consumers:
Avoid them at all costs. Customer services don't bother responding to you

Only put 1 as I can't put zero. What an absolute joke of a company!
We are currently 5 months into buying a house and they are only just asking us for compliance that should have been done before the house was taken off the market 5 months ago. Will not discuss the sale of the house with us, even though we are the ones buying the house! Ring them and they just pass you from one place to another saying they aren't the right department. Absolutely unacceptable service for something this important.
DO NOT USE. CANT EXPRESS THIS ENOUGH!
We are the buyer's not the seller but I'd strongly advise not to use these for selling your house and do not buy from them. Never known anything like it!
Tip for consumers:
Avoid like the plague.

Without a doubt one of the worst estate…
Without a doubt one of the worst estate agents on the market, they do what they can to actively promote the Purplebricks brand on tv and via online advertising, but their marketing of your property is abysmal. We were unfortunate enough to have an agent assigned to us by the name of Emma James, who is both unhelpful, patronising and completely disinterested in her clients. I would recommend to anybody thinking of using Purplebricks to think again and opt for the traditional high street estate agent who are motivated to sell your house via commission rather than a salaried employee who could not care less when she has your money and simply tries to undersell your property with a low valuation for a quick sale. On listing with Bridgfords we have been inundated with viewing requests which demonstrates the value of using a more expensive high street estate agent with excellent local knowledge and incentivised sales agents.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid using Purplebricks if you want to sell or buy a property

I use them as a letting agent, in the process of leaving them, they are changing staff constantly, they are ignorant, unprofessional and totally useless.
They ignore the tenant and the landlord, they ignore emails and phone messages.
They send out contractors who overcharge, because they are dishonest or purplebricks gets huge kickbacks? Both ways are very bad.
If I wasn't vigilant I would have been overcharged £3,000 in one year, which is most of the yearly rental.
I wouldn't recommend these cowboys.
Perhaps it's:- you pay peanuts you get monkey's
That's why the staff really don't care.
DO NOT USE purplebricks
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We have had a really appalling 16 months dealing with the Purplebricks Letting Department. Please, heed some advice... if you are thinking of letting a property, please DO NOT use Purplebricks! We paid £495 for a fully managed service and then discovered that they were not carrying out the 6 monthly inspections that they had promised. We waited 11 weeks for them to call out a plumber to a leak in the ceiling by which time the ceiling had been destroyed. We have had 4 different property managers over the 16 months, all of whom have been totally inadequate. They do not respond to emails or telephone calls. I have started sending a request almost daily and it takes an average of 17 days for a response. We asked them to increase the rent on our flat in October. They eventually agreed to do this and then we got a new property manager who said this had not been done. We want to cut all ties with Purplebricks as it is just too stressful and frustrating to try to chase them up time after time but they wanted £650 for us to end the contract. We have decided to evict the tenant and asked them to serve a Section 21 notice which we signed and they said had been done. I have just found out today, after chasing them for 2 weeks, that the notice has not been served! The level of service we have received has been abysmal. I have submitted two formal complaints and these are now with the Property Ombudsman. Please spare yourself the stress and frustration and choose another Agent.
Tip for consumers:
Do not use Purplebricks Lettings.

I used their Letting Services to rent out a flat that I own. I think they put all of their resources into the Sales side of the business. There is a very low level of service offered in lettings and all 4 property managers over the past 16 months have been atrocious.

Our house was sold within 48 hours of listing at more than the asking price, thanks to our knowledgeable and patient agent Kathy Bradford. Escrow closed on time with minimal hiccups. We were very pleased!

Problem with purple bricks is if you live In a town of twenty thousand or less all real estate agents will boycott bringing anyone to your property. Strictly pure greed they do not want a low commission company cutting into there monopoly of gouging you. Therefore it becomes hard to sell in a slow market

The lady with curly hair. Checking her damn phone while on the 401. Makes your company look like complete $#*! when she is swerving through traffic. Scary to experience. We honked at her and she did not bat an eye.

Sold our house in 3 weeks! The process was flawless and PurpleBricks brokerage did everything what listing agent would do and for a small flat fee saving us thousands in commissions. Their booking system is amazing and fast & easy to manage, and it gave us opportunity to deal with private buyers ourselves. Special thanks to Jacquiline Benn from Offers Assist who did a great job all along until the deal was finalized and final documents forwarded to lawyers. After this experience would never use real estate agents again. Thanks to PurpleBricks wonderful team!

No brick and mortar company, Agents are dispatched from a local pool and not reliable, they put your house up on 2 sites but don't offer traditional Real Estate Agent support, if you want that you have to pay extra, just go with your local Agent who knows the market and what they're doing. It could be the difference in selling your house or not. My property is still on the market for 9 months now, the sign purple bricks put on the house id hanging by one hook and they have not even come out to fix it. Stay away!

Tried Purple Bricks - agent who came to House was a very pushy salesperson. Got me to sign up for purchase assist etc. The market analysis they did was awful. Priced my property incorrectly and I the interest level was none. Agent argued with me on the phone with changes I wanted to make. Here's a tip if you decide to use them - NEVER tell them you already bought another home. You'll probably get better service if they think they can represent you for a sale in the future. Now that's I've gone through this, I can see why they closed in the USA.

If you can sell your property with PurpleBricks, you can sell on Kijiji. The only time they answer your calls and reply your emails is when they are selling their service. Once they get your money, they disappear. Well, in our experience, they did not disappear. They came back to say, here is a viewing request, go show yourself. Huh? We paid for the service, what are you talking about? Oh, we don't cover that area, there was a misunderstanding. No interest at all since this incident, just wasted our money. Stay away.

First agent we had was fired, next 4 agents within a week or 2 of each other quit, the last agent never called us, ever. The property was advertised with many mistakes. We wasted about 8 weeks with purple bricks will never suggest PB to anyone...

We have just removed our property from Purple Bricks and unfortunately it cost us £849 for basically nothing, other that hassle! We were constantly contacting to inform them that the board at the entrance to the cul-de-sac had fallen down. I feel that they don't have to sell your property as they get paid anyway! Would not recommend them at all.

We have not even started to buy or sell our home with PurpleBricks. Recently my husband and I were interested in a lot. We sent a list of legitimate questions to PurpleBricks and the realtor was unable to answer so forwarded to the seller. After over 24 hours I was still waiting for answers and called back the company. Got the response that the seller maybe on a shift work, etc that is why taking a long time. Common listing of property size, property tax, etc should be listed and as an agent should do a follow-up with the seller. We decided not to pursue with PurpleBricks even to sell our future house (had a same comment from our neighbour that she regretted going with PurpleBricks).
Date of experience: August 27, 2020
Overall, our purple bricks experience was good. We were able to sell our property quickly. We did encounter some minor hiccups in the beginning with paperwork. Once we moved passed that, it was a smooth process. In our opinion, we found it helpful to include our own research to set the sale price. We would recommend purple bricks to our friends and family.

Save thousands when you sell. A faster process when you buy. Avoid real misery. Purplebricks is a refreshingly simple platform that's transforming real estate.
