There is nothing more noble than an organization dedicated to helping those in need. I merely wanted to inform everyone that if you do decide to donate to the Red Cross to make sure you use an e-mail address that you don't use often. I didn't realize making a contribution meant subscribing to almost daily e-mails. (8 e-mails within 7 days. Some days I got 2, some days I got none.) Really, Red Cross, really? Luckily, there is an unsubscribe button. Well, that's my experience with the website! Just thought I would share.
My fiance and I recently lost everything we owned including our beloved pets. We were told to contact red cross for help with housing and everyday essentials. My fiance called they took our info and said they'd call us back. We never heard back from them even after my fiance tried contacting them two more times both times was told they'd call back.
They should get a BIG FAT "0" but the lowest is "1". PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH.
I was displaced from my renters home after tornado IDA and lost my apt including all my belongings. They DIDNT LIFT one finger to help me or guide me- all they said was an indifferent sorry.DON'T GIVE DONATIONS to them. Give DIRECTLY YO THE COMMUNITY AFFECTED.! My surname is Spanish but I am CAUCASIAN. I still have nothing. I will be writing letters about my experience and WILL NEVER DONATE AGAIN.

I have donating gallons of blood for the RED CROSS. I have stopped due to the Red Cross administration's involvement in politics. Instead of thanking members it insulted all by telling us who we can support or not. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE. AOC? Your position on this will make the streets run RED and you are supposed to collect blood not spill it...
Tip for consumers:
Call your local hospital or health clinic..... don't give it to any organization that pays it CEO "American Red Cross pays its CEO nearly $652,000" It might register as a charity but when it comes to money strictly business.... SCAM Business.....

I've spoken with red cross and a supervisor about help with a fire if you are a single male don't expect the help because they will turn you down and say they gave funds to the landlord without any documentation or form of identification from single males especially if you had a job even if it's been on hold due to the fire you have to pay for everything oh they have a couple resource numbers also the supervisors are rude and nasty I was called back after denial and questioned about a lie he stated I was on someone else case and I asked him did he have and form of ID or social security card on file he stated no the supervisor
Tip for consumers:
Red Cross needs to be boycotted and we the people who pay and donate need another resource that will help people out and not have rude workers who don’t do their jobs they should go home or quit

If you were one of those freedosloving Americans that decided not to get the vaccine you might want to think twice about getting any blood from the American Red Cross because they do not separate donations of blood from those who got the vaccine and those that did not get the vaccine so if you need blood you may get blood that has been contaminated with the vaccine they do not care when it comes to your choice and your freedoms
Tip for consumers:
If I'm ever in the hospital and I need blood I will get it from somebody that has the same blood type as me through a transfusion

My interviewer decided to interrupt me in the middle of my credentials endlessly. How does one do a background check if you can't be patient to listen to my background. I have many qualifications and examples of my work ethic, and I'm even a homeowner at 18. Yet, as I was giving an example of having a communications degree to tell her how I used that in a situation at work, she Interrupted me telling me that it wasn't relevant information. This happened multiple times. She was not professional or speaking clearly. I find it interesting that you are picky when hiring, yet that is your candidacy leader. When I told her I was enrolled in a college just as background information, she argued with my the same facts I had repeated to her three times. This was one of the worst interviewers I've had yet, just based off of the fact that she basically threatened me with not giving me the job opportunity when I told her that I wasn't going to be able to go to the college she thought I was going to. I had to explain three times that if it's not online I can't go.
Her questions were similar to, "how would you leave state while working when we need you for every other weekend." That is paraphrased, but like I said before, she was not able to effectively communicate with me so I ended the call without any questions and told her that I had transportation and was willing to drug test and get my CDL at 18.

I came in this morning, 9/11, to donate platelets. I hate needles and have a phobia of them but donate anyways. 2 years ago I asked about making donations via a single needle method for platelets because I hate needles, but after just 1 out of 3 donation attempts being successful via the single needle method told them to remove this note from my file because it was obviously not working. Now it seems that every other time I come in to donate platelets between my whole blood donations my file is screwed up and they try doing the single needle method, I'm hooked up to a machine for maybe 20 minutes and then it starts dinging and they tell me there's some kind of "flow" issue with the machine, and that's its the machine's fault. This has happened at multiple machines at the only location I go to and have been on different machines. It is utterly frustrating, disappointing, and heartbreaking to get up the courage to go in and face the needles and have this issue recur every other visit, especially when I have asked REPEATEDLY to have my file updated so that it stops reoccurring. But magically it does and it's a horrible feeling trying to donate with the Red Cross.

They wouldn't help me because of my renter insurance and section 8 voucher so wrong only needed them for two weeks or less after renter insurance money ran out. Then I just found out I'm pregnant at 56 yrs old tried to call back for help they closed the case leaving me homeless with child, but they said we don't turn people away that's a lie.My landlord called on May 6,2021Thursday and has a place for me. Charlotte Housing Authority before you move into a place it got to be inspected and approve. This case worker didn't care at all and I still got to move out of the old place. The stuff did not burn up which going take time too. Then he tells me I need to apply for disability which i get all ready that got to go on my old bills water, power, gas, medicines, insurances and other moving cost too for uhaul all your utilities transfer. All this stress me out bad made my depression, anxiety, and blood pressure go to the roof I'm giving to God i think them for $500 dollar and most of that was for gas to drive around Charlotte NC looking a roof over my head and clothes, shoe, accessories soaps other... Then he really didn't like it because I said I'm not living in a bad neighborhood where they're drugs, prostitute, gun shots and never will staying safe amen!

