Reddit has a rating of 1.4 stars from 520 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Reddit most frequently mention free speech, social media, and front page problems. Reddit ranks 655th among Social Network sites.
Reddit is my favorite online community for its diverse range of topics, lively discussions, and sense of community. Whether I'm looking for advice, news, or entertainment, there's a subreddit for it. I appreciate the platform's commitment to free speech and the ability to engage with like-minded individuals from around the world. However, the interface can be overwhelming for newcomers, and moderation can vary between subreddits.
I haven't been able to leave comments in any subreddits nor create any posts for two months now. It is NOT a Karma problem, I have 2.6k Karma points. I can't ask whether I've been shadowbanned since I can't leave a post, and this is regardless of whether I use new or old reddit. I would like to delete my account, but they won't even let me do that. I enter my username, get the green check mark, then enter the password and the site just sits, no way to go on any further. I honestly think they don't want me or my business, because I'll be damned if I'll pay for their premium service when their regular service sucks so badly!

Tip for consumers:
If you're looking to create a Reddit account, don't bother. It'll go buggy within a week or two and they'll never fix it.

I was puzzled about why some of my experiences using reddit had happened, until I read the other reviews.
This cesspool is inhabited by the most vile, vicious, petty people you can possibly imagine. I have never encountered such hateful people in my entire life. Worse, the problem is endemic on reddit.
These apparently-bullied and marginalized individuals live on reddit and, according to their profiles, play video games. And nothing else. School shooters in the making. I learned from other reviewers here that apparently some of these abhorrent people are actually mods!
These wastes of protoplasm spend their pathetic lives trolling other users and leaving vulgar replies to thoughtful, intelligent comments. I clicked "Report" for one of these replies and was banned. Apparently, the attacker has a lot of influence.
Anyone who has made large numbers of posts and comments is rewarded with "Karma" on reddit, regardless of the quality of their "contributions." Quantity is all that matters and the more of it a psychopath can spew, the more they're valued by reddit.
This is a truly HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE platform!
Reddit info.
Founders: Kim Jong-Il, Kim Jong-Un, Kim Jong-Chul, Kim Yo-Jong.
Parent organization: Juche Publications.
Founded: June 23,2005, Hoeryong, North Korea.
CEO: Kim Jong-Un, Kim Jong-Chul (Jul 10,2015–).
Headquarters: Pyongyang, North Korea.
It is no wonder Reddit is by far the worst news and media website in the world. It's worse than the city-data forum (also headquartered in North Korea). Reddit is in fact headquartered right inside the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun in Pyongyang, next to the office room of the city-data forum. Hence every time you post, about ten minutes later you see the message; "Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit's filters." Reddit's filters are cyberbots programmed by Kim Jong-Un to remove all posts from Reddit that go against the laws, culture, and regulations of North Korea. And like North Korea, Reddit has no respect whatsoever for the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Reddit expects everyone to follow the laws and rules of North Korea in order to post anything on their site. All subreddits are also controlled and moderated by Kim Jong-Un, Kim Jong-Chul, and Kim Yo-Jong, through Kim Jong-Un's Reddit filters and cyberbots.
It's no wonder there is ZERO freedom of speech at all on Reddit, and Reddit deliberately and purposely flouts the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
And it is no surprise that Kim Jong-Un is also the present dictator of North Korea. And Kim Jong-Un is in fact worse than both his predecessors Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il.
Tip for consumers:
Reddit is that "Dive Into Anything" website where people supposedly share news and events, but are forbidden to post anything that might be seen as an insult to North Korea or a violation of the laws of North Korea. Posting on Reddit is walking on very thin egg shells. Anyone who wants freedom of speech ought to go to Edefeed. Stay off of Reddit.
Let's see...you've got people posting there who only like to hear the answers that they want to hear from strangers & sometimes ignoring the obvious ones, chasing attention and validation, shutting down opinions of other people just because they have a different one, admins banning people for no reason, the list goes on...
