“Fun place to stare at eye candy”

Wai W.
11/10/19

LOVE the purse forum. I started with my first LV from browsing the forum when I was 22 years old and it's been a slippery slope since then. I don't know how some women on the site afford as much luxury items as they do but I love staring at their eye candy. I've never used their free authentication system run by volunteer authenticators because I always try to buy from the boutique or use a paid authentication service. Having said that if I was in a pinch I would probably use their "authenticate this" thread. I love that if there's a brand I'm interested whether it's shoe, jewelry or bags, that I can find and read about on the forum, so that's great for someone like me that loves to research but very bad for my wallet lol.

“They get paid by fraudulent people to advertise”

Ins N.

They Ban you and claim they warned you but didn't. They get paid by fraudulent advertisers to put out scams( especially in the plastic surgery section) and will ban the people who challenge those who post real reviews. Be careful. It's a platform that cannot be trusted or taken seriously. They claim they don't allow fake profiles of clinics, but will ban you if you call out the profiles- which are very obviously using the same language and fake images. It happened not just once, but three times that I got banned for speaking the truth. Please don't trust anything you read on there

Seriously, you can be as polite as possible, disagreeing with somebody, giving evidence why you disagree, if they report you there is no check, you end up being banned, it is more a playground for people who like to do high school drama, also a lot of the people selling on eBay are authenticating their own items, make of that what you will...

I let them get on, the site is paid by some advertisers and has a lot of shady connections, draw your own conclusions

Whatever you do, do NOT go to authenticatefirst! They are a scam! 2 women from Indiana who threw together the website last year and made $69,000 for reviews that they had no clue about! They said my Louis Vuitton was fake when I bought it at LV! They are just scam artists who authentications mean nothing!

It is a bit absurd, people who have seriously very little clue about high end products pose as authenticators while selling items on various websites, if you point out what they missed and why the item might be real or fake, they report you as fake and you get a warning. A bit like a bullying group of mean girls, however the owners of the site get a kick back from the sites they push on you, so do not expect much realism or truth there. In case you want an infomercial pushing sites at you where the owners earn, great, otherwise, give it a miss

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother

A scamming buyer posted false accusations about me on this website after being exposed for being a scammer, Also this user created fake accounts posing as me to "ruin" my reputation and then I started getting harassed by several members of that forum on purely false accusations with no tangible proof.

This forum is full of pretentious ladies who will believe anything someone says with no real proof.

PS that scammer is being sued in small claims court ;)

TOTAL SCAM! I purchased a Chanel on ebay they authenticated as real and encouraged to go for it. Receive it, and what happens when I post to resell? I get my ad pulled, because the same exact Chanel they said was real is now a fake on purse forum! I read what they posted about my ad, saying " Good job, be gone" Come to find out later, it was one of the members pets that sold me the purse. Quite a vicious cycle of scammer's. My advice is stay away from the self proclaimed authenticators, as they are selling who knows what themselves, and trying to snuff out other sellers, Shameless Hens!

A site that is a complete fraud that engages in gossip, spreading lies and misleads newbies. They know nothing about authentication and whomever claims to be an "expert" is far from it. Authentication cannot be done via pictures online. And most grievously their moderators or "mods" are in cahoots with certain people, sellers and will edit or ban or delete at will if they feel it suits them. A complete farce.

If you're in the market of buying used purses (chanel, LV) or Louboutin shoes AND/OR selling mentioned items, this is a great resource for learning about shady buyers and shady sellers. It's sort of like a SiteJabber expressly for designer handbags (and shoes). They also have volunteer threads for you to post links to eBay and other auctions to seek authentication of a certain brand. There's a banned buyers list for eBay which is useful as the forum users have banded together to compile a huge list.

I have been a member of this forum for a couple of years. I have personally witnessed biased behavior with the moderator S@@ky
I have had my comments deleted where other people comments remained on the thread expressing the same views. In certain threads you can definitely see racial opinions expressed but this platform discourages political commentary. Do not voice your opinions about being unvaccinated or contradictory information against the covid vaccination. Be prepared for the clique to attack you. I have seen other members post of this platform complaining about the biases that are rampant. This platform is great for getting the latest information on upcoming designer launches, product availability, prices, and quality control.

Don't waste your time unless you want to be abused by the authenticators. Wouldn't trust their credentials as they obviously don't have experience in customer facing roles. Don't understand why they contribute if they just want to be rude and elitist. Also no response from moderation or whoever is running the site.

I posted three times in urgent need of getting my purse authenticated. The authenticator posted back that i was an impatient person with a frowning emoji. Did not even respond to any of my authentication request instead posted that i can get it from somewhere else.

If people get scammed on eBay, apparently it is the buyer's fault, apparently as a buyer you have to make sure that the item somebody sells you is as described, I was totally puzzled by this until I googled and found out that a lot of the so called experts on this forum are sellers on eBay who try to protect their turf and sales. So asking a question on TPF is like asking a shop if they recommend their own goods.