Today they had a donation center at Buehler YMCA palatine, IL.
Very disappointed with the nurse. Her name was Michelle. After inserted the needle, she was continuously rotating it inside to try to get the blood flow. After drawing 3quaters of blood(while rotating the needle), blood started to flow out of the needle where it was inserted and had tell to tell her to take out the needle.
VERY DISAPPOINTED TODAY.

Yesterday, I was very excited to donate blood and I felt as though I was doing a good thing until I got onto the bed and the phlebotomist who was supposed to insert the needle was very rude to me as well as to others in front of me. She messed up the insertion of the needle and continued to push it farther into my vein causing me a lot of pain and a burning sensation in my arm. She then called another woman over who wiggled the needle while it was in my arm, moving it in circular directions, and pushing it in deeper as well as pulling it out some. She pressed around the injection site and made a remark saying, "you aren't bleeding fast enough" when my blood was slow moving in the tube that brought it to the blood bag. This being my first time giving blood I was already extremely nervous and it intensified my nerves when I told them it was hurting me or asked questions about my specific situation and got no answer. I have a lot of bruising (which is expected), however, there is numbness and pain remaining from yesterday's experience Overall, it was a terrible experience and it saddens me because I was very excited to donate and was looking forward to becoming a regular donor but this definitely turned me off from future donations. After talking with a few other donors, they had shared my same experience of having rude phlebotomists and incorrect injections.

When called to schedule a donation, I requested a nearby location. They assigned the catholic church that I had gone to previously. That day I arrived and parked in the church lot. I proceeded to the basement, where they had set up shop on my last visit. There was no one there. I had seen some awning-like tents set up on the lawn in front, so I walked around. NOPE, not there. They pointed across the parking lot, (a distance of the length of a football field?) "See that building facing the road? It's in the farther building, the one back behind that one." I walked back to my car and drove over. There was no one at the check-in desk, so I walked around the partition to get their attention. A lady came over and explained they were only required to wait 5 min, and I had arrived 2 min after that. -so they were packing up and refused to take my blood. I explained that if they had furnished accurate directions, I would not have been late. Made no difference. Due to the incompetancy and inflexibilty of their procedures, I probably won't be back... NPR, Propublica, and Congress had investigated their practices several years ago and found them inept, inefficient, and also misleading in some of their accounting.

The American site for the Red Cross (www.redcross.org) A key worldwide player in first aid training, disaster relief, prisoner of war tracing and welfare, missing persons, community service, blood donation – the Red Cross has been doing good work since its foundation in 1881.
In America the Red Cross employs 35,000 people, relies on the goodwill and support of 500,000 volunteers and the four million people a year who give blood. The statistic that I really like is that 91 cents in the dollar from donations is actually spent on humanitarian programmes. Click through the links for volunteering, training, donating…
Part of the worldwide international Red Cross and Red Crescent movement, the Red Cross helps bring humanitarian relief and support to the most gruesome conflicts and disasters.
Their First Aid Training programmes are excellent.
Every home should have ay least a basic first aid book – in the USA you can get 'First Aid Fast' in English and Spanish from the local Red Cross Chapter.
THE PAGE BELOW COULD SAVE A LIFE - MAYBE YOURS!
If you are after an online first aid reference you could try 'First Aid Tips' from the British Red Cross website – bookmark the page below for quick tips for first aid emergencies! (I presume the US Red Cross has legal problems on displaying this type of info, but if you need it, you need it…)

Emergency? Not sure what to do? Don't panic. If the page above is bookmarked you or someone else can at least check that you are carrying out the correct treatment for the problem while waiting for the ambulance. Heart attacks, strokes, anaphylactic shock, electrocution, bleeding, breaks and burns – all the main everyday injuries are covered, often with short video clips to assist. It's a website that might actually save a life… (I recommend sending the link to family and friends.)
Very useful. Highly recommended.

I have attempted to donate blood twice this week with the Red Cross. The first time was on 2/10/21 it was at St. Peter's Church in Monticello, NY. My GPS sent me to the wrong address, I called the Red Cross to let them know that I may be a few minutes late. They said I have a 15 minute window. I thought it would be okay.
I finally found the church, knocked on all the doors, and a priest finally answered and directed me to a building at the end of the block. Well. By the time I got there, they turned me away as they were leaving for the day.
I rescheduled for today at 6pm at the Downsville Central School in Downsville, NY--in the downstairs gym. When I got there, I saw the Red Cross truck & van. The doors were locked on the building. I banged as hard as I could on all the entrance doors. Nobody responded. I saw another side entrance, saw a maintenance guy, banged on that door. He either didn't see or hear me, or ignored me.
There were no signs anywhere directing anybody to go any particular place. Once I got inside, as the guy finally heard me, he informed me that the blood drive was in the auditorium. The Red Cross workers once again turned me away, as it was 6:05pm. The lady was very rude and said that nobody else had a problem getting in.
According to your FB page, blood is needed constantly. But the people that organize your drives are doing a terrible job at planning, communicating, and most of all, made me feel like I wasn't important enough to allow a 15 and a minute time discrepancy which was not my fault.
Sooo... I attempted to donate blood 2 times in the past 3 days. I feel very disrespected and discarded by the Red Cross.
I should at least be eligible to get 3 amazon gift cards or a gas card? This is quite a lot of driving and gas for me. Please let me know what the Red Cross will do to fix this situation. This organization needs to be dismantled & rebuilt from the ground up. Obviously those in charge give zero cares.