Reddit is a cesspool of like-minded individuals who prefer to chase internet points instead of facing reality. Now that's truly pathetic.
REDDIT is a constant financial and social danger to the free world. It must be BANNED, once and for all, in all nations of the industrialised world.
What the heck is up with people on reddit lately? Post karma can swing around quickly like a vortex. One week you get a ton of up-votes the next week people down vote very damn thing you post. The human mind is a very dangerous thing and reddit clearly shows that. It takes but one comment to ban your account from threads. The mods are given way too much power and are more like gods than moderators. If a mod is very bias they can ban whom ever the hell they want and if they're pissed off enough even get your account banned.
Right side bar taking over page more and no way to remove it. This is annoying because there is no way to slide it down to the size you want.
Discriminately ban you for zero valid reason then make some excuse to get your account banned. I've lost track of how many reddit accounts I've gone through many accounts and am careful what I post. Hell if all people want are kittens and puppies then that's what they get.
Please delete the s-e-x threads. Believe it or not this has generated a black market of a po—rn site on reddit. I had to have adult blocking software to keep my kids safe. There are many casual threads I use to enjoy but are slowing turning into soft po—rn sites and I had to unsubscribe from them. The mods do nothing to monitor the content and they say "oh, it's not against the rules." Yes it is it's right there in the rule box.
This site is not a free speech site. It is amazing what people post and the content they get away with. While other people try to speech freely only get severely down voted or their accounts deleted.
Damn that's interesting thread. I use to enjoy it but now it's just disgusting. You have people posting live births of humans and animals. Yea like I want to see that. You have people posting disgusting content that is against the rules but the mods won't remove it.
Toxic threads. Is it me or are there a ton of toxic threads where if you dare post on them you risk getting negative point karma quickly? Work threads, town threads, threads where people only want to hear what they want to hear but down vote reality….
Too many abandoned threads. Please reddit clean up abandoned threads that have been inactive for more than a couple of years or have few if at all active subscribers.
I have lost track of how many reddit accounts I've had to go through to be able to chat daily on this site. Apparently if you're more than an hour on this site you are looked upon more as a troll than just a passer through.
Warning: Do not have multiple accounts on the same computer. Some sh---it head mod on one thread got some one's account banned and reddit thinks we're a multi accouter family when we all have reddit accounts under different emails. No clue what one family member did some how our ip address got banned. I had to switch to vpns to use reddit safely without worry.
Do not pay reddit they do not deserve it. I never paid them one cent but as communistic as this place is I would not recommend pay for any of their features. Your account could be banned in a snap of a finger and you're stuck without the rewards of your paid features. If you look at bbb they're an F.
Point karma needs to go. In the early days of reddit there didn't use to be thumbs up thumbs down. People vote up what they want to say but when they experience reality reddit lies to them and they are given false impressions.
Reddit changes algorithms and it severely changes the way people behave on threads and channels. This has been proven with posted content.
One bad post can tank your karma credit heavily. Then you have sh—it heads that go into your file and down vote everything to trash your account. I had one account where this happened. I posted something on a work thread and before I realized it the account on the throw away account had -500 karma. Good f*!
Go through accounts like candy. Due to the mods having too much damn power and reddit over enforcing rules it is super easy to get accounts banned.
Work thread is full of communistic people that harass others about how sh--itty the company is and in reality that isn't true. This puts a negative image on the company I work for and it has significantly changed the atmosphere of people at work.
Don't use reddit unless you want to be fish bait! I only got into reddit during covid years (2019-2021). I have winged my addiction down to an hour a day if even that. I highly suggest people to get off this sh--it site and get back into reality. This site is a dangerous place for the human mind.
Is it me or does Trump continue to use social media to spread his lies and false propaganda? Many of these stories have been proven false and invalid but yet people believe him and like dumb affes they continue to support this mob boss who has been convicted of many crimes. Wake up people he is a psychopath and mob boss.