I looked a bit further, apparently they also hunt sellers they see as competition and get others to report the items as fake in great numbers, and they are affiliated with several luxury resale sites, so no wonder that those sites get glowing reviews.

I treat the site with great caution

The authenticators have no experience, if you challenge the advertisers you get a ban, as fake as it can be, however I guess the owners make a ton of money from advertising and protecting shills who have been called out repeatedly. Money talks, greased wheels

If you make any small error in your post on there, or post your question in 2 different threads (since you got no response in the first thread) the authentcators will take time to be a rude power tripping troll. They will tell you that if you mess up your post again, you will be ghosted. But they don't take the time to authenticate any purses requested by people. It's a joke of a site. Don't waste your time signing up and posting on there, it will fall on rude deaf ears.

There's that saying that goes "I learned long ago never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty and besides the pig likes it." So true on this forum. Bunch of mean girls hiding behind computer screens acting like 13 year old bullies dying to give someone a wedgie. Seriously. They have no life. And their "authenticators" are complete jokes. Please, go pay a professional. I'd be careful with Authenticate4U, they are affiliated with PurseForum (I heard that some of their so-called professionals authenticate on the forum) and they are a scam as well. They lied and told me a purse was real, when many others said fake. I found out from the actual store that it was indeed fake. They will also tell you a bag is fake when it is real. BE CAREFUL. They suck as a company and take weeks to respond to you even though paid them promptly. Very unprofessional as well. PurseForum, Authenticate4U, you'd be better off to stay away from the both of them for your insanity!

When I pointed out their lack of expertise, Gina told me that I should not buy a 2nd handbag and go to the store. Who on earth would said that to a customer. Save your time and money, do not go to their service.

This merchant "authenticated" a pre-owned Prada bag I purchased and sent me a letter stating it was real when I knew it was a knock-off. After submitting MULTIPLE emails and additional photos, they finally agreed it was a fake handbag.

When Authenticate First found out the item was purchased from FashionPhile.com, they informed me that they could not send me a revised letter indicating that the item was counterfeit due to a "conflict of interest."

Isn't an authenticating service in business to call out merchants on the counterfeit items that they sell?

Avoid these people!

Scolded me because i asked them to authenticate a vintage Louis Vuitton wallet. I had participated in posts but apparently not enough. The authenticator took the time to write a personal scolding to me like i was a 5 year old.

Purse Form members collude with certain sellers to strategically give a bad name to some online sellers while praising others. In particular, a Purse Forum self-proclaimed authenticator under the screen name Vesna has done a lot of damage to a lot of online sellers. Everyone BEWARE! A lawsuit is imminent if this continues. It will probably be a class action.

Very pathetic of them to ban people for no reason, and the moderators clearly love to make abuse of their power. Free speech is moot, and they ban people with no warning, claiming they warned you (no you havent). You also cannot contact them whatsoever to challenge the ban. Very much gives elitist power hungry assh*oles vibes which is the only thrill they get in their pathetic life.

The Purse Forum is actually a wonderful place. There are a couple of members, fabuleux and jellyv in particular, that seem to get off on being complete and total asses to people that don't deserve it. Their comments consistently in all threads are condescending and it's like they're trying to be rude on purpose. Makes you wonder how badly they were made fun of growing up to need to overcompensate in their lack of confidence by being keyboard bullies. You can tell they enjoy tag teaming and agreeing with each other on their imaginary high horses and it's laughable how mighty they feel. They are the epitome of online nerds that live in their parents' basements, eating snacks and calling mommy to refill their Mountain Dew. Whether that actually describes them or not, THAT is the kind of impression they leave to others. Gross.

Website could use a redesign, other than that, the information is pretty straightforward. I'm still not sure I need an expensive purse that bad... after all, I'm just going to fill it with my junk.

Submitted a vintage nylon/neoprene Fendi baguette which I got from a reputable Japanese eBay seller to their Fendi "authenticate this" forum. The stamping of the lowest line of the "E" on the side of the logo was a bit faint, but legit- everything about the bag checked out from the back of the zipper, perfect stitching and overall quality feel. They took so long to respond so I decided to ask an expert - a professional who authenticates and sells designer bags for a LIVING. They thought despite the stamping, they thought it was legit. But a few week later TPF person - "A" said it was fake! So who would you believe? A PROFESSIONAL who does this for a LIVING for many YEARS or some random person who isn't even a professional, and is an "authenticator" by name only? The authenticators on the website don't even have professional standing so you definitely can't take their word 100% of the time. Also, I've noticed that the authenticators act so superior and arrogant. I appreciate they are providing their "service" for free but come on - there's no need to treat people horribly. You may end up waiting for ages, for them to only skip your request and pick the next one. Why? Because they can!