Redit send me post timberwolf, looks like sex woman, then transfer to Eton Tweeter which show ' f your UK,US mother, blocked tweet. Then, a group comment bad language even after late night 3.30 am. It looks like its (trick by professional post story writer.) It 's what they want- complain bad language. Well, Its reddit send Eton Tweeter blocked tweet. I don't know why they complain me bad languagebut not the other side.
I spasm it but redit keep send post to me. I don't know how can they send spasm post. So, redit must join professional post story writing. Join Tweeter (control media).
Bad language depends on what they really mean. Even US President will say bad language in front of public. Is that so serious. Only designed bad language will attack people. Other just temporary annoy people. Eg. Hong Kong government swear, it will like speak to you. HK government can pop up your mother in mind incest love making. They notify United Nation that HK government withdraw from Internation torture association so they don't need follow rules. But HK police still judge by UN as sex offender organization.
There is a problem of social media that professional post story writter will mix in change people idea.

I appreciate the platform's commitment to free speech and the ability to engage with like-minded individuals from around the world. I was posting in a subreddit and inviting others in my post who may be interested to join my kik group which is very similarly themed to this same subreddit. I looked through the subreddit rules and guidelines and found ZERO mention anywhere within this subreddit saying "no promoting". Well within less than a half hour my entire post was removed and I was crudely contacted by an automated bot saying "no promoting kiks or other social media" so I immediately left the group. I understand if you are a group leader and this is your preference/prerogative but CLEARLY and OPENLY state that in your group rules. Don't omit pertinent information to others joining your group and then engage in petty, passive aggressive behavior so you can lord over them.
Then to add insult to injury, as I'm logging out the pic attached is what I see. Seriously? I'm by no means a Trump fan but now we're fantasizing about his hypothetical and abrupt death in open forum to garner ourselves negative comradery? Reddit has seriously become a severely biased political cesspool with no shame, anything goes here. It has one place and that's the trash can. Never again...
Tip for consumers:
Just avoid.
Reddit used to be an awesome place but it has turned into an echo chamber with little tolerance for people with differing views. You can spend years building up karma and communities just to have them ban your account on some minor issue. If you are a community builder you are honestly just wasting your time on Reddit. You own nothing there and can have everything taken away from you on a whim.
Someone within reddit clearly doesn't know what harassment is or what can constitute as harassment. The warning they gave out was "a direct message on x day" instead of what was within that message that could be considered harassment. This does not help them and definitely does not help the potential offender. This is done because they clearly know that there was no rule infraction and to make others think that this gives them creditability. This does not.
What could potentially be a learning aid is nothing but a hindrance done to give a false protection. They know what they are doing and that is why they are doing it this way. Reddit clearly isn't the site it used to be. They protect toxic users and subreddits. They clearly have an agenda which makes the site completely unhealthy.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use any subreddit other than ones about help with tech or similar things. The admins have a clear agenda and are pushing it to such a degree that the site has suffered for it. It is not what it used to be and power tripping people are at the helm.
Single white straight men are the most hated men in America if not the world. They make sure to not give us a platform anywhere to be able to vent our frustrations or help guide men to a better life and what to avoid. Only women benefit from marriage, they benefit even more from divorce. Ask yourselves. What do women bring to the table in a modern relationship? They claim it's sexist to suggest them to cook or clean. They only want equal rights if it benefits them. They have zero clue how good they have it and they destroy men's souls daily.
If I could they would get zero stars, they post violent videos, videos of soldiers getting killed or maimed but if you make a comment you get banned! I have two words for this POS company! Sux it!
Tired to use reddit's political memes, they block even the most bipartisan memes that make a great point, Reddit is a useless platform. Don't bother with it.
This platform is so full of bugs its ridiculous.anytime you do anything you get a bunch of error messages. Not to mention 90 percent of the communities just auto reject everything so good luck getting anything posted at all. This platform will literally make you want to scream and smash your phone to pieces. The ui is so outdated it isnt even funny. Its not worth the foort idk how anyone even still uses it
Just saw a bunch of people openly promoting and defending herpes carrier to date normal girls, saying as long as there's no outbreak, it's fine to conduct sexual intercourse. This is the most f'd up thing I've seen in a while.
Besides the cumbersome nature of interacting with their content online, the shoddy appearance and layout, the rules that are barely enforced for some but used as a hammer for / on others, this site is garbage. I don't suggest it all. Most users are ok, a great many will bully or talk down to you. LOTS of children. LOTS and of disgusting content. Apparently it's ok to post violence as long as it's a cop getting hurt, and you better not stand up them either. I left Imgur because of extremism but I'd rather have no SM at all, as Reddit has been the largest disappointment in social media, ever. Even Facebook is doing a better job. There is no free speech on Reddit, lies and misinformation is rampant, oh and deleting is cumbersome and difficult. If I could give negative stars I would.
I cant believe this kind of censorship actually exists in today's social media and people still belong to this site. This news media political biased crap all reminds me of how the majority of society stuck there heads in the sand back during Nazi Germany killed millions. "Its not happening... nope... Fake news..." I only wish I could put karma point muzzles on the mainstream media for being a waste of space and about as useful as a self lick ice cream cone.
Used to be a favorite site of mine. Spend time searching up opinions, comments, reviews before purchasing something. Now 90% of the time I get a bs pop-up saying "use the app or beat it" so I'm beating it since the app is a 6 step sign up process, requires a Google account, and runs in your background harassing you with notifications. Ditch this site and move to quora. A lot easier and better service.
This is completely ridiculous. I get banned for 7 days for sending a text to a verified 27 year old woman. Who I texted and told them after talking back and forth for awhile that she should bring me to work and stick me under the desk. We text a few more minutes, I get off get back on and am banded for sending sexually explicit content to a minor. There are the pictures of her Verified account stating her age.
Reddit is probably the worst website possible to vote fairly on other people's comments as I experienced. As soon as you vote fairly, you get slapped with a sudden suspension for it to last three days in response to fall under their category of supposedly in me engaging in "vote manipulation?" Which I didn't do any of the sort or whatsoever.
Which brings me to the end conclusion of? I just can't anymore now. #Dead
I joined Reddit many years ago, it was a helpful place, you could get help with all manner of things, now though the majority of it is just pure vile trash, it's run by conspiracy nuts, it's mods are power hungry arseholes, it's not a safe place to be, many of its users are predatory, hating in anything different, they form gangs/cliques and terrorise other members, I have seen it go from a place to get help and hang out with like minded people and discuss things to every second post being conspiracy or hate fueled garbage. If you value you mental health stay away from Reddit, it will suck your will to live and leave you a shell of your former self.
Tip for consumers:
Just stay away at any cost, there are alternatives.

Obnoxious vitriolic trolls, some of them are moderators

The mods don't even approve your comments half the time
No point posting here, it's either trolls, or your comment doesn't even get posted
So I just put a negative review of Mercari on reddit under the Mercari conversations. So I was banned. I guess only positive reviews are accepted which is why their rating on that site is high. I used no names or inappropriate wording, I only told my story and now I'm banned from adding anything to the conversation. So ridiculous!
Got banned permanently from the site for "breaking the rules", yet they don't tell me which rules I've broken.
According to them I also have multiple accounts, I didn't know 1 was multiple not sure if it's a mistake or they are claiming that I have multiple accounts which I don't.
I can't even look up my posts to check if anything was worthy of a ban because it just says "This account has been suspended" very cool reddit.
PS: I did have another account before this was like 3 years ago during a period where I was suicidal and decided to delete my account, though I've never posted anything that would break the rules there either.
Tip for consumers:
Just don't post anything and maybe you won't get banned is my best guess.
Reddit is a community of millions of users engaging in the creation of content and the sharing of conversation across tens of thousands of topics.
